Anthony Miller | 3 comments Hello. I'm Anthony Miller. I write bizarro, I think. If Chris Genoa does, then I do.

I wrote a book called WHAT WOULD SATAN DO? It's about what would happen if Satan were to quit his job and leave Hell for a quiet retirement in Washington, DC. (Hint: One or more evangelical tele-preachers would get kind of upset, and try to get the Judgment-Day ball rolling on his own.)

What Would Satan Do?

I'm doing a giveaway here on Goodreads (Giveaway).

And another on Facebook (Facebook Page).

I'll give free e-book copies to anyone who adds me as a friend.

Age: Old, almost dead.
History: Wrote bizarro fiction back in the 5th grade. They didn't have a name for it then. I was ridiculed and spit wadded.

Athanasios (athanos) Howdy everybody. I'm Athanasios and wanted to introduce myself my two literary efforts Mad Gods & it's most recent sequel, Commitment. They're both well represented at my webpage: www.mad-gods.com and are available @:

Mad Gods:
description
The Antichrist lives. He is wanted dead or alive by Satanists, the Catholic Church and the Dark Nobility.

Kostadino must save him or let the world turn into hell on earth.

Commitment:
description
Adam watched Mad Gods drag his father to Hell.

Melusine Rothschild, Grande Dame of the Black Nobility wants to raise him. She is part of the World Elite that live by Predatory Ethics and seek to guide him in wielding the power and influence of his dark birthright.

Adam, the teenage Antichrist/AntiXos, wants none of this. He watches his TV shows in one of Danvers Mental Hospital's nice padded rooms, snugly dressed in his own long sleeved, buckled, canvas jacket. He feels safe here away from a hostile, ravaging outside world.

He's horribly wrong.

Ania (aniaahlborn) | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm new to the group. Just wanted to make a quick introduction. My name is Ania and I'm a horror author as well as a fan of anything weird and dark. ;)

In the meantime, if you're looking for some weird fiction, my novel Seed may be up your alley. That is, if you like demons preying on small children... (Who doesn't?)It's an Amazon exclusive, so look for it there.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone as well as participating in some great discussions. Happy New Year!

Justin Grimbol | 2 comments Hey Guys...
I'm Justin Grimbol and I'm part of this years New Bizarro Author Series. My book is called THE CRUD MASTERS.
Heres a few things I think you need to know about me:
I just learned how to whistle. It's been driving my fiance, Heather, insane.
Two weeks ago I went dancing at this club called BUBBAS. A bouncer came up to me and told me I had to pull my pants up, that people were complaining. I left. No body tells ME to pull my pants up.
I've been watching a lot of sappy movies. I mean, its been getting really intense. Last week I watched Forrest Gump, Field of Dreams, Fried Green Tomatos, and, my favorite, Terms of Endearment. I cried so much, I lost five pounds.
I also love Bizarro fiction.
My favorite Bizarro novels:
TEETHE AND TONGUE LANDSCAPE---Mellick
THE GREATEST FUCKING MOMENT IN SPORTS---Donihe
GIGANTIC DEATH WORM---Kramer
THE PICKLED APOCALYPSE OF PANCAKE ISLAND---PIERCE
SHATNER QUAKE---BURKE

message 268: by Tantra (new)

Tantra Bensko (tantrabensko) Hi, there,

I'll introduce myself as well. I write a variety of styles of fiction, and though I recently wrote a couple novels, my publications have been short stories in magazines, anthologies, chapbooks, and a book. A second and third book of short stories are due out very soon. One of them was accepted by Dog Horn, which publishes Bradley, etc. but I had to switch to a different publisher in order to mesh with a different book coming out--too complex to go into.

I've often seen Jodorowsky and Lynch labled bizarro, and those are two of my favorite directors. My fiction is influenced by literary and experimental fiction including absurdism, new wave fabulism, surrealism, meta-fiction, etc. as well as avant-garde art, film, music, dance, and also my own wild comedic improv acting.

I love the magazines Dream People, Cafe Irreal, Bust Down the Door and Eat all the Chickens, the Bizarro Starter Kit, Drabblecast....

Life is very strange.

Troy Mccombs | 1 comments Hey everyone, my name's Troy McCombs. I've been writing weird/Lovecraftian-type horror stories since I was a kid. Now, I've published several novels under the same genre and even others (they still have a supernatural element to them). If you'd like to check out my blog, you'll find free giveaways, cool polls, and all things horror/sci-fi/fantasy related. It's just started up.

Stevie Tee (StevieTee) | 14 comments Hello, I'm Steve. I'm fairly new to the world of bizarro, but as far as I can tell, it is a genre that caters to my particular brand of weirdness.

J.S. Lawhead (js_lawhead) | 1 comments I just now realized I hadn't introduced myself yet.

Howdy. My name is J.S. Lawhead and I'm also a bizarro author. I had my first bizarro novel/short-story anthology, Vulgarity For the Masses, published in late 2011 with Burning Bulb Publishing. The publishing of such effectively cut me off from an entire branch of family and invited some sort of dark, sentient force into the apartment that cursed us with bad health, housing issues, family plague and bizarre shit that required our pastor for a blessing to weaken. I wouldn't blame you if you thought I was making it up, I'd like to believe that myself.

I'm also an ocremixer, and indie game composer under the name 12 Followers/Meteo Xavier. I also review videogames under the name Meteo Xavier for www.gamecola.net.

My website for any who might be interested is www.jslawhead.com. That's as much as I'm comfortable shilling out about myself.

Have a wonderful day and remember, it doesn't cost anything to envy the dead for an hour a day unless you're in the state of Michigan.

message 275: by David (new)

David Fleming (davidwallacefleming) | 2 comments Hey. I'm David. I've been writing this weird type of ficiton for years and then after searching on the web I realize that other people are doing it too.

I honestly haven't read much in the genre.

Strange how that happens. I also write traditional stuff. I have a blog were I post my latest stuff. It's posted on my author page.

I also have a self-narrated bizzaro audiobook available for free through my facebook page. (It's a collection of short stories and about 3/4 are bizzaro.)

My name is Richard and I tinkered about on the edge of Bizzaro a few years ago doing a few comics and whatnot.
I love the Genre and for some reason stopped reading it for a bit. I regret this. I was foolish. I was young.
Can you forgive me?

Missy | 14 comments Hello,
My name is Melissa and I am completely new to bizarro. I stumbled across this genre the other day and it seems wildly interesting. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good read?

message 278: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (frellathon) Melissa it's hard to say if you haven't read it yet which would be the best direction to point you in so I'll just mention my fave so far and I've only read a few bizarro's, I'm sure others could offer more suggestions. My top favorite bizarro read so far is Trashland A Go-Go, I also enjoyed Gigantic Death Worm. If you read them let me know what you think.

Ruschelle Dillon | 2 comments Hi. My name is Ruschelle
Everyone grumbles: "Hi Ruschelle"
Then usually I have to tell everyone that I'm an alcoholic and squirm and lie and say I've been sober for three weeks but since this is Bizarroville, I'll just say, "How YOU doin?"

My first novella is being published by Black Bed Sheets Books sometime this spring. DEAD MEAT is about a murderous zombie penis. IT COULD HAPPEN!!! I also put out the video DON'T PUNCH THE CORPSE on Youtube. There's 5 minutes of your life you'll never get back.

I'm here to win friends and influence people. That's what my self-help coach expects me to say. I look forward to meeting you and hanging out with my new found bizarro peeps.

I'm going to recommend S.D.'s book as well, it's really good stuff. The next two bizarro books I plan on reading are:

Ass Goblins of Auschwitz

and

The Greatest Fucking Moment in Sports

Two bizarro classics that would likely show up on most must-read lists.

Sarah (sarahautumn) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Devi. I love a large variety of fiction, especially fantasy, graphic novels, and bizarro. I'm still fairly new to bizarro, having only been reading it for a little over a year now. I've read most of Mykle Hanson's work, several pieces by Kevin L. Donihe and Gina Ranalli, and am trying to make a dent in Carlton Mellick's enormous body of work. I plan to read Shaterquake soonish but I haven't picked up a copy yet.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to meeting other bizarro fans and chatting about our favourite books.

Cheers!

message 293: by Derek (new)

Derek (groted) | 1 comments Hullo. I'm a Derek. I'm just going to list facts about myself.

1. I'm an Iowan. This does not mean I was born on a farm. My hometown has a population of 3,000. It has twelve churches.

2. A hot curling iron landed on my thigh and melted my skin down to the muscle. I was a toddler. I now lovingly refer to the scar as "The Eye of Sauron".

3. I taught Language Arts to a group of autistic, suicidal middle school boys during college. One stabbed me in the leg with a fork after I patted his shoulder affectionately. He was my favorite student.

4. I never "quit" reading books, even if they're terrible. I believe that every story has value.

5. My mother has a mental illness. She walked down our street naked just before the end of my second grade year. Small town Iowa had a lot to say about that. I almost love her more than anyone.

6. Aside from teaching and reading, cooking is my other love. Crockpots are the way to go. I don't really like seafood. But I'm willing to try anything at least once.

7. I wear sweaters and sweater vests. A lot. I would wear them every day if I could, but summers in Iowa can be brutal.

8. At one point, I worked for a string of newspapers. One day, I was on-scene covering a fatal car accident. Semi hit a sedan that skidded into a ditch with tall grass. Caught on fire. Two men died. Burned alive. I was the only one with a camera and the coroner was running late. I had to take photos. I cried.

9. I plan on earning a doctorate at some point, so that I can teach at a university. I want to research horror and bizarro. I also hope to write some day.

10. I am 6'5 and quite large. Sometimes, people tell me I look like a bear. I usually respond by saying that I am half-Kodiak. Then, I give them a hug.

Scorpion King | 1 comments The question is not who I am,
But what I am.
I am a dog pancake.
The postman calls me Dee.
My panda suggested my last name: Rayolia.
My first name doesn't rhyme with it.
But the panda must be obeyed.
Sacrifices! Sacrifices!

I stumbled upon the wikipedia Bizarro page one day.
My eyes became like this -- *.*
Can somebody initiate me into the cult of bizarro?

I am a teenage writer. Still not published, though.

message 295: by Guillermo (new)

Guillermo Galvan What's up fellow weirdos? My name is Ish and nice to meet you all. I joined up a while ago because I want to get more involved in the strange writing community.

I'm a writer, having just put out my first book Blubber Island. It's not traditional at all and so when I tired to showing to the regular book community, everyone was turned off by the violence and bizarre nature. I never realized what a conservative bunch readers are. Anyways, after checking out countless reviewers, I found out about Bizarro. Finally, some people I can connect with.

I haven't read any Bizarro fiction but I've been a huge fan of cheesy movies my whole life. But I do want to check some stuff out and even do some reviewing. I have a Bachelor's degree in Art History and would love to help other writers get their work out. That being said, if anyone is interested in doing a review for Blubber Island just send me a message.

Thanks and I'm glad this place is here.

Guillermo Galvan LOOKING FOR REVIEWERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GUTTER SURREALISM TAKES FORM IN BLUBBER ISLAND
A New Counter-culture Art Form Emerges from a Controversial Novel

OKINAWA, JAPAN—(August 26, 2012) Still in its infancy in the art world, Gutter Surrealism’s place in literacy had yet to be developed—until Ismael Galvan wrote Blubber Island, a reality-bending, dark comedy novel that questions today’s human freedom. The story centers on a group of outcasts struggling to maintain and disrupt the fabric of reality.

“I think of Blubber Island as the first solid attempt at the genre of Gutter Surrealism in literature,” comments Galvan, indicating towards his background in Art History and Art Theory. “If you do a Google search for Gutter Surrealism, at most, you’ll find scant remarks.”

Although Gutter Surrealism seems synonymous to other counter-culture forms such as junk art, sewer punk, anarchism, Dadaism, and Surrealism, Gutter Surrealism stands alone. “Gutter Surrealism is its own legitimate movement seeking to cut out its own path,” Galvan noted on his blog, Blubber Island (http://blubberisland.wordpress.com). “But there’s a lot of similarities [punk culture and Gutter Surrealism] have in common; a spirit of D.I.Y. (do it yourself), liberation, anti-authority, high energy, [and] anti-mind control.”

While Galvan’s book, Blubber Island, embodies the ideas of Gutter Surrealism, it also challenges society’s attack on people’s imagination. Using a story that centers around a mysterious dream device with the potential to destroy or re-create the world, Blubber Island juxtaposes bizarre scenarios with metaphysical and philosophical ideals. The inept authority figures, such as the creator of the dream device, are painted in a negative light while the young, homeless teenagers and punk rockers become noble presences in the book.

Many readers who have read the book attest to Blubber Island’s ability to speak to the contemporary audience. One customer reviewer wrote, “Blubber Island confronts […] controversial issues that we all face in today's world (racism, sex, homelessness, religion, politics, drugs, dreams, modern philosophy).”

The paperback and Kindle editions of Blubber Island are available on Amazon for $4.20. Also, a review copy of Blubber Island is free upon request by emailing ismaelggalvan@gmail.com.
