That's awesome news! Love Red Rising Trilogy.

Finished reading The Book of Three yesterday.Read it as like a buddy read with a friend on mine who is not on GR (I keep telling him to check it out, he just hasn't yet).
My friend and I both enjoyed it and we will probably finish reading the series.
I still have to catch up on Red Rising and Golden Son before I can get into Morning Star... I have them on my shelf but I still haven't gotten around to reading them.. yuch...

It is a good series. I was able to get The High King signed before he died.

Just finished Calamity - I really really like it and really like the end. I have exceedingly high expectations for Brandon Sanderson and I was not disappointed
Morning Star, Calamity and A Gathering of Shadows all coming out so close has really packed up my reading for next month

I had started Morning Star but put it down for Calamity, I'm a Sanderson fanboy!!!

I bought Morning Star and am waiting for a library copy of Calamity. I guess you can see which author I prefer :-)
Just finished Tomorrow the Killing by Daniel Polansky. The second book of the Low Town trilogy. I must say it's one of my favourite settings as of late. In most fantasy games I usually play as the Thief/Rogue character my first playthrough, so a series set almost exclusively in the slums is right up my alley. I recommend it.

Apparently there are a lot of mixed reviews on this, I was just reading on reddit that quite a few people didn't like it.

Vera I read the Dragonbone Chair last year and thought it was pretty good. Definitely high fantasy from before all the gritty stuff started. I found it took me forever to finish, not that I was putting off reading it but it's a long ass book. I do have Stones of Farewell on my shelf to read at some point but after the amount of time DBC took me I had to change it up and just have yet to get back to it.
Binibic is a great character. I always envisioned him as having an almost frog-like mouth.

I just finished Michael J Sullivan's Blood of Thieves (so fun) and Aprilynne Pike's Earthquake (interesting ideas).

Slow going, but great world and character builds.
Just finished Ancillary Justice yesterday. While good, I wasn't that impressed. It was ok. I'm not in a hurry to continue the series.

Hi Christina... feel free to check out the spoiler discussion thread of Ancillary Justice - it was a previous BoTM. Feel free to contribute or just have a read :)

I just finished a re-read of The Fox and the Star (took me all of 5 mins) - It's one of the loveliest, most beautiful books i've ever read/owned. So highly recommend it. This book is as much a keepsake as a beautiful story, the illustrations are beyond stunning.
Stone of Farewell: in depth characters and world. Waiting on part 1 of the ending. In the meantime reading - Magician: Apprentice and Magician: Master
I just finished Illuminae, which I think is a YA book. The format is a lot of fun, and the AI personality was great. enjoyed it.
I have magician: apprentice on my shelf to read this year and stone of farewell as well.
Last book I read was The Rising by Ian Tregellis. Love the alternate history setting and the argument/discussion on free will.
It is the second I the Alchemy Wars series which has become one of my favourite recent series. Highly recommend it.

I just finished the Earthbound trilogy. It's an interesting premise, but it's written in present tense, and I am getting so tired of books in present tense.
I have started Retribution Falls, which is promising so far. I can't remember who here first recommended it; sorry.

Audrey, yes, Retribution Falls is amazing! I've read it twice so far and it's still on my shelf for future re-reads. There are three books in the series but they are all stand alone stories which I really like in these days of the endless sequel. So you can enjoy the fantastic characters again without the pressure of any story cliff hangers. Enjoy :-)
Not to be a stinker Dawn but there are 4 books and I would definitely suggest reading them in publication order because there are certain elements that do continue from book to book that will cause spoilers if you read in the wrong order. But yes, amazing series!! One of my favourites.

Rinn it was spaceships/AI/bio-scare meets tv crime drama format to me. Or something like that :) I am on to The Martian and Kindred now.

It was probably Lancer who pointed me toward Retribution Falls. I'm thinking I need a cat named Slag now. (I usually name cats after Red Dwarf or Harry Potter characters.)

I finished The Madman's Daughter last night. A perfect example of why I don't like romance in my books :p It annoyed me the whole story. I'm not saying it's badly written, I'm just a heartless person who doesn't want the characters to be loved... And still it made me cry in the end. Again, not saying it was that well written, it just hit a bit too close to home.
You heartless person, you ;)
I'm not a fan of romance either, and I've found more and more people feel the same. I don't mind it as an element, but not when it takes over the story. HOWEVER I do make an exception with historical fiction, I have no idea why... Well, as long as the character isn't constantly pining over their love, that gets annoying quick.

Any Ken Liu fans here? I just finished his collection The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories which will appear tomorrow. Read my review here.
Just finish Morning Star today and I must say that it was a satisfying ending to an incredible trilogy. Will definitely be keeping my eyes open for whatever Pierce Brown releases next.

Pssst. It's going to be more books in the Red Rising universe.

I finished reading 'The Epic of Gilgamesh' yesterday. But it wasn't as good as I expected. And started reading Metamorphosis for now. :)
Started reading A Gathering of Shadows and it's so boring, nothing exciting happens for 200 pages. Went to the DNF pile...
