Rosie (rosie32) This was such a brilliant book- from the first page to the last page i was intrigued. This book and the concepts it explores in it are so important and real. The characters are each individual and different in their own ways. They all had their own problems. I felt the characters were extremely relatable and were completely real. This book made me laugh and cry, at one point i thought i might not be able to finish it, but i dud and I'm very glad i have. Its made me think more about the issues discussed and put forward in the book. John Green is just an amazing author and i need to read more of his books.

*please don't view the spoiler unless you have read the whole book*

I give this book 5 stars as it is sooooooo good.

Neha (neha71580) | 528 comments 13% I'm already liking the novel. Unlike other John Green books, I didn't require a dictionary so far (trust me, I've used a LOT of dictionary to know the specific meaning of some words in his novels). And the list thing also reminds me a lot of John Green's videos. (view spoiler)

Neha (neha71580) | 528 comments I'm sorry, but the book was impossible to leave, so I just read it whole. It was a pretty awesome read. The main plot is small, so I wouldn't recommend it for the story, but the characters, because the internal conflicts the characters go is worth reading. Here's my non-spoiler review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Anne (annwiththee) I fell asleep on the book. Just woke up.

I like Miles so far. And his narrative voice is good. I haven't read enough of the book to form a standard opinion.

How about you? What do you think?

I'm 24% done (reading the ebook) and so far I'm not really feeling it.

Melany (mel-mel-any) | 1341 comments So far the character I like the most is The Colonel

Anne (annwiththee) I don't see any significance in this book *sigh*

Melany (mel-mel-any) | 1341 comments Lol I didn't like it either!

Kirsty | 1307 comments I've only read 27% so far, but I really don't like it. The characters are very annoying and nothing seems to be happening. Also it seems very similar to Paper Towns.

Which way is similar? I haven't read Paper Towns?

Thanks, and very true, it does sounds very similar.

The characters just seem really similar. Alaska reminds me a lot of Margo. I'm also guessing that Alaska goes missing and Miles has to find her which is a bit like in Paper Towns as Margo disappears and the main character tries to find her.

Kinda of. They are very similar.

I know they were crazily exaggerated. It made them unbearable and not endearing. I really really had a hard time finishing the book. But when I got to the "After", I got a little motivation and sped up my reading.

Now I think about the book, I realize I dislike Alaska terribly. And yet I like her. It's just mental. I feel so controversial towards this book.

Totally agree with you. Alaska made me love and hate her at the same time. Love her for changing Pudge into someone different but hate her for her capricious character.

No more John Green books for me. Venturing into another one would only be characterized as voluntary suffering--and I am not that masochistic.

Good for you Kirsty! I need to see this book from someone else's POV. I'll look out for your review :)

Kirsty | 1307 comments I finished the book today and gave it 3 stars. I had such mixed feelings about it, the first part of it really didn't interest me. I didn't like the characters and nothing really seemed to be happening. The characters didn't seem particularly original and some of them reminded me of other John Green characters.

Then I got to the After part and I was really shocked and was excited to see what was going to happen as it seemed finally something had happened. I was further disappointed as the characters tried to find out what happened to Alaska, but we never get an answer to what actually happened. I was expecting a dramatic ending but the actual ending was very anti-climatic and the last prank just seemed pointless and not really funny.

This isn't the worse John Green book I have read that spot is reserved for An Abundance of Katherines and Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I feel that John Green books are overhyped and my overall experience with him has an author has been disappointing. Out of his 5 books I have really only enjoyed 2.

Which were the two you liked? I feel the same way. I was very disappointed in her friends the way they spoke about and how they blamed her. The only part I really liked was the finally prank.

The two I liked were The Fault in Our Stars and Paper Towns although the ending of Paper Towns did disappoint me.
