Snakes and Ladders Challenge ☺ Sign Up and Questions
I don't think so :( My copy looks more green than anything, but I think there are too many different colours for it to really count as any one colour.
Yes, the number of pages is how many places you move, but points wise you get 1 point for reading the book, and an extra point if you buddy read. So if you read
, which is ~335 pages, you would get 1 point for reading the book, a second for a buddy read, and then you would move 3 places on the board ☺

BTW I invited a couple friends to the group to play this game! And when goodreads tweeted me and asked what my favorite group was I said this one :)I'm excited!
If for example we reached 100, can we still continue reading for more points?EDIT: Oh wait, I guess not :) Never mind the question :p
The trick is to use the snakes and ladders to go down and then up again if you get to the top too quickly ☺
Actually The Guard is too short so that one won't work.. Another question:Can I do buddy reads for extra points that don't move me along the board or do all buddy reads move you along the spaces?
It isn't the buddy reads that move you spaces, it's the length of the book. Every book read will move you along the board. If you get to the top too quickly you can always go down a snake to prolong the game.
Right but what if the book I am buddy reading doesn't fit the square I'm on? Like for example if I'm reading Obsidian for a buddy read but I can't move off the yellow square with it so do I still get 1 point?
So you know how you're allowed to do 2 rereads. Does that mean books you've already read at some other point in your life, or books you read twice specifically for this challenge. Like if I've read a book before and I use it for the challenge, is that a reread, or is it a reread if I use it twice for the challenge?
@Rachael If you read a book first that doesn't move you off the yellow square, still do a review and use the 'move' later on. So for example you read a blue book first. Don't submit that blue book's review in the review thread. Read a yellow book next. Use that yellow book to make your first move. Then if you land on a blue square at any time, you can use your blue book to move off it.@Cielo
1. You can't read a review one you've written a review for
2. It's a reread if you've read a book before (in your life) cause then if you read it for the challenge you have to submit a review for the book and then 1. would apply.
3. It has to be longer than one year since you've read the book so that means you can't read it twice for a challenge lol
This is what I gathered from reading this thread hehe
Say your first book moved you three spaces, technically that would land you on space four, which is blue, but there's a ladder there that takes you to space fourteen, which is green. So which colored book would you have to read next, green or blue?

Okay, so tomorrow it starts...Um, what do we do? We begin reading our first book and theeeen...how do you know of our progress? We post it here?
So your first book must qualify for the yellow square. After you read it you post in this thread like this:Square played: No 7 - White
Qualification: dystopian
Book Length: 487 pages
Squares moved: 4
New Square: No 11 - Red
Review: Link
Buddy: yes/no - link
And then the mods will keep track of your progress and points
So if you read a book with a yellow cover or one from the scavenger hunt list and the book had 350 pages, you would move forward 3 spaces. Then land on 4 and slide up the ladder
@Rachel... OooOoo haha, yeah, I had NO idea what I was doing. So everyone first starts with Yellow. I thought you picked according to where you wanted to move next. Didn't know you follow it chronologically. Haha...Hmm, so...what's my first book then... *searches bookshelf*
I'm reading
starting tomorrow and the buddy read thread for it is here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...So that book would get you to square 4 and up the ladder and you get an extra point for participating in the buddy read discussion :)
Sorry, got tons of questions here lol ...So If Graceling qualifies (how are y'all putting book pics in comments, btw) pages:471 means I move 4 spaces and then land on Blue? or Green next? (So I can plan next book)
