: Trying to find a book I read about 5-10 years ago...think it had harvest in the title, was about a small town cop, told from his pov, investigating a murder of three decapitated bodies in a cornfield. If anyone knows this book please tell me the title and author. I believe it was written by a woman.

Still Life with Crows by Preston and Child maybe? Several bodies are found in the cornfields, but not decapitated so probably not. Main characters are Special Agent Pendergast, a Sherlock Holmes type from New Orleans and Corrie Swanson, a teenage girl he hires to help him investigate. Very creepy murderer. It starts of with the local sherriff investigating until Pendergadt shows up.
Deadly Harvest by Heather Graham?
"While in Salem, Massachusetts, looking for his friend's missing wife, cop Jeremy Flynn is drawn into a murder investigation involving the infamous Harvest Man and teams up with a local occult expert who disagrees with his methods."
Promising corn plants on cover.

No it is fiction. I vaguely remember that the police officer was just returned home from ?war? Something that made the others postulate that he may b a unic due to wounds/scars he had...it read as if there were more books after with the same MC. Also, I think the author had initials for a first name.
You might check http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/ they have the ability to check by Job or Location. The closest thing I could come up with on my own was Eleven Days by Donald Harstad. Starts with mutilated bodies in a farmhouse, but no headless ones.
No...Ty for trying to help..the book I'm looking for is more a murder mystery, the killer was human motivated by usual things, I can't remember the specifics though.
What about the Mansfield Killings? It's based on a true crime. But that might be why it sounded familiar to Amanda.
No, definitely complete fiction. I looked at that web site above but no success yet, however I think the MC may have been named Charlie. He was definitely a deputy in a small...I'm thinking mid western area town, due to the cornfield.
It was a mass market paperback that caught my attention at Target in their book section. Not an author I was familiar with or recognized as being popular.
Alex were the bodies all found at the same time? Do you remember any of the suspects? Anything about the cover?
All three were found at the same time...i think the murders had some sordid sexual motive to it. They may have all been naked or partially clothed. I think the cover had cornstalks n was orange/yellow with the authors name in bold at top...I also believe it was a female author with two initials for first name. Can not remember any suspects. Thanks for trying to help.
Blood Harvest matches the title and the author with initials, but not the plot. You might want to check out this list of authors known by initials:

Sometimes I think I imagined the whole thing...lol...I've been searching lists on here, amazon paperback keyword searches...n nothing has fit. I am not positive about the word harvest being in the title...but I do think it was...just one of those things u start talking ur self out of. Soooooo want to find this book...am positive about the three decapitated bodies being found in a open area in a cornfield...
Hi,Your book sounds interesting - I'd like to help you find it so I can read it myself.
Were the bodies male or female? Were any more people killed after these bodies were found? Was it the work of a serial killer? Could the main character possibly be named Charlie Moon?
I believe it was two men and one woman...one of the men was the owner of the far they were on, I can not remember for sure, but I believe there was another murder, notas gruesome, but I do not think it was a serial killer, just someone with something to gain. Not sure about Charlie moon, I'll investigate that...what book is he from? Thanks!
Not having any luck with my searches so far. Would you mind if I posted this query on some other forums I participate in? I have found this helpful many times before - the more people who see it, the more chance of someone remembering it. I would really like to help you find it and also read it for myself.
This is just a long, long shot - but what about "Bone Harvest" by Mary Logue published in 2004? There is no corn pictured on the cover I saw, however, could be another edition. It apparently begins with bodies of at least one man and woman found at a farm house in Wisconsin fifty years ago. It does not specifically mention decapitation, but they were mutilated.Bone Harvest
Don't give up - it is out there somewhere. Are there any more details you can remember, no matter how small?
Re-skimming the post, not sure if this was asked:What time period was the book set in?
Did the decapitations happen at the beginning of the book? Or, was there some lead up? Any other characters, no matter how minor?
Time was contemporary...somewhere in the 2000's I'd say. Started out with the decapitated bodies being found in a kind of crop circle and the police officer being called out to investigate. One of the dead men...there were two men and one woman, was the owner of the farm. I think they may have been naked or in some form of undress, cause it was initially thought to be some kinky endeavor gone wrong...but it is later found that there was some type of hidden motive for the killer. I read so much...I'm sure most of u can understand, that I dont usually try rereading the mass market stuff I get...my brain junk food, but this really stuck with me! Thanks for any help...I get a lil excited everytime I see someone reply ;)
Did you confirm it wasn't Michelle's suggestion Still Life With Crows?I don't think this is it but Head for Murder: A Four Corners Mystery?
