Once Upon A Time and Lara

The receptionist looked up, "Yes, she is doing well." She smiled up at Calla. "Her condition stabilized at four this morning. You may all go see her now." She said kindly.
Sam woke up. They had stopped the morphene drip, but the needle was still in her arm just in case they needed to continue it. Regardless, she now felt sore and bruised all over. One of her legs was in a cast, and her other arm had a brace wrapped tightly around it. Her lungs still hurt really badly, and now the stitches over them were starting to feel sore as well. She sighed, trying to relax. At least the cuts on my face don't hurt as much anymore. Only my heart needs work to be healed as well... She bit her lip and closed her eyes.

"You guys go ahead. I can't... because...it..." He shook his head and just stared.
"Your going back weather you like it or not. Sam needs you."
Danny looked over at them. He looked awful. His eyes were puffy and red. His face had tear stain.
"Did you get any sleep last night?"
"Is that any of you business?" He snapped at her.

Calla lead the way to Sam. "Good morning sis." She had to keep up the act or they would of never let her in. "How are you feeling?" She paused. "Danny said he will come see you later. He well isn't in the best of condition. He's trying so hard not to break down."

"I've been better." She said honestly. She bit her lip at Calla's comment. She was determined not to cry in front of everyone else, but she hated hearing about Danny doing so poorly.

Calla looked behind her. "Oh hi Danny." She said.
"I said shut up." Calla rolled her eyes.
"I know. If anything happens we will get back here and teleport you back to the castle and heal you. He's just a little cranky had no sleep last night."

James smiled, trying to lighten the mood, "Well it looks like you're getting better anyways."
Sam nodded, managing a weak smile, "Yeah, slowly." She shifted and winced a bit.

"Danny wait.." He was gone before she could say anything. "Um I know he sorry. He felt like it was his fault. He wishes he could tell you. I would tell you,but I think it's best for you to hear from him. That's what he was going to tell you,but you were gone and he almost broke down. I think he might do break down anytime."

James came over and laid a hand on her shoulder, "You need to relax. We'll go talk to Danny, ok? He'll be ok."
"Listen to me! You can't let him kill himself! You have to stop him!" The monitor beeped a warning signal and a nurse rushed in, turning on the morphene drip again. Sam fought the drug as it started to calm her down. "You have to stop him!" she shouted.
James nodded to Calla, indicating that they should leave now. "We'll go talk to him." He said, hurrying from the room as Sam screamed after them until the morphene knocked her out.

"Really?" He asked not caring.
"Fine have it your way." She started singing the sirens song. She projected on to Danny. "you will go to sleep."
Danny nodded his head. He instantly went to sleep.
"James I feel bad for doing that."

Sam woke up slowly. She felt groggy, and her whole body still hurt. Not to mention she could feel the tears that had dried on her cheeks. She bit her lip to keep from crying again. Danny didn't want to see her, and he was at risk of being suicidal, she was in pain, in a human hospital by herself... her situation could not get any worse.

Danny eyes darted. He let out a yawn. "What happened?" He looked around."Why are we at a hospital? Where's Sam?"
"James I think his body used his magic to put a barrier up." She shook her head. "Well we have a friend in here and she would like to talk to."
"Will Sam be there."
"Yeah Sam's at the room we are going to." She wasn't lying. "Come on let's go see that friend."

Sam looked up as James peaked in the door. She looked down again, feeling sorry for herself. She was thankful to Calla and James for making an effort, but she really only wanted to see Danny. She wanted to talk with him and make everything better.

Danny froze. "You said Sam would be here you never said she was the one in there." He shook his head. He rushed to her side "Princess how your doing baby?"
Calla needed to tell Sam something. His body put up a barrier so he wouldn't hurt as much. He doesn't remember anything that went between you and him. "We are going to leave you guys alone." She looked at Sam waiting for a response.

James nodded, walking away with Calla, "Do you think he'll let the barrier down again?" He asked, worried that Danny would just avoid what had happened forever, he knew that would be bad for both him and Sam.

"Baby what happened?" He asked holding her hand. He looked very worried at her. "I'm not leaving your side unless they forced me too." He smiled. He was debating on what he should do. "I tried talking to you last night and you weren't there. It was pretty important. Kinda of think of it I don't remember much of last night. Besides that it's about what my sister said yesterday."

Ok. Sam replied to Calla. She turned her attention to Danny. "I got hit by a truck." Sam said honestly. She was going to pretend that she was ok and play along with him, letting him put the barrier down by himself, but she couldn't take lying to him. Tears started to fill her eyes, "Danny you put up a barrier to forget what happened. Take it down again. You'll remember what happened." Her voice ended in a sob.

He shook his head. "Did they get the person who hit you?" He looked confused."What are you talking about? I have no clue what barrier your talking about Princess." He wiped the tears down her face. "Like I said before you I had to tell you something important, but you weren't there. It was about what my sister said. When she died she they told did all these crazy tests and drugged me. They programmed me to hate witches. That's why I hated you and acted like such a jerk."

Sam listened to his story. She felt really badly for him. She felt hate stirring inside her towards whoever had done that to Danny. She looked up into his eyes for the first time, "So you do remember what happened now? Do you remember everything?" She asked, worried.

"Remember everything no more like bits and pieces of what happen." He sighed. "So what about that barrier?" He asked her worried. "I don't even no what it is or how to do it. So besides that how are feeling now."

Sam looked down, he still didn't remember everything. "You're still guarding yourself Danny, let go. Let yourself remember. Let yourself feel what your heart is trying to feel." She encouraged. She wanted him to remember. "I feel broken Danny. Physically and emotionally. But you can't help me if you don't remember." She said, trying very hard not to cry again. For the moment she was holding it together alright.

"Princess remember what?" He asked very confusing. "I really honesty have no idea what your talking about." He paused. "So baby when are you going to be out of here?" He looked at her with a smile.

"You said you only remembered pieces of what happened." Sam said, slowly breaking. She only wanted to work things out with Danny. If he didn't remember, then she couldn't. She shook her head looking down, "Don't you want to remember?" She asked, tears filling her eyes again. She couldn't bear Danny acting like this. Like nothing ever happened. Like he didn't care.

"Baby why are you crying?" He wiped the tears down her face. "Remember what? The torment they put me through. I don't think I would want to remember that. Some days though I think they were trying to make me forget you know?" He looked at her. "Is everything ok?" He asked concerned.

Sam shook her head. She couldn't deal with this. "No, it's not." She said honestly. "Do you remember everything that happened the last two days? Everything?" She asked softly, afraid he would say no. He acted like he didn't remember, and it was hurting her. She wanted to fix everything, but she couldn't when he was like this.

"I remember my sister , the hunters, calla new power, you leaving." He paused. "For some reason I don't remember why you would leave and how I ended up here." He smiled. "It doesn't matter now because were here together forever."

Sam felt her throat start to get tighter as a sob tried to get out but couldn't. He didn't remember what had happened, and he didn't want to try and remember either. She felt like he was abandoning her to deal with the hurt she had been through. Like he didn't care what had happened, and didn't want to work through it with her. She couldn't stop the tears any more. She shook her head, letting the tears fall onto her collar bone. "You don't remember." She whispered, looking up at him through her tears. She would have left the room then if she could, but she was stuck in this bed. "Please go." She whispered, her voice breaking.

"What did I do?" He looked at her. "What did I do?" He don't remember do anything wrong.

She was crying hard now. She wanted to sink into a hole in the floor and hide herself from everyone. She shook her head. His words just reminded her that he didn't remember, and didn't want to remember. "Just go." She repeated, her own words breaking her heart. She wanted nothing more than to be with Danny, but not like this. He was as good as ignoring her like this.

"Oh ok. If you didn't want marry me. Um.. You could of said something before I fell in love with you. I love you." He got up. Tears came down his face. He walked into the waiting room. He sat as far as apart as he could get from the two love birds. His heart broke. She didn't want him.
"Danny what's wrong?"
"Nothing I told what I needed to tell her and now she told me to go. I don't know if that means like leave her and don't come back. Or if that means just to leave her alone for now." He paused. "I think she meant the first one."

Sam watched him go, tears pouring from her eyes. Her heart throbbed, hurting more than it ever had before. She turned her face into her pillow to try and hide her tears. Her thumb strayed to the diamond ring on her finger and she twisted it around once. She pulled it off and looked at it. In the clear surface of the diamond she could see a reflection of her tears.
James shook his head, "No Danny, trust me, she would have told you specifically if she wanted to divorce. If she just asked you to go away, she probably needs some time to cool down. No offence Calla, but sometimes girls need a little time alone." He said, trying to encourage Danny. "I'm sorry that it went so poorly." He said honestly.
To Calla, he whispered, "You should probably go talk to Sam and find out what is wrong."

"None taken." She nodded her head. "I will be right back." She went to see Sam. "I just want to make sure Danny isn't going crazy. Do you want Danny like to leave alone for now or leave you like divorced." Calla stared at her.
"She meant the first one." Danny just stared. He was slowly breaking.

Sam looked up, trying to stop crying. "Neither." She whispered. "I don't want him to leave. But I want him to remember. I feel like he is pushing me out and abandoning me to deal with what happened by forgetting. I wan't to work it through with him, I want him to help make it better. By forgetting, he's acting like he doesn't care how I feel. He's shutting me out to deal with it on my own." Sam said, dissolving into tears again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rant like that... I just... I can't deal with it."
James moved closer to Danny, "Don't assume that yet." James said gently. "Calla will go find out what she meant. If she want's you to leave for good, then you go from there, but right now, you don't know what she meant."

"I know Sam. I know you want him to remember. He thinks you don't want to be with him anymore." She paused."He is going crazy."
"Maybe I should leave."

James looked down, "I can't stop you." He started, "But what if Sam does in fact want you to stay? Then you would be leaving her for nothing and giving up your relationship. She may not take you back after that." James warned.

"What were we talking about?" He yawned. The barrier grew to protect his him.
She felt the level of magic go up. James is he acting weird? If he is the barrier probably grew even more. She felt the doctors watching. "Sis I will do the best I can to keep your dog in. We will put up a bigger barrier."Sam Danny's barrier grew. Can't say anything while doctors are here

James' eyebrows lifted. How long is this going to go on? This can't be healthy... "We were talking about the crappy TV show that's on right now." James lied, figuring it would be better not to bring up Sam for now.

"Oh yeah this is crappy." He said looking up.

A doctor walked in. "I'm sorry, but you're going to have to leave, the patient is getting too stressed." He told Calla. He turned on the morphene drip again and Sam's eyes widened. I'm gonna black out in a sec Calla, please make him remember, and don't let him kill himself. Plea-- She passed out.
James nodded, "See? So stupid." Where are you? We need to fix Danny asap.
Danny didn't get any sleep last night. He just stared. That's all he could do. He blinked. He thought about Sam and the good times they had. Which made him worse. He had way too many bottles of coffee to keep him awake.
