Xian Xian (xianxian) Hey there, I've been on this blog for a while but I never made a newbie post, because well, I forgot apparently. So lately I have been getting into independent press novels. So far I have only read e-books from CClap and one novella, How to Shake the Other Man by Derek Palacio from the press Nouvella. There are books from Two Dollar Radio, Civil Coping Mechanisms, and Lazy Fascist that want to buy but I can't at the moment. The woes of being a jobless 18 year old.

I have been reading for most of my life but I don't think i've gotten into more serious literature until maybe junior year of high school. I used to read mostly YA, now I rarely read any unless the plot sounds interesting and it's cheap or it's one of those contemporary, coming of age ones like novels written by A.S. King. Then I found Haruki Murakami and my taste in literature has changed so much, I will never go back. That sounds snobby. The college library has so many good books and i'm sad that i won't be able to read the ones I want due to it being a two year and time goes by fast.

my favorite authors are Haruki Murakami, Kazuo Ishiguro, and so far I really love books by Mo Yan, Zadie Smith, Ben Tanzer,Roberto Bolaño, or anything in the magical realism genre or literary fiction. Anything that is touching, historical fiction, or has a dreamy feeling is an instant love.

I have a blog where i talk about books but I made this post on my iPad so I have no clue how to put a link of it and I don't feel like doing it.

Hi Lixian. So glad you swung by to introduce yourself. As a lover of small press myself, I love to hear how much you are digging them!!!

Welcome to TNBBC

Xian Xian (xianxian) Thanks, should i respond to this? So far from the small presses I really enjoy most of CCLap, I have read I'm Not Saying, I'm Just Saying by Matthew Salesses from Civil Coping Mechanisms, and the Derek Palacio novella. I'm really curious about Sam Pink and Noah Cicero.

Oh man.. Sam Pink is the SHIT! You really need to read him! And hooray for loving CCLaP (as you know, I am quite partial to them.)

Xian Xian (xianxian) What is the appeal of sam Pink though? Is he funny or is he just really fun to read and surreal?
