Question About Page Numbers

From the librarian manual:
The number of pages in a book is meant to include all content except for advertisements and preview chapters for other books. Included end material may include acknowledgments, afterwords, appendices, glossaries, indexes, notes, and suggested discussion questions.
Introductory material paged using roman numerals is not included in the total page count.

Thank you! I can never remember where to look for the link to the manual!

I always just go to the home page of this group to find the link.

I have a book in hand with preview chapters inserted right after the main text but before content that should be counted in the total (acknowledgments, about the author). Should I use the total number of pages minus the preview content or use only the number of pages up to the preview content?
It's a judgment call, but I vote for:

Scott wrote: "I wouldn't normally include acknowledgments or about the author, anyway."
If they immediately follow the text, they should be included.
If they immediately follow the text, they should be included.

The librarian manual says to include the acknowledgments in the count, but is it always a judgment call (or just in non-standard situations like this)?
I would say only in situations like this. (But it's usually a difference of 1-2 pages, so it's not a super-critical issue.)
I would like to correct the number of pages, however, I'm not sure if I should use the page number where the actual story ends (pg. 320) or use the one where the book ends (pg. 330). Those last 10 pages are an excerpt from another book.
Assistance appreciated.
