Pedro Proença (punksterbass) | 9 comments This was also my first Bizarro book!

message 352: by Patrick (new)

Patrick McCartney | 13 comments Carlos, sounds like another book I'm going to have to make sure I read at some point. My "debut" to the genre was back in May of 2014 - Apeshit by Carlton Mellick III.

message 353: by Carlos (new)

Carlos (cdlt1983) | 11 comments Patrick it was such an awesome read, you will like it, and I been wanting to read apeshit.

S.R. Covieo (covieo) | 10 comments Thanks to all of you who have kept this group going! I'm S. R. Covieo, I'm new to Goodreads, and semi-new to bizarro fiction. I write in several genres - including what I call "Live Fiction" or "Non-Genre." I have a Goodreads giveaway for vol. 1 in a series titled 500.6 - vol 2 is at the printers as I write this.

Enough about that, here's a brief intro into my world: After earning a creative writing degree I gave up writing for fifteen years out of a healthy fear of my own mind. Two years ago I was compelled to write a book in a different genre, and after publishing it I knew, madness or not, I had to return to writing. In April 2014 I left a well paying job, and after several months of grieving several life changing personal losses, I began pursuing writing with vigor.

I've read some books and stories that I would classify bizarre, but I'm really looking forward to the books this group will be introducing me too, and getting to know other people who like to read outside of the norm.

Matt Williams (sketcity) | 19 comments Hi I'm Matt. Stumbled along bizarro a couple of months ago and . . .it's all delightfully ill and sickening, full of the colour red and a pink, mushy substance that I can't help feel looks a little like my brain slathered right there on the pages. Not that I'd know if it was, anyway. I'm an incapable, blathering, spit-soaked-dumb-weight of a being, with half a head, weirdly long toe nails and a lump sticking out of my back that makes me look like Quasimodo. I like writing. I eat strange stuff.

message 362: by Jason (new)

Jason Hodge Hi, I'm new to Bizarro Fiction. I just signed up for Kindle Unlimited and grabbed The Driver's Guide to Hitting Pedestrians by Andersen Prunty, on a whim, and am amazed so far. I started digging in a bit more, reading up on the genre. Very excited to learn that there are books like this available. I look forward to digging in and melting my mind. Thanks for having me in your group.

Rick (rwestbrock) | 143 comments I haven't heard of that one but it sounds fun. Welcome aboard!

Jason, you're in for a treat! Andersen Prunty and CV Hunt are two of my absolute favorites. They also run two of my favorite publishing houses, Grindhouse and Atlatl. If you want more stuff like that, search Andersen Prunty, CV Hunt, William Pauley III, Zachary Owens, Justin Grimbol, etc, and the two presses I mentioned, and you will be well pleased. As a Kindle Unlimited patron, I think you can even read AND listen to most of Andersen and CV's books, as most of their stuff is on Audible as well. That's one of the main reasons I keep Kindle Unlimited! :-)

And WELCOME ABOARD!!! We have group reads each month; I can get ya a PDF of the books we're reading this month if you'd like! Just PM me if you're interested! <3

It's funny that you mention CV Hunt. I just started Baby Hater earlier this evening! I hadn't made it through the first paragraph and I knew this was going to cater to me. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm just blindly diving in so I appreciate it.

message 370: by Devin (new)

Devin M. Anderson Salutations & good eve to you all!
I've newly fallen in lust with the bizarro fiction scene, and I'm happily itching the terrible rash it's given me. I'm a writer (imagine that) and stay at home dad of two crazy awesome kids. I've had a long string of eclectic/violent/dirty/odd jobs over the years, so if you've any questions, just ask.
Can't wait to read more weird stuff!

Remesh R. | 2 comments Bizarre ladies and gentleman of this big wide world, halloa! My name is Remesh. I am interested in western philosophy, classical fiction, poker, travelling, thinking and writing (occasionally).
I listen to all kinds of music. My favorite artist is Pink Floyd. I am a diehard fan of Game of Thrones series.
I’ve recently published my first work of fiction, Diary of a Stranger which features a weirdo protagonist and falls under satirical romance category (I think). Have a great day. Diary of a Stranger Diary of a Stranger by Remesh R.

message 374: by Janie (new)

Janie Hi, I'm Janie. I'm relatively new to the Bizarro genre, but so far I like it a lot. Strange things make me laugh, sometimes inappropriately. I try to keep the laughs inside, but this looks like a place where I can let them out. I don't wa-da-tah to the shama cow... 'cause thats a cama cama leepa-chaiii, dig? :)

B.L. Daniels (bldaniels) | 5 comments Hey all,

Reader and (recent) author. Wanted to say hi and glad I found this group. I've always loved strange fiction but never realized it had an easy classification I could look it up under. I've already found a bunch of new stuff to read just browsing.

message 378: by Janie (last edited May 10, 2016 11:53AM) (new)

Janie Hey, B.L. I'm new to the genre, too, and am also having fun exploring. Detroit 2020 sounds cool.

Hi new kid, don't worry, there's rarely a soul in this toilet. I just sampled two of your books, and I would say yes, there is a touch of bizarro there, if not more. Welcome!

message 381: by Janie (new)

Janie Oh ... so that's what those things are for!

Gerri Gray (gerrirgray) | 1 comments Greetings! I'm Gerri and I'm a bizarro author from Upstate New York. My first novel, The Amnesia Girl, was published in 2017 by HellBound Books. I'm currently working on a second novel, guaranteed to be even more bizarre than the first! I'm looking forward to meeting other bizarro authors.

Corwyn Matthew (c0rwyn) | 1 comments Is this where I go to sign up for unrelenting celestial sex in the afterlife? Or did I take a wrong turn somewhere...?

message 393: by Tyler (new)

Tyler Gray (wickedjr89) Hi, I'm Stephanie. I haven't read much bizarro at all yet but I am interested in it and figured this group was a good way to find out about more! One of my favorite genres is horror but I read all over the place.

message 394: by Danger (new)

Danger (danger_slater) | 20 comments Hey Stephanie (and others)

The board here has been pretty quiet for quite a while, so unless you're the one looking to breathe new life into this place, I would urge everyone curious about Bizarro to head on over to Bizarro Central (https://bizarrocentral.com) to find out more. From there you can find links and information on all the major Bizarro books, authors, publishers, etc.

The Bizarro Fiction page on Facebook is also slightly more active than the one here on Goodreads, so if you're lookin' to interact with people, that might be worth checking out: https://www.facebook.com/groups/bizarro1

Anyway, hope this helps everyone.

-Danger
