Christina | 4293 comments Is The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa a blue book? It's tough to judge..

message 254: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90960 comments Mod
I don't think so :( My copy looks more green than anything, but I think there are too many different colours for it to really count as any one colour.

message 255: by Noella (new)

Noella (kookiemonstar) | 3613 comments Is The Summer I Turned Pretty (Summer, #1) by Jenny Han A OK for the white square?

message 256: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90960 comments Mod
Yeah, I think that's roughly 60% ☺

message 257: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments @Sarah
Ah no probs! Found something to fill :)

message 258: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Another question, sorry... Can 1 book count for a "buddy read" point AND a move on the board?

message 259: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90960 comments Mod
Yes, the number of pages is how many places you move, but points wise you get 1 point for reading the book, and an extra point if you buddy read. So if you read Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout , which is ~335 pages, you would get 1 point for reading the book, a second for a buddy read, and then you would move 3 places on the board ☺

message 260: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Got itttttt! Thank you :)

message 261: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments BTW I invited a couple friends to the group to play this game! And when goodreads tweeted me and asked what my favorite group was I said this one :)

I'm excited!

Not long now guys! Is everybody ready? ☺

message 264: by Kate (last edited Jan 31, 2014 11:39AM) (new)

Kate ★ (spillsandspoils) | 973 comments If for example we reached 100, can we still continue reading for more points?

EDIT: Oh wait, I guess not :) Never mind the question :p

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90960 comments Mod
The trick is to use the snakes and ladders to go down and then up again if you get to the top too quickly ☺

message 266: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53720 comments Mod
Yay I'm starting this today! :D I probably won't even read that much lol.

Thanks Sarah!

message 269: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Is The Guard (The Selection #2.5) by Kiera Cass considered Fantasy and is Onyx (Lux, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout blue?

message 270: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Actually The Guard is too short so that one won't work.. Another question:

Can I do buddy reads for extra points that don't move me along the board or do all buddy reads move you along the spaces?

message 271: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90960 comments Mod
It isn't the buddy reads that move you spaces, it's the length of the book. Every book read will move you along the board. If you get to the top too quickly you can always go down a snake to prolong the game.

message 272: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90960 comments Mod
Onyx is blue ☺

message 273: by Kate (new)

Kate ★ (spillsandspoils) | 973 comments Can any of these be considered white :s

The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

message 274: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Right but what if the book I am buddy reading doesn't fit the square I'm on? Like for example if I'm reading Obsidian for a buddy read but I can't move off the yellow square with it so do I still get 1 point?

message 275: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53720 comments Mod
Oh we get points for buddy reads? Awesome!

message 276: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Is Ignite Me (Shatter Me, #3) by Tahereh Mafi blue?

message 277: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Sorry for all the ???s

message 278: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53720 comments Mod
Yeah I asked heaps of questions earlier haha. And I'd count that as blue.

message 279: by Cielo (new)

Cielo | 127 comments So you know how you're allowed to do 2 rereads. Does that mean books you've already read at some other point in your life, or books you read twice specifically for this challenge. Like if I've read a book before and I use it for the challenge, is that a reread, or is it a reread if I use it twice for the challenge?

message 280: by Noella (last edited Jan 31, 2014 03:57PM) (new)

Noella (kookiemonstar) | 3613 comments @Rachael If you read a book first that doesn't move you off the yellow square, still do a review and use the 'move' later on. So for example you read a blue book first. Don't submit that blue book's review in the review thread. Read a yellow book next. Use that yellow book to make your first move. Then if you land on a blue square at any time, you can use your blue book to move off it.

@Cielo
1. You can't read a review one you've written a review for
2. It's a reread if you've read a book before (in your life) cause then if you read it for the challenge you have to submit a review for the book and then 1. would apply.
3. It has to be longer than one year since you've read the book so that means you can't read it twice for a challenge lol

This is what I gathered from reading this thread hehe

message 281: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Ohhh okay that makes sense :) thanks!

message 282: by Cielo (new)

Cielo | 127 comments Say your first book moved you three spaces, technically that would land you on space four, which is blue, but there's a ladder there that takes you to space fourteen, which is green. So which colored book would you have to read next, green or blue?

Heather | 10157 comments Cielo wrote: "Say your first book moved you three spaces, technically that would land you on space four, which is blue, but there's a ladder there that takes you to space fourteen, which is green. So which color..."

you go up the ladder...that is what I am doing as well and you would have to read green #14

message 284: by Christina (new)

Christina | 4293 comments Is Devilish by Maureen Johnson a white book?

message 285: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments Alright, I may suck at doing this, but let's give it a try lol I'm in! :)

message 286: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments yayyyy des!! <3

message 287: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments Okay, so tomorrow it starts...Um, what do we do? We begin reading our first book and theeeen...how do you know of our progress? We post it here?

message 288: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments So your first book must qualify for the yellow square. After you read it you post in this thread like this:

Square played: No 7 - White
Qualification: dystopian
Book Length: 487 pages
Squares moved: 4
New Square: No 11 - Red
Review: Link
Buddy: yes/no - link

And then the mods will keep track of your progress and points

message 289: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments ^_^ <3 <~~~ Rachel I'm starting with Into The Still Blue! Epp!

message 290: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments So if you read a book with a yellow cover or one from the scavenger hunt list and the book had 350 pages, you would move forward 3 spaces. Then land on 4 and slide up the ladder

message 291: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments Go to the buddy reads wanted thread!

message 293: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments @Rachel... OooOoo haha, yeah, I had NO idea what I was doing. So everyone first starts with Yellow. I thought you picked according to where you wanted to move next. Didn't know you follow it chronologically. Haha...Hmm, so...what's my first book then... *searches bookshelf*

message 294: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments I'm reading Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy, #1) by Anna Banks starting tomorrow and the buddy read thread for it is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

So that book would get you to square 4 and up the ladder and you get an extra point for participating in the buddy read discussion :)

message 295: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments Does Graceling qualify as a Yellow Book?

message 296: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments Sorry, got tons of questions here lol ...So If Graceling qualifies (how are y'all putting book pics in comments, btw) pages:471 means I move 4 spaces and then land on Blue? or Green next? (So I can plan next book)

message 297: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments the way you put it in as a link just switch the dot over to cover

message 298: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments You would be on square 5 with that book if it counts as yellow, I'm not sure though

message 299: by Desiree (new)

Desiree Ortega | 12 comments Ah! You've been a life-saver! lol thanks ;)

message 300: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 5933 comments There's a girl looking for a buddy to read that book with her over on the other thread if you want
