JoAnne (joannemwct) | 2511 comments Since books have to be a minimum of 150 pages we can't read it from the alternate unless it meets that criteria too, correct?

message 52: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yeah alternates have to meet the alternate and be at least 150 pg.

That's what I thought but Listopia challenge I'm doing (there is no page limit) you could end up reading a really short book from the appropriate list.

D.G. | 1 comments Hi Jenne,

Questions about the free pass...

When you say a day early...do you mean if we finish by Thursday any time? Or 24 hrs. before we rolled?

And can you win more than a free pass?

message 55: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Thursday, and it's only good once.

message 56: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Can this free pass be used at the very end of the game?

message 57: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yeah it can be used any Friday.

message 58: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1 comments Thanks, Jenne.

D.G. | 1 comments The rules say that "There will be a separate thread for captains to post their place on the board after rolling and a separate thread for captains to post a link to the teams completed reviews."

I saw the separate thread for the captains to post our place but what about the other one to post the links? I can't find that one. :(

message 60: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments They'll both go in the post your spot thread :)

D.G. | 1 comments Jenne wrote: "They'll both go in the post your spot thread :)"

Oh so once you roll, you also have to post a link to the teams completed reviews for the previous week?

message 62: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yeah

message 63: by Book Concierge (new)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 2457 comments Looking ahead .... would this cover count as YELLOW?
Would it count as RED? (It's kind of half & half ...)

Light A Penny Candle by Maeve Binchy

message 64: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I think it would work for either red or yellow. It is pretty half and half!

message 65: by [deleted user] (new)

Jenne could you please PM Andrea from Team 8, she hasn't checked in since the new roll, I just wanted to make sure she's still playing I tried PMing her but she doesn't except messages and I know you got a hold of her last time :)

message 71: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1 comments Not us. We're last. :(

Question, Jenne. A series I like has a 10 in a series coming out soon. Could I read that book if I get an 1 or 0 or only spot #10 would have counted?

(I know it could fit under an alternate somewhere but I just want to find out what happens with 10+ in a series.)

message 72: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments It'd have to be on the 10 spot for it to work.

message 73: by Rhonda (new)

Rhonda Hi Jenne. We have rolled the dice for this week, but all of our reviews are not in. I realize we can't advance, but will we need to do a do over on the dice roll after the last review is posted?

message 74: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yes You'll have to roll after the reviews are all in. You have all of today to get them in and roll.

message 75: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 995 comments Do graphic novels count for this challenge if it meets the minimum page requirement? My book club is reading one and it happens to fit the alternate this week.

message 76: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Hmmm I can't remember if we've ever brought that up. I guess since it's not been addressed at the start it'll be ok.

message 77: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 995 comments I couldn't find a reference to it either, and wanted to make sure.

I may have a different pick, but want to make sure I have this right. I know someone already asked about using different editions for the publishing date, but I have the reverse scenario. This book, Timebound, was originally self-published in 2012, and has a new edition out this year. Goodreads lists the pub date in my sorting as the 2012 date, but when I go to the book page, it lists the 2014 date first. Can I use this for the 2012 alternate?

message 78: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments You gotta click on the other editions apparently the other edition had another name

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

message 79: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 995 comments So if I link to that edition for my review, I'm good?

message 80: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yup

message 81: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 995 comments Cool, thanks!

message 82: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I've stumbled across a few questions on the free pass throughout the game so thought I'd explain it in more depth :)
After week/roll 2 I'm showing all teams have earned their free pass.
In order to have earned it all members of a team had to be finished and reviewed by Thursday (a day ahead of the new roll)
I've put the free pass in post 1 of each team's thread under your names.
If ever a Friday rolls around and your team is still missing a review(s) you can use your free pass to go ahead and roll and advance on the board.
There's no time limit as to when you can use it but once you've used it it's gone.
You can only earn it once throughout the course of the game as well.
It's NOT an extra roll its just a free pass to roll if you're team didn't get all of their reviews in on time.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have as well :)

message 83: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1 comments Hi Jenne - I have a question about omnibus editions. I wonder if they work like anthologies in that you may use any number in the book as long as you read the whole thing?

For instance, I have these two books on my TBR:
Wool Omnibus (Wool 1-5)
Theft of Swords (The Riyria Revelations, 1-2) and I want to know if I can read them for the challenge.

message 84: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Yes they'll work so long as you read the entire thing. It would work like an anthology so you could use wool Omnibus for 1-5 for example.

message 92: by Jenne (new)

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Lol it's got more black if you Smush it all together. It is pretty close though.
