Jessica | 446 comments Just finished Vostok by Steve Alten. I'm still shaking my head over it, wondering "what the heck did I just read??" It was odd and disjointed.

Just finished The Dragon Reborn on audible. I’m pretty sure I’ll never get bored of revisiting this world.

I'm finishing up A Memory of Light tonight :)

rin (rintroversion) | 162 comments I finished Snow Crash. After reading the BOTM thread for it I was prepared for a disappointing ending but I thought it had a lot of action in it, which is one of the highlights of Snow Crash. In the end I have mixed feelings about Snow Crash but overall, the balance is tipped in its favour.

I read Vox by Christina Dalcher and it mostly read like a rip off of The Handmaid’s Tale.

rin (rintroversion) | 162 comments Finished the novella Binti (Binti, #1) by Nnedi Okorafor by Nnedi Okorafor yesterday. The hero is imagined as a spacefaring-age Himba tribesperson in a very fully-rounded way. Looking forward to the second and third short books in the trilogy.

rin (rintroversion) | 162 comments Concluded Quicksilver (The Baroque Cycle, #1, Book 1) by Neal Stephenson on audiobook. I love how Neal Stephenson makes science accessible through his characters and creates a genuine sense of wonder at mathematics, astronomy, chemistry and other subjects. However I am torn over the length of his books / series ... I didn't realise I was investing in seven audiobook purchases as on paper The Baroque Cycle was published as a trilogy...! Torn because it sometimes feels rambling but on the other hand it's usually engaging rambling that comes back to tie together with other parts! (I've previously read Cryptonomicon and Snow Crash, both times on audio.)

Bee (be_aesthete) | 7 comments I just finished A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. I didn't like it as much as the first two books but I'm still looking forward to the 4th to see how everything comes together!
