How are things progressing with the Winter Reading Challenge? Have you read or come across any titles you have enjoyed (or didn't)?

April | 16 comments I will finish book number 4 today. I'm reading From Within by local author (Buckner) Rose Gorham. This is a Buckner branch book club selection. I was hesitant on reading this book but, actually, I'm pleasantly surprised! While I wouldn't be able to classify it as a literary read, it is a great "fluff" book! This is a great book to read when you're wanting something light, easy, and quick. I'm excited to meet the author next week at the book club discussion.

April | 16 comments I should mention that Rose Gorham was a librarian for 16 years. I believe it was the Bucker branch. Many of you probably know her.

Cookie (bookcupidity) I decided to try and stick to the recommended selections - it seemed like a fun way to pick up a new book.
I've read The Bride, Runaway, and am about 15% through Ivanhoe...
Chugging right along...

Update:
The Bride
Runaway
Ivanhoe
Soulless

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

updated 3/4. Done!

I have read The Gods of Gotham by Lyndsay Faye and I am listening right now to Murder as a Fine Art by David Morrell. This title happens to be the top choice on the ALA RUSA Reading List for mysteries.

Erica (kcmomto2) | 7 comments I have finished three books so far. They're not really historicals, but since we do still have a couple months yet, I am considering Fall of Giants...thoughts?

Susan | 6 comments Just finished Faded Coat of Blue by Owen Parry. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

I enjoyed Fall of Giants. It is a long book though.

April | 16 comments I just finished book 5. The Dinner The Dinner by Herman Koch by Herman Koch. My thoughts after reading the last page, "What?! Did I miss something? What happened to that potential 'a-ha moment'?" GRRRRRRR!!!!

Just finished Murder as a Fine Art by David Morrell. I loved this book. It doesn't unfold like a typical mystery. You find out who the killer is 2/3 way through the book. The last 1/3 is how they end up catching the killer.

I also did some looking up of actual historical people and events in the book like the Ratcliffe Highway murders in some of our online historical newspapers.
