Sam stared down at Danny's pitiful form on the ground. He was frozen, so there wasn't much use in reasoning with him. She grimaced briefly, this was definitely not what she had dreamed her first kiss would be like. Bending down she clasped his face in her hands and pressed her lips against his.

Danny woke up halfway through the kiss, surprise and anger scrawled on his face. Before he could push away, he relaxed again, falling into Sam's arms. She lay him against the ground. Rubbing her hand on the wound in her neck, she smeared her blood on Danny's neck, hoping to make it look more convincing.

Danny yet again fell into a deep sleep. His day couldn't get any worse. Right?

Sam stared down at Danny, sorry that she had to do what she did to him, and yet, not really sorry. His lips had felt really good. Lying there peacefully he didn't look cold hearted anymore. He looked almost... handsome. She spun around and stood when the footsteps reached the clearing and four dark witches stepped out.

"Calla Lucas."
"Calla what surprise to see you join us." It was her aunt. "I don't believe your fully dark. That is why I'm going to show you what power really is. Marie do the same to the other one." Her Aunt walked forward and touched her head. Power. That is all she could think about. She started to fight the darkness lurking in side of her. After awhile her Aunt walked away. She hoped Sam was doing ok. "How do you guys feel?"
She didn't know what to say. "I need power." She didn't mean to say these words.
"Yes you do my sweetheart. And what are you going to do to get it."
"Anything."
"That's good. Leave them to destroy each other." She was gone.

Danny begin to open his eyes. What happen? He remember being kissed by the witch he tried to kill. He looked to see James laying there. What happen to that witch she was trying to kill the other witch?

James moaned and sat up, rubbing his head. He remembered suddenly what had happened. Wow... He thought, Witches are good kissers. He noticed suddenly that the sky had darkened and a strong wind was growing. Something was wrong, but he couldn't tell what.

"ah James um I think the something is wrong with the witch name um Calla." That was her name. He couldn't think of it. Why is she trying to kill the other witch.

Jame's eyes grew wider. Calla was not who she was before. She had become like the witches he was trained to kill! Fear and anger rose in his chest. How could he make her snap out if it? He would have to bring the real Calla back, and there was only one way he could think of to do that. A kiss, right? It usually solved everything in the books. Even though it was awkward, he knew it must be done. He stepped over to her, and his heart pounding, pressed his lips against hers again.

James stood back, his jaw open. A huge black storm cloud was swirling above the witches. Then something dark moved between Calla and Sam. Had Calla put something in her? Was she killing her? The winds around the two girls were too strong, there was nothing left he could do but watch.

Danny saw the limp body of Sam. He hurried over to see if she was ok. She was barley alive. Calla was still sucking out her life source. Then she sounded herself again. Then her eyes went back to a black hole.

James was trembling. Sam was dead, or mostly, and Calla was out of control. There was a tornado around her, lifting her off of the ground slightly. Her eyes looked like black holes now, threatening to suck him in. He looked down, "Calla!" He shouted, "It's not just killing Sam, it's killing you! Its eating the real you, and replacing it! You have to be strong! Stop it! I know you can! This is something you must do. None of us can stop the darkness inside of you. Only you can do that." He shouted over the wind, "You must stop it before it is too late!" He sighed, "I thought you said you were different from the black witches! And yet you let yourself become one of them so easily?" He hoped to anger her enough into fighting back. She needed to win this battle herself.

Danny brushed the hair out of Sam's face."your going to be ok." He promised to her.

Sam could feel herself shifting in and out of consciousness. The world was swimming around her. she willed herself to stay alive. She had to help Calla. She had to... She blacked out again.

James shook his head, he needed to think... how could he help? She was winning for a while, but then evil took the upper hand again.

She landed on the ground. This person was boring her.She walked she let the storm go away she didn't need to eliminated. Her sword came to her hands."Are you ready to die?"
Danny saw that she landed and was going to try to fight James. Danny picked up Sam and hold her. He hate seeing watching people die or witches.

James stood his ground. He was never one to back down. He looked her in the eye, "As always. But I don't plan on doing it today." A fire kindled in his heart. Regardless of who she was, he was not about to let a witch kill him. The kiss almost worked last time... He had to try once more.
He sighed and stepped over to her, grabbing her face in his hands he kissed her, and gave it everything he had. He could feel her relaxing slightly. Come-on... He thought.

She was ready to kill him. She told herself to stop. She couldn't. The darkness consumed her. She still felt her heart there. She charged towards James. She pinned him against a tree. "Any last words or anything you wanted to do or say?"
Danny couldn't bare to watch the fight. This was his whole life. Fighting and dying. It hurt him to do it. This was a witch was. Not Sam or the old Calla.

Sam woke up just look enough to realize that she was in Danny's arms.

Danny saw that Sam was awake. "How are you sleepy head?" She was different from all the witches he killed. He could not kill her because she was good.

Sam moaned softly. Her heart hurt. Calla still had it, her powers. Without them, she was not whole. "I feel like half of me is missing." She whispered. She was tired. She felt weak. She had been to death's door, and yet, she was still alive!

"It will be ok Sam." He had was only trying to reassure them both.

Sam gasped as she felt her powers return to her. She gulped the air like she had just broke the surface of an ocean she had been drowning in. She looked up at Danny, "You didn't kill me..." She said incredulously.

"Sam are you ok. Now." He knew he had orders to kill her. But not yet. She has been through a lot.

Sam nodded, trying to sit up, "Yes. I think I am." She was still a little shaken up, and not sure whether she could trust this boy.

He put his arms around her. His reassuring voice kept calling her. The darkness faded. "James do I have blue eyes and blonde hair?" She was shaking now. Tears were coming down her face. She almost became what killed her parents.
"Good." He hope that didn't sound to hopeful. He saw Calla was ok. Now when can they kill them. He will ask James as soon as he was sucking up with Calla.

Sam tilted her head a little. Danny was lost in thought, but he didn't look happy. This guy may still kill us! She realized. I have to warn Calla "Um, Calla? I think it is best that we get going now..." She said, trying to convey her message without being too obvious.

Danny was glad when Calla was gone. He couldn't bring himself to take his blade and kill Sam. Then he heard a scream. It was the loudest he ever heard. " What is that? "

Danny helped pin Calla to the ground, while James snapped off the end of the arrow. Gripping it with both hands, he began to slide it out of her shoulder. As he did so, Sam closed her eyes and cast the spell her mother taught her, one that would get rid of the poison.

Danny held her to the ground. She wasn't struggling much. He felt her body getting cold and limp. This wasn't good.

Sam shook her head, trying to indicate that she was concentrating, "Her body is responding to the spell."
"So you're killing her?" He asked.
"No. But extracting the poison can be a painful process." Sam knew she shouldn't give her secret away, but her friend needed it. Concentrating hard she tapped into her hidden energies that she had trained to conceal for so many years.
Her blue eyes began to glow brighter until they shone white, and her hair glowed as well, floating around her shoulders. A black river flowed out of Calla and disappeared like smoke. Sam sighed and returned to normal. She new she could be murdered by her own kind for showing witches and hunters her secret, but it didn't matter now. The poison was gone out of Calla, she would get better now.

Danny felt bad for her. Calla could never have James. He felt bad for himself because he could never have Sam. "James um this arrow is from the rival hunters." He was angry. They should know better than hunting someone else's hunt.

"James we should go before." He didn't finish because he knew James would want to stay there. He felt really bad for him.

Sam took the hint and trialed quietly behind the dark hunter. She didn't know if she could trust them, but she didn't have another option.

"Sam I know you don't trust us, but if we have to get out before the hunters come back." He hated having to travel with witches. He wonder what James saw in Calla. She was a witch. He knew was she good, but they were trained to kill them.

Sam nodded, "I know. I just can't help worrying about hunters. They kill us witches whether we are good or not." She looked down, remembering her mother. She was a healer, she was a good witch. She worked so hard to help Sam keep her secret, and now she was dead. Deciding there was no other option, she followed James and Danny quietly.

He could since that she was following him."Sam if you don't want to come with us then it is fine." One less witch to worry about. He didn't want anyone taking a his hunt, but he she was good. So why should he be worried about her turning on them.

Sam heard Danny's offer, but she wasn't eager to take it. She watched James jogging along with Calla and followed him. She felt like she needed to stick with Calla. She was the only one who she had ever been able to relate to besides her family. And besides, she didn't want to admit it, but she felt scared of the idea of going off on her own.

They reached the cottage and filed in. Danny shut the door and James lay Calla down on the bed. They were all feeling very tired from their ordeal. Despite her resolve to stay up and watch just in case the hunters got any ideas, Sam drifted off beside Calla, leaving James and Danny alone to talk.
