These two are towards the top of my list of books to get my hands on. Apocalypse Donkeys should be on its way, and I'll probably order Super People when I'm on my uni break in a few weeks' time. Glad to hear you approve. I'm also keen on picking up one of Sam Pink's new books, I haven't read any yet and I've been meaning to for a while. And I think A Plague of Wolves and Women sounds fascinating.

Here is a list of bizarro publishers from Bizarro Central.

I've been browsing the Bizarro Central publishers list. It is a bit out of date, though there are some good pubs on there. It could use some updating. Thanks. :-)

As far as online sites, I would recommend Bizarro Central itself, The Dream People, The New Flesh, Unicorn Knife Fight, and Garrett Cook's Nuckelavee (which I assume will be online rather than print--I'm not sure since the first issue hasn't come out yet).
As far as submitting books, Eraserhead Press has their whole New Bizarro Author Series thing, Lazy Fascist Press accepts queries, Raw Dog Screaming Press is currently accepting novel submissions, and Atlatl Press is accepting submissions until the end of the month.

Thanks, Bradley. I'll keep an eye out for the next issue of BDTDAEATC. I didn't know Garrett Cook was starting his own journal. I'll look for that as well.
I've been reading some of The Dream People, The New Flesh, and Unicorn Knife Fight. They are cool places to visit. I was recently published at The Mustache Factor, another new bizarro site. I was just wondering if there were any new places popping up that aren't on Bizarro Central's list. It seems they pop up then disappear. Terribly sad.

Good advice! That's what i did: http://mustachefactor.blogspot.com/

Bradley, I'd love to start my own. Unfortunately, I have websites now that I don't update for lack of time. I had to do some creative time management to carve out the time to write some stories. If my situation ever changes, then I just might start my own. Meanwhile, I'm happy supporting the few that are there. :-)

Just bought these books, looking forward to them oh so much.

I actually submitted it to the guys at Eraser Press but my book has a Christian slant to it to say the least so it was turned down. Their loss. LOL
Anyway, I'm brand new here. Been working on my book for over ten years since it's so intense and out there. Why I tried Eraser in the first place because the normal publishers weren't ready for a drug fueled trip to Hell, meeting God, Satan and enough gore and psychedelics that would make TImothy Leary take notice. LOL
So take it easy on me. I'm new and wish I knew about this place cause it's a Hell of a lot better then Facebook. Ahhh... fellow readers... nice to be in the company of the intelligent again. LOL
Anyway, love the stuff

They told me they were Atheists and wouldn't release anything with a Christian angle to it.
There... that's better. LOL

Plus they've never published a memoir. Only fiction.
Also it's EraserHEAD Books (like David Lynch's first full-length movie), not Eraser.
No doubt.
In all honesty, Stephen, I hope your book sucks because if that really was the reason for your rejection that is disappointing. I love theology and I love seeing it's representations in all different forms of literature.

I know it doesn't suck. LOL I had three editors on it, Kealan Patrick Burke was the last and he was highly impressed as were the rest. He said he was having a hard time polishing it because he was getting into it too much. I've given out copies to my writer friends so far and all of them are flabberghasted. Told me it was the best book they read in years, which sort of floored me since these guys have been writting for years
I also have a couple of Phd's wanting to write the forward to it that study theology and LSD at MAPS.org. The Multidisciplenary Association for Psychedelic Studies. I write for the newsletter now, they came to me after they got wind of the book.
Interesting and since it's self published, I can change it whenever I need to and adding a forward from a college professor is pretty easy.
I only shopped it around for a month and the rejection letters were interesting. It's too unique for our label. Can you tone down the drug use and violence? I had two Christian agents courting me and that's exactly what they said. Can you tone down Hell and take out the cursewords and even whitewash some of the drug use? Those agents were looking for a 23 minutes in Hell type of book. Other agents didn't know where it would fall under. Horror, memoir, religion, drug addiction? They were sort of baffled but since it didn't fall under a specific genre, they passed.
I even made sure two of my editors were atheists to get their take on it and they said it was astounding, never pushing my beliefs on anybody and even leaving the trip to Hell open for interpretation was a remarkable move on my part.
Luckily, since this is my first book, some of my writer friends who read it wants to help me push it and get it out there because they said it's one of those important books that needs to be read. Saying, it's going to be a slow burn type of book that when people read it, they will tell other people since it is so unique.
It's why I hit the Bizarro guys up. It's just so out there and when I went thru it, I was going out of my mind. Reincarnation, splitting of the ego, possession of friends by other entities, meeting the Devil, not knowing it until after the fact then meeting God and then being sent to Hell.
I know, I sound insane. You should have seen me at a couple of author panels at a horror convention I just came back from. Sort of freaked people out. I sold 25 copies of the limited edition version that is S&N with an alternate cover at 25 bucks each. That was nice.
Self publishing is totally different then the dvd business I do with Unearthed Films but I have a lot of fans from that so it's been helping sales. I've been telling everyone the release date for Hellucination is Oct 21st. Sort of funny since Harold Camping said it would be the end of the world. I didn't know that until today. LOL
Sorry for bending your ear too much. Just excited about the release coming up. I'm going to be doing a give-away for ten copies here to get the word out on Good reads. I have it available on eBook up here and you can read 21% of it to see if your interested. It's really weird since it's a memoir that details my childhood, loss of faith and up. I tell everyone, just get to chapter 6, then it's going to get crazy and lucky for me, advanced readers enjoy the childhood chapters enough to not put it down.
Just whatever you do... look out for Alien Spiders. Their a bitch.

Grumble mumble... make me edit my post cause I sounded like an idiot... mumble grumble... LOL

Take it easy on my. LOL I just meant I can ship a copy out to you while shipping to whoever I am. LOL

I'm Sarah. I live in Alaska. I enjoy reading Bizarro, horror, Urban Fantasy, but NOT Paranormal Romance. I like to shop local and I'm an omnivore. I'm a Sergeant in the Bizarro Brigade.
I joined Goodreads to see what all the hub-bub was about.
Thank you for the offer, Stephen, I would normally take it but I have a lot lined up in the next few months and couldn't promise a review anytime soon.
Welcome Sarah and don't worry, I read enough romance for the both of us.

Hello all. I'm an avid reader and a horror/bizarro author. Glad to see a group on Goodreads.

Hello people, I'm a french canadian, I've been into bizarro lit quite heavily in the last year. I also like intelligent stand-up comedians, surreal movies and weird shit. Soon, I'll start learning english litterature so I can write stories properly. If you have book recommendations for me, don't hesitate.
