I knew as soon as you said that that you were talking about Pact Arcanum. That made me so mad I got really angry. At one point Nick even says that he and Jeremy are soul mates. How can he let his soul mate die? How can he even think about anyone else at that point? And then I hear what happens in the third or fourth book is what Rory and the other dark vampire (can't remember his name) decide is going to happen. I have another friend who wanted Rory and Nick to end up together but Rory is an asshole being with someone when he's in love with someone else and makes that very clear.

Oh God, you got me started.

Okay, I'm sick, too, but just a cold, not the flu. I can read with a cold, but I can't concentrate well. For the next couple of days I'm going to read something fluffy--alpha shifter finds his soul mate in an omega twink. They're all the same so I don't really need to pay a lot of attention.

I want to really be able to have coherent discussion about A Better Man so I'll start Saturday (it's basically Thursday night here) and I read really fast so I'll have it done Sunday. I think tomorrow is going to be that hump day I need to get over. I feel it starting, you know that day when you feel so awful you just want to sleep but you can't because you're coughing up a lung? :)

Okay, off to bed with me. Don't spoil it anyone!

That book is really bad, huh?

Bookwatcher Finish it!!!!
knowing the ex-publisher of this story lost many writers when they stop paying royalties, here another one, one more I'm happy to keep reading and buying the second of this series!

I love the romanticism, even if some may consider it extremely sappy. I like sappy :) and I ADORE happy ends so looking forward for more!! And happy it will be release by another publisher. If it was from Silver I would not buy it. I don't buy books from them anymore. Not while they don't pay writers as they should.

Awesome! Yeah, they have caused problems for a lot of authors. It's sad, but at least they have the option of other publishers or self-publishing. :)

Yes
They did. And I know many people don't talk about it (fear or backlash?). Many writers silently publish somewhere else their books. Others said it out loud. I don't buy from them and will not again, knowing the money I'm paying is not going to the writers, but to the publisher pocket. I want to be sure my money will support the writer and knowing that publisher problems with money I don't trust them at all. I don't know who they pay or not. So I don't buy any. And when writers take their stories to other publishers, as in the case of this one, I will buy it :-)

Trisha Harrington Bookwatcher wrote: "Trisha wrote: "Bookwatcher wrote: "Finish it!!!!

Yeah, as well as that, some people don't want to start anything. Can't say I blame them. People can turn really nasty when they want to. :)
I prefer publishers who support their authors instead of trying to do them out of money.

Bookwatcher After this observations of why I will keep reading it (not a Silver published story anymore) I must say:
1) I love Matt, he is strong but also very insecure. I wish he could see how amazing he is (view spoiler)
2) I like the romance. Not always I'm in the mood for sappy romance. I was now so I had a great time and a lot of fun reading it. Dialogs as
"I love you"
"I love you more"
Made me say AWWWWWWWW
:D
3) I want to know how things will go on. (view spoiler)

The next book is Cam's book. And it will be over 100k words. So it should have a lot of good stuff in it. :)

Bookwatcher I really small observation. At one point Julian said
capisce

I know it sounds good and it's a very used word in Italian. But it's wrong. Julian is talking to Matt. He know Matt, so the right use should be
capisci
"i" not "e"
capisce : formal way, like talking to someone you don't know well. Or third person use, he or she.

Oh, I never knew that, tbh. Do you pronounce it the same way? :)

No no. The pronounce of capisci and capisce is different. Italians always said to me "you must pronounce exactly as you read". I and E have the sound of I or E. different. Lol. True. I learn Italian know it, you must know how to pronounce each letter, and speaking pronouncing each one, and it's done. You speak Italian. Lol

Formal speech have a different verbal way, like in this case it's E at the end the one used for formal speech (or third person, obviously also that one)

"My cat understand what I say" / "Do you understand what I'm saying?" (second phrase is talking to you, close friend)

"Il mio gatto capisci cosa dico"
"capisci quello che sto dicendo?"

Let's pretend I'm talking to one professor of university I don't know well
"Do you understand me?"
You MUST said it like this
"(Lei) mi capisce?"

Lei - formal to you. Used for both he or she. And look the verb, now it has "e" not "I"

Trisha Harrington Bookwatcher wrote: "Trisha wrote: "Bookwatcher wrote: "I really small observation. At one point Julian said

Ah, I get what you mean. :D
You have formal and informal words in Italian. :)

Bookwatcher Another example. To confound you, it's the opposite. Lol
Verb: scusare

You are in Italy, lost, and want to ask information. You don't know the person you are talking to, because you stop someone that was passing by
"Sorry, can I ask you..."
Formal speech, Italian : "Scusi, posso chiderLa..." (yes, that L is on capital of you write it)
So as you saw, verb "scusare". Normal speech is "scusa" while formal speech is "scusi"

Lol. I really need to write more Italian characters! :D
Scusa is for people you know, scusi is for those you don't. Got it! :D

Bookwatcher 100€ for the Italian lesson
I accept PayPal

Lol

I don't want to say it's a HUGEEEEEE problem in the story, and Julian is not Italian, but has Italian origins. But I feel it's my duty to say he said it wrong, because he said "capisce" to Matt, not "capisci" the right.

I admit it

Lol. No, not annoying! :D

Kelly (Maybedog) English corrupts words from many different languages. I bet that capisce will soon be in the dictionary as an English word. A lot of Yiddish words are used, too, and probably incorrectly, too. Some have already crossed over. For example, schmuck is in the English dictionary. The Swahili word safari has also come over which is mispronounced. Sigh. I'm glad you are here to help us out, though! I really hate how early Italian, i.e., Latin, is mispronounced or used incorrectly so often when it's been made into an English word.

BevS I lOVE hearing Italian spoken, can't speaka da language myself other than the pathetic words that have been 'anglicised' or should I say 'americanised', it's such a vivid and energetic language and so expressive...and I say that as someone who did Latin at school!! But it is really annoying when you know that something's wrong in a book and it wouldn't have taken a lot for the author to get it right!!

Oh, and Cam's book is scheduled for April according to Jaime's newsletter. Glad you all enjoyed it. <3

I guess it's kind of like accents. People get things wrong when they don't normally speak like that. :)
