Under the Mesquite by Guadalupe McCall

What would you do if your mother died of cancer? The book "Under the Mesquite" is a Winner of the 2012 Pura Belper Award and 2012 William C. Morris Debut Award Finalist. I would recommend this book to kids 11 and older. My opinion for this book is that it is a really good book that you can read and reflect to your life, because what happened to her, losing her mother because of cancer, is something that can sadly happen to all of us. Another book that sounds really interesting that I also feel like reading is "Summer of the Mariposas" also by Guadalupe McCall, because it says to be about a girl finding a dead body and seeing La Llorona, I think it sounds really interesting and is something I would like to read!
