TPT is integrating numerous changes and additions to ring in the New Year. In an effort to liven up the challenges section, the mods are proud to present... Prize Points!

What are Prize Points?
Prize Points will serve as a form of currency here at TPT. They are virtual points which members can earn and spend within the group.

How can I earn Prize Points?
You can earn Prize Points by...
✩Winning or successfully completing challenges

Every challenge will designate how many Prize Points will be awarded to members who complete the challenge, or to members who come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. This number will vary depending upon the challenge.

✩Nominating a book for a Monthly or Series Read

Members are invited to nominate one books per month for our upcoming Monthly Read. Members may also nominate Series for our monthly Series Reads. Every nomination will earn you 10 Prize Points.

✩Voting in a Monthly or Series Read poll

After Monthly Read nominations have ended, all nominated books are placed in a poll and members are given one week to vote for their favorite. Series Read polls are created on the 14th of every month to determine which books will become our upcoming Series Reads. Every vote in a Monthly or Series Read poll will earn you 5 Prize Points.

✩Participating in a Monthly or Series Read

Once a Monthly or Series Read has begun, all members are encouraged to participate in the discussion surrounding the selected book. Every discussion post in a Monthly or Series Read thread will earn you 20 Prize Points.

✩Participating in a Buddy Read

Buddy Reads are an excellent way to connect with fellow readers and discuss a particular book or series. Every discussion post in a Buddy Read thread will earn you 20 Prize Points.

✩Participating in R&R

R&R, or Read and Review, is an excellent way for members to receive free books in exchange for an honest review. Every review that is posted will earn you 100 Prize Points

✩Participating in a TBR Twins Discussion

The TBR Twins program will hopefully help a few of us slim down our very large TBR shelves. For every discussion post you make in the TBR Twins folder, you will receive 20 Prize Points.

How can I spend Prize Points
Prize Points can be redeemed for the following items:

20,000 Points: Moderator for a Month Gift Card
A Moderator for a Month Gift Card gives the redeemer moderator privileges for one (1) month. On the 1st of the upcoming month, the redeemer will be promoted to the position of moderator. On the last day of the month, the redeemer will return to member status.


10,000 Points: Monthly and Series Read Selector Gift Card
A Monthly and Series Read Selector Gift Card entitles the redeemer to select one book/series of his/her choosing to become the Monthly or Series Read for the upcoming month. Please note that this card must be redeemed before Monthly Read Nominations close for the month.


5,000 Points: Voting Power Gift Card
A Voting Power Gift Card can be redeemed on any Monthly or Series Read poll. When redeemed, it will give the book of your choice 20 additional votes, improving its chances of being selected as a Monthly or Series Read.


1,000 Points: Challenge Extension Gift Card
A Challenge Extension Gift Card can be redeemed during any challenge, extending the end date for 1 month. For example, if you are participating in a challenge which ends on January 20th, but think that you need some extra time, you can redeem a Challenge Extension Gift Card. This would move the deadline (for you only) to February 20th. Please note that Challenge Extension Gift Cards cannot be redeemed after a challenge has already ended.

How do I redeem Prize Points?
You can redeem Prize Points by PMing and moderator with the name(s) of the giftcard(s) which you would like to purchase. A moderator will respond with further instructions on how to use your giftcard.

How do I keep track of my Prize Points?
The mods have created a Google Spreadsheet here to keep track of all Prize Points and Gift Cards. Please note that, while it is updated on a daily basis, your points will not instantaneously appear. A moderator must tally up the number of Prize Points earned by each member on a particular day and manually enter them on the spreadsheet.


Are there any questions?

Members are added to the Google Doc on a daily basis. A moderator has to tally up all points that every member has earned throughout the day. Therefore, the Google Doc will not immediately reflect any Prize Points that you earn.
