Once Upon A Time and Lara

She was leaving."Wait. You feel sad don't you? You want the pain to go away. Don't you?" She said these words soothingly and hypotonic.

Sam paused Arae, and turned. What she said was true. The women's voice was soothing. "Yes." She said. watching as the witch grew closer.

She eyed Maria. "You know what. I saw your power back there the last time we meant. They should of respected you more. You heard and saw how Danny treated you." Her voice was gentle. "I know a way to for you to forget about them." She looked up and gave her a smile.

Sam felt sad at her words. She did remember how Danny treated her. She wanted to be respected. Calla was a queen, and James and her were happy together. She, she was a no body. The witch was offering her a way to forget. "How?" She asked, "How can I forget?"

"Come to me. I can show you how to forget if you come to me. This will teach them to show you respect. Don't they always jump right away when Calla is hurt or something goes wrong with her. But how about you? You have feelings too." She still had her hypnotic tone in her voice. She smiled at this girl.

Sam moved closer. Yes. What this women was saying was true! She moved closer and closer until she could reach out and arm and touch the witch. Sam didn't think. She just knew that she felt sad. And she wanted to forget. "Make me forget." She said.

"Ok." She touched her. Blackness cover eyes."It will feel like something is inside you. Don't fight. Let it make you forget the pain that they caused you. Remember how Danny treated you and how they are always worried for Calla. This will make you forget it." Her voice was so soothing. She eyed Marie. To hold her.

Sam felt it. The darkness. It was cold, but it let her slip away. It let her forget. She felt anger. Anger towards Calla, James and Danny. Anger that they never appreciated her, anger that they didn't like her. The blackness spread over her body, and then over Arae as well, for a dragon and rider are connected. Sam did not move her eyes away from the witch. She stayed there, staring, as the darkness filled her.

She kept giving her darkness."How do you feel? It makes you forget doesn't it. You like this feeling don't you?"

"Yes." Sam said. The darkness filled her completely. She was dark. She liked the feeling. "Yes I do like it." It let her forget. Now people would respect her.

"You want more don't you?The only way to get more of that feeling is to turn someone or take their power." She smiled her job was almost completed."Calla is coming. What are going to do?"

James gasped, recognizing Sam. But she was... no that's not possible! She was black! "Calla. I can't fight dark witches, you are going to need to help out here. I seriously don't know what to do." He knew Sam was powerful before, and now, even more so. He was scared, he wanted to go back, but he knew how much Calla cared for Sam, so he stayed with her.

"When your done with her. Bring her and the boy to me please. Then you can seek your revenge on Danny." She looked up with the satisfied work she completed."You know where to find me." Then she was gone.

Sam drew closer and closer. She needed to forget. Remembering hurt too much. She would turn Calla. Then she would feel better. She and Calla could be dark witches together. Yes. Then she would get respect. She drew closer and closer, ready to attack....

Sam reached them and Arae bit into Dusk's neck. While the dragons battled, Sam flew over and pulled out a sword. "I wanted to be your friend Calla." She said sadly, "I came to show you how good it feels to forget the wrong others did to you. You could forget about the pain. The pain of who you are, the pain of your parents dying." She looked sadly at Calla, "But you pull out your sword instead. I guess I always knew you didn't really want to be my friend." She said. Then the anger came again. It was so powerful. It made her tremble. She swung her sword with all her might.

Sam gasped, it felt like a beast was tearing at her insides. She wanted it to stop. She didn't care if she was bad or good any more. She didn't care if she died. She just wanted it to stop. "Help me." She gasped, rolling around on Arae's back, crying out in pain. She rolled to the edge of her wings, and dropped off. She couldn't fly. She couldn't do anything. She just wanted it to end. It hurt so bad. I must be melting She thought, as she fell towards the ground.

The world stopped spinning. Arae was white again, and not black. Sam could feel the last bit of darkness in her. She killed it with all she had. She remembered everything now. Guilt filled her like a storm. "I have disgraced my people." She said sadly. She gave all the energy that Calla had given her back, and then sat down on Arae's neck. "I am not fit to be here any longer." She said sadly. Danny didn't like her, and now she had just been a dark witch. She didn't belong her any more. "I must go."

Sam and Arae had started to fly away again. Sam didn't want to go, not really, but they didn't want her to stay, so she was leaving.
James looked up, "Sam, you have to stay. Calla needs you."
"No-one needs me." Sam told him. "Not anymore."
"How are we supposed to rule on our own?"
Sam smiled, "Exactly how you just said.... on your own."
James shook his head, "No, Calla is powerful, but you are powerful as well. We need all the help we can get. Please stay?"
"It's funny how you're the only one asking me to stay, and you already have a girlfriend."
James nodded, "That's just it, I'm doing it for Calla and you, not myself."
They need us. Arae suddenly said. We are a strong team, because we are the only dragon and riders who have been working together so far. Sam nodded, persuaded by Arae and not James. "I will go back with you to make sure Calla is ok. If she is, we will leave."

"What is wrong?" Sam asked. She was worried. Would all of her mistakes cause her friend to die now too? She had given back all of her powers, so what was wrong now?

Sam followed closely behind, and they all slid off their dragons.
James lay Calla on the ground, and Sam, Dusk and Arae came over to see what was happening. What is wrong with the young witch? Arae asked Sam. "I do not know." Sam answered. "I really do not know."
James looked down at Calla. Dusk put his head next to him and nudged him gently. Will she be ok? He asked. James nodded, "Yes, she is a strong girl." He turned to Calla, "Listen, you have to tell us what is wrong if you want us to help you." He said.

"James my power is fading. If feels like hunter poison. I wasn't near no hunter poison since I got shot." She winced. Her body wasn't moving. She screamed in agony.

Sam shook her head, "I know you can. You must. For Calla, and for me. I am too weak still to do it myself."
Arae dipped her head, snaking her neck towards Calla. she touched her nose to Calla's forehead and closed her eyes, concentrating.
James watched as the dragon touched Calla. He knew dragons had more powerful magic than humans, but dragons were unpredictable. He wasn't sure if it would work. But he really hoped it would.

"Sam did you hear me are you ok?" He really need to work things out with her.

James nodded, "I know it does. But Arae can fix you." He said softly. "It'll be ok."
Arae's eyes glowed white, and she kept her nose touching Calla's forehead. It is almost done. She told Sam.

"Sam we need to talk." He wasn't going to let her go from him again.

Arae sat back in satisfaction. She had done something right! Sam turned to Danny. What was he doing now? "Sure." She said. "About what." She still was not happy with him.

"I'm sorry, I really do like you. This dragon was just getting on my nerves." He pointed to Spot. He wanted her to forgive him.

Sam's stomach knotted up. They were alone, and he had just said... wow! He just said... Heat rose into her face. Did he really just say he liked me? She wondered.
Yes he did. Arae answered, amused. She could hear Sam's thoughts.
Sam looked down, embarrassed. She didn't know what to say, "I forgive you." She said quietly, "And I'm sorry for running away."

"I'm sorry for treating you badly." He smiled. "I don't really know how to talk to people that much." He quickly looked at the ground.

He just admitted something honestly! He wasn't making excuses, he wasn't fighting, he wasn't saying mean things! He was being honest! Sam lay a hand on his arm, he skin tingling, "It's ok." She said quietly. Lifting his chin with her finger so she could look into his eyes, she said, "Let's start again?"

James whistled from the doorway. Sam hadn't known he was watching. She blushed bright red.

Sam glared at the woman. She was evil. "Yes. Who wants to know." She asked. She mentally told Arae to change her flight pattern and leave the witches. They spun and flew away. Arae flapping as hard as she could. But the witches could fly too, and they were gaining...
