Sam and James both laughed. "Lets grab lunch first, shall we?" Sam asked Calla, "Then I will show you the fire room."James looked over at Spot, he was bigger as well, all three dragon's shoulders lined up with their own, their heads reaching well above their owners when raised. Still, they were small yet for dragons, and had a lot of growing left to do. It is said that a dragon grows the fastest in the first hour after hatching, so the dragons should be ride able after lunch. "Yes." He agreed, "Maybe Spot will follow you now." James said optimistically.
"Ok." She tried get beside James, but his dragon was in the way."Hi Dusk I know your new to this. So I'm going to explain this to I walk beside James." The dragon seemed of understand at least some of it because it moved."I wouldn't be talking. Your jealous of a dragon." He laughed.
James grinned, "Sorry Dusk. Looks like you're just too handsome. You can walk on the other side of me." He offered.Arae knocked her head between Sam's legs and then slid her neck all the way through, so that Sam was sitting on her back where her wings joined her neck. She grinned and laughed in glee, "This is so much fun!" She swung her legs back and forth, enjoying the ride.
"Hey im not jealous I'm practical. You better be careful or those ghosts will come after you again." She said smiling so big. She grabbed his hand."What ghosts?"
"You mean James didn't tell you about the ghosts." She couldn't help but laugh.
"No ghosts." James said quickly, "And even if there were any, I've got Dusk here to protect me." He gave the dragon a pat. Spotting how Sam was riding Arae, he stopped, grabbed a spine on Dusk's neck, and pulled himself up. He felt a rush of excitement, "When can we try flying?" He asked, as they reached the kitchen.
Calla felt hurt when she saw James get his dragon. She wanted to still be walking an holding his hands. Then she thought why would they hide a dragon in a public area."Sam is there any forbidden places here?" She saw much fun James was having without. She told herself that she was being silly.Danny's dragon still wouldn't listen to him. The only reason he was following him was because of Calla. She looked jealous. Why would she be jealous of a dragon?
"There is a place." She said. "The temple of the stars. But humans and witches are not allowed to enter." She said sadly. "I am not allowed in either, because I am not old enough. If your dragon is in there, he better come out to you, because if you went in, that would be seriously bad trouble for me." She said. She sat down at a table in the kitchen and waited.James slid off Dusk and sat down at the table as well. Dusk, Spot, and Arae left to a much larger table, where they sat down. James watched open mouthed, as dishes and trays of food began to float over to them, and set themselves on the table. Sam grinned at his shocked face.
"Who was the last person in there?" There has to be a way for her to get in there.without getting caught. She had an idea. She took the seat next to James. "Hi my big bad hunter boyfriend who isn't afraid of ghosts." She let a big smile come on her face."Why do keep mentioning ghosts?" Were there ghosts here?
Sam shook her head, "I don't know. I thought it was my father, but someone else could have been in there since then."James took a bite of some weird looking fruit, "Yup that's me." He turned to Danny, "There aren't any ghosts, just Calla." He grinned.
"When did your parents die Sam?" She looked over at James."He is very good at killing ghosts from behind people."She said with a bigger grin on her face. She bite her lip so she wouldn't laugh."So you jumped behind Calla because you thought she was a ghost?" He tried not to laugh.
Sam looked away, "When I was six." She said, "So ten years ago. But my father hung around for a bit after that, before moving on to the stars.""No." James retorted, "I thought there was another ghost." He said. "Ghosts are scary. You guys wouldn't know that." He shuddered.
"Oh I'm sorry my parents died when I was 10. So around 7 years." She looked up. She was thinking that her parents had some type of connection to Sam's parents."Yes you did. You were suppose to be comforting me not the other way around silly." Her voice was filled with laughter. "Why are afraid of ghosts?" Danny was laughing. He looked over at Spot."It would appear that Spot thinks it is funny too." He said smiling.
Calla reached over and smacked Danny."Only I'm allowed to make fun of James." She said very serious.
James smiled, "It's ok. I'm not afraid of them..." He said. Then he sighed, "I got stuck in an old cave once when I was little. There were real ghosts in there, and they weren't very friendly." He replied. Then he looked at Spot, "It would seem that Spot has warmed up to you Danny." James realized.Sam grinned, finishing her food. "Now that we are full, you guys want to try to fly on these guys?" She asked. All three baby dragons were done their growth spurts, and each were now 7 feet tall at the shoulder, and definitely big enough to carry passengers. She looked over at the dragon's table where the three dragons had finished, and walked over to join them. "I think they want to try out their wings.
James smiled, "It's ok. I'm not afraid of them..." He said. Then he sighed, "I got stuck in an old cave once when I was little. There were real ghosts in there, and they weren't very friendly." "Not all ghosts are bad some of them are more complicated than others." She smiled. "To bad I wasn't in that cave with you. I heard boys like holding girls when they are afraid." "When will you guys stop flirting with each other."
"The day you mind your own business." She paused for a second."Sam since we both have experience with dragons I say you help teach Danny and I will help James." She really wanted to be alone with him.
James laughed, "I thought it was the other way around." Then he looked over at Danny, "Why don't you find someone to flirt with yourself, then you wont mind so much."Sam nodded, "Sounds like a good idea." She said. "Come on Arae and Spot, we are going to teach you all that you need to know. There is a lot to learn, and not a lot of time to learn it in. War is coming. We must be ready."
"Let's go outside. We will have plenty of space out there." She then added to herself we will be alone outside at sunset. This made her happy. She walked ahead.She turned around."Come on James. I need to ask you something and I won't ask you until your right beside me." "Ok, so where we going?" He followed Sam through this maze of building. Someone could get lost through here.
James nodded and jogged to catch up with her, "Come on Dusk." He called to the black dragon. "Yeah? What did you want to ask me?"Sam smiled. "The big chamber. There is more than enough room to fly in there." They reached the chamber. "Ok, learning to fly is just as much a lesson for the rider, as it is for the dragon." She looked over at Spot who was eyeing Danny. Teaching you two should be interesting... She thought to herself. "What do you think we need to do first?"
"I been thinking about the ceremony that is suppose to be done on my birthday. I think it should be done earlier because my aunt is gaining more power and more witches each day. The only reason my aunt wants you dead is because when you gets your powers you will be either strong as me of stronger than me. With both us combined we will be unbeatable." She didn't meant to sound egotistic ,but it is the truth."First off I think we work the trust issues." He looked up at Sam for approval. She was pretty. She wasn't a witch so it wasn't forbidden really.
James nodded. He wasn't particularly excited about this power thing yet, but he wanted to be with Calla. "Ok." He said, "So we get married or something?" He asked, "Aren't we a little too young to get married?"Sam looked over at Danny. He was kinda handsome when he wasn't angry. She grinned and blushed a little, "I think you're right." She nodded. It sounded like a good plan. "How do you think we should do this? We can't exactly play the trust game with a dragon...." She giggled.
"Yes we are,but it really isn't a marriage. Until we have a wedding. It is more of ceremony. I don't know what happens. Sam might know something or maybe that old dragon if I ever find him. " She sighed. "That is a very good thought on how to gain someone's trust. In this case a dragon." He had no clue.
James smiled and lay a hand on her arm, "Hey, we'll figure it out, ok?" He looked over at Dusk who was eagerly prancing around, "So, you gonna teach me and Dusk?" He asked, raising a brow. Sam smiled, "How about we blindfold each of you in turn, and you have to listen to eachother's directions to get through the maze." She said. She closed her eyes and produced a large obstical course, of huge poles here and there. She also produced a blindfold. "Who wants to go first?"
"Yeah. I hope you know I have the name of the best dragon trainer." She said smiling. "Each dragon has their own element. Most of the time it goes with the witches elements. Each color of the dragon represents something about it that makes it unique." She said looking at Dusk. "You sure that's a good idea?" Not sounding to sure of this idea. Spot would probably leave him.
"Wow..." James said reverently, "Teach me your ways, trainer." He smiled, listening as she told him about the dragon's abilities. "So I'm evil?" He asked, worried. He stared at Dusk's glistening black scales."Yup." Then she frowned, "Wait, I forgot something." You have to let Spot into your mind so he may communicate with you. "Spot." She said to the dragon, "Try to talk to Danny."
"No, black doesn't mean evil all the time. Sometimes it means mysterious or a challenge." She didn't want to do this."To find a dragons element you need to see which element it's eyes glow. Sometimes it glows two colors which means two elements." She walked up to Dusked."Watch his eyes carefully as it give home some of the elements." She closed her eyes and she went through the elements."He can talk to me?" Yes I can you inconsiderate brat"Hey. I'm not doing this he just called me a inconsiderate brat."
James watched carefully. Finally Dusk's eyes glowed blue, a deep glowing blue, like the ocean, or the sky around a full moon. "They're glowing!" James exclaimed.Sam sighed exasperatedly, "Grow up you two! You were meant for each other for a reason. Danny, you need to treat Spot with some respect. He isn't a pet, he's more like your other half. Same goes for you Spot." Sam looked over to Arae, "Little help here?" She asked the dragon. Arae sat on her haunches Don't ask me, I'm still learning as well. I am only a couple hours old, remember? "Fine. Spot, you're going first." She walked over and blindfolded the dragon. "Danny, lead him through, carefully!" She emphasized.
She stopped. She smiled weakly."What color are they?" She walked back to James. She was still little weak from the last time using her powers."What?! You asked for a volunteer. I didn't volunteer."Yeah because your to lazy."Hey I'm not lazy." Boy how can anyone get along with a dragon or a person like that he thought.
"Blue." He said. "I think..."Sam smiled, "Just tell him where to go." She said. Spot was standing in front of the obstical course. "Get him through." She instructed.
"Ok blue. That is his element." Then she looked up with a big smile."I guess your element will be water. Good thing I know how to control water as well." What should she do next?"Since we can't really work on the element until you get your powers. Let's start with flying." "Fine. Princess." He turned around and walk to Spot."Ready?" You like Sam don't you?"No I don't." He said loudly. He put the blind fold on. Spot guided him through the maze with ease. As soon as he reached in the end. He was glad it was over.
Excitement ran through James' body like an electrical current... finally he would be able to try flying! "Yes!" He said. "Lets!" Dusk shifted and rumbled excitedly, pawing the ground, Hurry up and get on, lets go! James stumbled back... "Calla... I think Dusk just talked to me..." he said."No you don't what?" Sam asked, raising a brow. When Danny finished walking through the maze, she said. "Good job Spot." She said. " Now Danny, blindfold Spot, and lead him through."
"Yeah dragons talk to their people. Every generation there is a dragon master who talks to all dragons. They have a way with them." She smiled. "James are sure you want to give up everything for a girl you just meant." "No no, wait I just walked through the maze . I'm not doing again."I see you don't want to leave your lover alone."Is there any way to make him stop talking to me?
"Yeah." He said. "I'm sure. Now, how do you get on?" He asked."You misunderstand me." Sam said. "This time, Spot will walk through the maze, you just stand here and tell him where to go, got it?"
"Well it is quite simple. Come here Dusk." She said in a soothing voice."So you get on like you do a horse." She got on it."Now since you never flown a dragon I will teach him and then once he gets used to you can try. Unless you want to come along with me." "No. I'm not doing it again." He wasn't going to do it again Danny and Sam kissing in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G."Shutup." He walked away.
James grinned, "Help me up?" He asked. Hey Dusk? He asked his dragon in his mind, You can carry both of us, right? Dusk snorted, Of course. Enjoy the ride.Sam sighed, "Were you not listening to me at all?" She put up an electric field around them and the obstical course so Danny could not leave. "Just tell Spot what to do, and He, not you, Spot will walk through the course." What will it take to get this into his thick scull? She wondered.
"Well of course my prince."She said with the biggest grin. She grabbed his hand and put him behind her."Hold on. To begin we have to get him flapping his wings and doing dangerous tricks." This was going to be fun."Yeah I heard that I'm not doing it." First comes love then comes marriage"I said shutup." He was getting very mad at this dragon.
James grabbed Calla's waist and shook his head, "This is Dusk's first flight, don't you think we should be careful?""If you don't quit talking to yourself..." She said. "Arae? Help me out here?" My pleasure Arae growled at Spot, talking in the dragon's language. Then she roared, I told him to smarten up "Thanks." Sam said. "Now I've got to do the same with Danny..." She turned to him, "Do you want to fly or not? We need to do this, so we will be prepaired in battle. You keep acting like this, and you'll end up dead in the first fight." She sighed, "But, if you aren't open to learning, Arae and I will go and fly on our own. It's up to you." Let's just leave them. Arae said to Sam.
"We will be careful. You have to have complete trust in your dragon." Then she let smile,"Your not afraid I will let you fall?" "I don't need you talking to me rudely and him as well. You want to know why I don't want to put up this dragon?" This was going to show him.
James smiled, "I trust you." He said. "So, how do we take off?"Sam pouted, this boy was so stubborn! "Why?" She asked.
"Just like a horse, but instead of using your heal you ask." She took a breath."Dusk may you fly for us." They took up into the air. "Ready for the fun to begin?"He thinks I'm madly in love with you." He looked up from the ground."We both know that is not true. Right?"
James looked around at the ground dissapearing below them. It was crazy how high they were. And with no saddle, it would be very easy to slip over Dusk's scales and fall to the ground. Yes! Dusk said. "Um... maybe?" Something twisted in her gut, "Um..." Arae's laughter filled her mind Admit it! You like him! "Maybe." She answered, looking over at him.
"Ok.Hold on to me. We will start off with the basics if that is alright." She could sense that he was a little uneasy."Oh never look down." She smiled."Maybe." He repeated her words slowly. Come on say it you like her. "I don't like her there." These words were trying to convince himself more than anybody else. He face was a beat red and he was flustered at this dragon.
"Yup." James kept his eyes focused ahead, "I learned that the hard way." He patted Dusk, "I'm up for that."His words bit into her heart. He said he didn't like her! She hadn't realized that she liked him either, until now. But he just tore her heart out with his words. "Um, I think a ride would be good about now." She said softly, embarrassed and sad at the same time. You got it. Arae said. She snaked her head between Sam's legs again. Sam gripped the neck spine in front of her as Arae took off into the air with a huge gust of wind. Sam wiped a tear from her eye with one hand before looking ahead again.
"Ok Dusk we will start with basic flying straight and up and down. Ready lets go up. This is the part you will want to hold on and you might feel like falling." She smiled. She loved the feeling that they were falling, but they weren't. You convince her, but not me."If I say I might by one teeny little chance that I like her will you stop." His face was beat red. He made sure Sam wasn't near them to hear them.I couldn't hear you"I said that like her for goodness sake." He said these words at the top of his lungs.
Dusk shot straight into the sky, and James held tighter to Calla, He felt like he was going to fall, but he didn't, miraculously. "This is great! " He shouted into the sky, laughing aloud. Sam stiffened. Had she heard right? No, it must have just been the wind. Why would he say two completely different things? Arae flew them to the top of a cliff peak, where she sat down on her haunches, allowing Sam to slide off. She curled up and cried. Danny didn't like her. He said so. He must have just been lying when he shouted that. She rocked on her heals and cried.
"Yeah I know." She smiled. This was the most fun she had in ages. "Now let's go down at your fastest speed." She was ready for this moment."This will feel different.""You probably made her cry." No you made her cry. "Whatever I'm over with this." He just started walking. He didn't know where. Some how ended up back at the kitchen. Did he like Sam? She was pretty fun to be around with.
James gasped. Dusk was shooting towards the ground faster than the speed you would normally fall at. He felt himself rising off Dusk's back, and he gabbed Calla again to help himself stay on. "Wow!" He exclaimed, "This is SO awesome!"Sam stopped crying and looked down at the world. She didn't know what was worse. That Danny said he didn't like her, or that he hadn't come to make her feel better. Arae flapped her wings, stretching them. "Let's run away together." Sam said. "We aren't needed here. James and Calla have each other. And Danny obviously doesn't want me here." Arae rumbled I agree. Spot is very good at getting under one's nerves. Wiping away another tear, Sam climbed back onto Arae's back and flew into the air, towards the sun that was setting, and away from her friends.
"That's enough for one day. Let's go back." Dusk dropped them off at the castle."I wonder how Sam and Danny's training session went."She said with a big smile. Knowing the answer. Then she saw Danny ran out. "Where is Sam?" "I don't know."
"You don't know?" Calla was yelling at him."My aunt mostly likely knows what she is what did you do wrong."
"Nothing."
"I don't want to know. James we need to find before my aunt does." She was stricken with sadness. She lost her only friend.
(If Sam meets her aunt, could you be that character? Since you introduced her?)James was shocked, where could Sam be? Why would she have gone? "Yes we should find her." He said. "If this has something to do with you..." James said to Danny, "I will not be happy." He knew how much Sam's friendship meant to Calla.
Sam stared at the sun in the distance. Arae's neck bobbed up and down slowly as she pumped her powerful wings beneath her. They were moving fast, and and the distance between them and their friends grew by the second. Sam spotted a dark cloud on the horizon, and it was growing nearer, but she didn't care. She just cared about running away. Running away from everything.
((Yeah))Tears were coming down her face. "James I'm afraid."She didn't know if her aunt will find Sam or not.
"I didn't do anything wrong."
She needed to find her niece. She saw a dragon coming towards her. They found the dragons." You must Sam?" This was perfect timing.
"Are you guys trying to prove a point or something?" He was flustered at them."At least your here now let's go get something to eat." He let up on his anger.
