Once Upon A Time and Lara

"What's wrong."
"Oh nothing I'm worried about Toto."
"Whose Toto?
"My sisters dog."
"Sam?"
She nodded.

"Sam ok?"
"Yeah."
"When is she coming home."
"I don't know."

"I asked when Sam's coming home?"
"James he knows." She said happily.
"Yeah why wouldn't I?"
She saw her aunt. "Danny go check on Sam. If they don't let you in you know what to do."
"Hello my darling."
"Go."
"Not until this." She walked over to her. She stood up.
"Go."
Then she stabbed her. "James is that no magic rule still affecting this." She said as she fell into a pool of her own blood.

James helped Calla off the floor. "You ok?" He asked. "And does this mean Danny remembers everything?" He asked.

"James what are we going to do." The doctors came to her and put her on a bed and rolled her out. "James aren't you going to see what's wrong with her?"

She heard noises. She didn't know what was happening.

James ran beside Calla's stretcher, looking down at her every couple of seconds. "You'll be ok." He promised her, "We'll get you through this."

So much nosies. She felt something go over her face. It made her so tired. She soon fell into a deep sleep.

Sam woke up slowly, her head groggy from the morphene. she blinked slowly, trying to get her vision to clear. There were four people staring at her... no wait, they just became two people, no... her vision cleared and she saw Danny sitting beside her bed. She remembered everything suddenly, and she swallowed, not sure what to say or do. She wasn't sure if he still forgot, or if he remembered, or what was going on.
James was pushed back by a doctor as Calla was wheeled into a separate room. "I'm sorry." A doctor told him. "You're going to have to wait outside."
"But..." James started, but the doctor had already shut the door on him.

"Princess baby listen please. Don't freak out. Stay clam." He looked at her. "In the waiting room we ran into Callas aunt. Calla got up and she stabbed her. James healed her, but she put a charm on it so has to heal naturally. The doctor is checking on her now."
She didn't know what was happening. She knew she was tired. So tired. Whatever was in the masked made her sleep. Maybe... She didn't know any medical terms.

The doctor came back over to Danny, "They are trying to correct the internal damage now." He said solemnly. "Luckily it did not pierce all the way through, so if they can get the organs to connect again, she should be ok." He said, leaving them again.
Sam stiffened. "W-what?" Her heart started to pound. Danny still didn't seem to remember, she had gotten hit by a truck... and now this? She turned away from him and buried her face in the pillow so he couldn't see her cry.
James paced outside the room, running a hand through his hair and chewing his lip. He didn't know what to think or do. He just hoped that Calla would be alright.

Danny gulped. "Does her husband know anything? If you see him please tell him." He paused. "Thank you." He looked over at Sam. "Baby Shh. I know. Calla will be fine." He said trying to clam her down. "Please baby they will make me leave if you can't clam down." He whispered kissing her forehead.
Calla heard people talking. She didn't see anything. She heard someone say give her more. More what? She was soon knocked out again. She was afraid.

Sam nodded, trying desperately to calm down. But it was so hard to see him here, and to know Calla was hurt, and... She had to know. "Do you remember everything now Danny?" She asked, her voice quiet.
The doctor walked over to James and told him what he had told Danny. James nodded, but his fists were clenched. When the doctor left, James leaned against a wall and pounded it softly, gritting his teeth.

"No baby. I'm trying baby." He whispered. "I want to hold so badly and tell you that she will be ok,but I can't. I can't promise anything because we can't use the magic to save her."
She laid there sleeping soundly. She heard noises. She felt like she was moving. When the doctors opened the door light her face. She didn't squirm. She just laid there.
"I'm going to check on James." He kissed her on the forehead and left. "James." He saw Calla be rolled out. "Did the doctor say how the surgery went?"

Sam bit her lip to keep from crying. He still didn't remember her! This was her worst nightmare, but worse, because she couldn't wake up from this one.
James nodded, "They think she will be ok." He said. He was tense and nervous. "She just needs time to recover." He said. Then as if remembering their situation, James added, "How are you guys?"

Calla slowly opened her eyes. "James. I want James. Where is James." The beeping noise sped up. The nurse gave her some type of medicine. She couldn't tell what it was. "James." She muttered and she went back to sleep.
The nurse went to the doctor. "The patient was requesting someone. Is to soon right?"

The doctor thought for a moment, "It still is soon, but she could have one visitor, as long as it is a close relative." He said.
James was pacing the hallways, waiting impatiently for when he could go see Calla.

"You must be James. The patient was asking for you. You may go in though. She still be sleeping though."
Calla felt a pain. Something hurt what happened? She couldn't relax. She needed James. The buzzer started going off. Put the nurse quickly opened the door. "She's not responding to the morphine. Her body won't relax. Stay here while I go get the doctor." She left to go get the doctor. "She isn't responding to the morphine. Her body won't relax. Pure body needs to relax for her to recover."

James rushed and and sat beside Calla, clutching her hand in his. "I'm here honey, you need to relax." He said gently. "Please Calla, look at me, you need to calm down. Everything will be alright."

Calla couldn't relax. She heard a voice. She felt something in her hand. If they gave her morphine her powers could be acting up. She open her eyes. "James baby morphine powers acting up." That's all she couldn't manage to say. A sharp pain went through her. Her body was temp was higher then it was suppose to be. The monitor was going crazy. She needed to relax that's what her body needed.

James nodded. He pulled the tube out of the pouch, disconnecting the morphine drip. "Stay with me Calla. It will be alright. I'm here. Try to relax." He encouraged her.

The nurse came in change. She took Callas temp. She was burning up. Her body couldn't relax. She broke out in a cold sweat. The nurse went to get the doctor. "She's not doing well."
"Trying" She stammered.

James held both her hands in his. He leaned forward and kissed her forehead. "Focus on me honey, only on me. Focus on my voice. Don't think of anything else." He instructed. "Just think of me."

The doctor finally nodded. He came and followed the nurse. The poor girl looked awful. "I'm sorry were going to have to ask you to leave."
Calla heart started beating faster. James had to leave. She couldn't do it without him. They plugged in a higher dosage of morphine. "No please don't make him leave." She passed out. Before she could say anything.

James squeezed her hand encouragingly one last time before leaving out the door and making his way back to the waiting room. I'm still here for you Calla. He thought to her, even though he knew she was asleep.

Calla felt so tired. Her body finally relaxing. The got her fever under control. She laid there sleeping soundly. The nurse went out to get James. "She is stable right now. If you want to see her then go ahead. She is asleep though." She smiled and left.

James nodded, getting up. He went to Calla's room and sat down beside her, holding her hand as she slept. She at least looked peaceful lying there.

Calla let a smile come on her face. She felt so clam. She fluttered her eyes. "James?" She asked softly. She was a little groggy from the morphine. She tried sitting up. She let a yelp out. It hurt. "Is suppose to hurt this bad?"

James smiled at her, "You did get stabbed less than 24 hours ago." He reminded her. "And you have stitches in your stomach. I think it is supposed to hurt." He smiled at her.

She nodded. "Why do I feel so groggy?" She asked softly. The nurse left. She heard beeping noise it wasn't hers. "James can you please check on Sam."

"Morphine does that." James told her, grinning. He nodded and walked to Sam's room. "What is wrong?" He asked.
A nurse came in a hooked up the morphine drip again. "I'm going to have to ask you two to leave."
"No. Please no." Sam protested.
"Shhh, it'll be ok in a minute honey." The nurse said. when the morphine didn't appear to work, she grabbed and needle with some clear fluid in it.
Magic Danny. You have to help me. Sam said. It's magic!
The nurse stabbed her with the needle, and she immediately passed out. The monitor was still beeping frantically, indicating that her heart had not slowed down.
James allowed himself to be shooed out of the room by a nurse. He went back to Calla. "Her heart sped up by the looks of it." He told her.

She nodded her head. "It stopped working." She whispered. Her body couldn't relax now. "They mixed something to make my body relaxed." She stammered. Her body broke out in a cool sweat. The monitor made beeping noises.
The nurse came in. "Can you leave?"
"No. No. Don't make him go. Please make him stay. Get the needle away from me. " Her heart started racing. Her eyes started to glow. She screamed. The put the medicine. She fought. "Don't make him go." She muttered. Then went to sleep.

James brushed past the nurse, "I need to stay with her." he explained, "To keep her calm..."
The nurse was hesitant, but her eyes were wide with fear, so she nodded.
James shut the door after her and walked back to Calla's bed, sitting down beside her.

Her body began to relax. She slipped off to on a deep sleep. She shifted a little. She woke up. "It hurts." She muttered.

"I know." James said. "Im here for you. You're going to be ok"

"James I'm suppose to feel funny?"

"To be honest... I dont know. I have never been a patient in a hospital before." He told her honestly. He was frustrated that he couldn't do more to help.

James frowned, wondering what she meant. But it was too late to ask her, because she had gone to sleep.

She felt so tired. She hear buzzing noise. She snapped opened her eyes she was out of whatever they gave her. "James do they always give medicine and keeper you drugged up in the hospital?" She winced at the pain.

James smiled "Only if you are in pain." He explained. "And you can refuse it if you want to." He assured her. "Personally I would take the drugs though." He grinned wryly.

She winced at the pain. She laid her in pain until the nurse came in filling in the medicine pouch. She tried to stay awake. "I love you." She wanted to reply to his response she was to sleepy. She woke up soon. The monitor was going off. "James it hurts." Her heart stared beating fast. The doctor came in. He took a look at Calla.
"It appears she ruptured the stitches did she moved around a lot? Anyways it's causing internal bleeding." They came in a gave something that made her tired. "James." She was out before he could say something.

James watched Calla, worried. "What does that mean?" He asked the doctor. "Will she need another surgery?" He asked, stressed.

"Yes. She should be out in an hour two tops." They wheeled Calla off. Her body was relaxed.
"What's wrong?" He asked
"Nothing." She faked a smile.
