The Roman transliterations were close enough (and the slight variations on the covers varied enough) that I merged those.

But please NEVER merge a Roman transliteration with an author name in another language. It can undo many hours of another librarian's work.

Any book published under the non-Roman name should have the Roman version of the name as the primary author, and the Cyrillic (or whatever other language) name as the secondary author. That allows editions in other languages to be combined.

That is different enough that I would treat it the same as an other-language one: put Vasilij Rozanov in primary on that book, but keep Wassilij Rosanow as secondary.
