Once Upon A Time and Lara

"You sure because i would be more than happy to carry you." He gave her smile.

"Well... in that case." She grinned, "I think I may need some help." She flashed him an innocent smile.

"Ok." He picked her up. He walked down the stairs to see Calla being spun around. "Why are you guys so happy?"

"You're what!" Sam exclaimed.
"Engaged!" He repeated, beaming. "It had to happen some time, why not now?"
Sam grinned, "I am so happy for the both of you." She was, but she was also secretly jealous.

"Good Job." He smiled. They could stop bragging he thought. "Well we heard someone scream."

Sam nodded, "We were worried about you guys." She looked longingly at the ring on Calla's finger.

"I'm glad everything is going ok." He looked down at Sam."Princess what do you want to do."

Marry you! She said in her head, but she didn't say it out loud. "I don't know." she said softly.

"Me either. I'm bored again." He sighed.

Sam felt a little dissapointed, "Yeah." She said quietly. "I think I need to get some air." She wanted to be alone for a couple of minutes, "I'll be right back." She walked to Arae and got on her back, flying outside. She thought about how much she wanted Danny to propose, and how much the fact that he didn't worried her.

He knew Sam was hurting. They have forever. He should figure out something quick.

When they reached a high peak, Sam jumped off Arae and flew towards a small cave she found. She just fit into it and crawled to the back. There was water dripping somewhere in the cave. Sam shivered. She heard something. Was that, singing?!?

He closed his eyes and pictured Sam. He was there. "Sam what's that?" He whispered.

Sam was surprised to see Danny, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to be around him yet, but she responded, "I don't know." She turned to look into a small hole where it was coming from. There seemed to be a stone sitting on top of a glass table. The voices were coming from it. Sam could not look away from the stone. It was so captivating and beautiful. She began to sing with the voices, not knowing what she was doing.

"I think those might be sirens. So listen Princess please don't sing."

Sam kept singing, until her voice seemed to float right out of her mouth and towards the stone. Sam gasped and clutched her throat. Her voice was now coming from the stone. When she tried to tell James that she had found Ariel's stone, she couldn't. Her voice was gone.

"I don't know James. Have any ideas?" She looked up at him.

"Well, I have always like a turquoise theme, but we could also go with greens, or reds, or pinks..." He grinned, "There are so many options!"

"That's a pretty color turquoise. We need something to accent it? I would say pink. What do you think?" She smiled.

"Perfect." He said. "So, when is it going to be? What day are we planning this on? And where are we going for the honey moon?"

"Simple here is a tablet and pencil. Also it has to be something that she wants most from. Ariel was to fall in love and get kissed. Sam's would have to be different. Sam can you tell through your mind what you want him to do. I can help you?

Sam nodded.
"Weird." James said.
Sam looked at Calla and fidgeted. Well... She said to her through her mind, It's kind of awkward actually. Could you promise not to tell anyone? I need your help, but I don't want Danny and James to know She told Calla honestly.

"Princess we are going to work this out." He looked up at her,

"Whats wrong with her?" James asked.
Sam looked at the ground, trying to hide her face.

"What do I have to do?" He was thinking on what he had to do. He needed to get a ring. Whenever she gets her voice back he will ask.

James shook his head, "They're talking to each other in their minds. I have no idea what you need to do." He patted him on the back, "But good luck with figuring out whatever it is..." He said, giving Danny a sympathetic smile.

"I don't see why she won't tell me. I did die for her." He pointed that out.

James nodded, "I have no idea. But she probably has a good reason. Or else she would tell you." He said, trying to encourage him.

"I been thinking she kinda of seem jealous earlier when you told us about your guys wedding. I mean I want to propose to her,but I haven't found the right time."

James elbowed him in the ribs and grinned, "Do you think that's what she wants most? You know, it could be something else, anything else. Just proposing sounds too easy..." He said.

"I don't know. Maybe. I don't have a ring." He shook his head what is he suppose to do?

"I'm sure you can get one. I mean you can teleport all over the place now, just go visit a ring store and get her one." James suggested, "But hey, man. Make sure it's real. Proposing just because a girl needs to get her voice back is no reason to propose." He said seriously.

"I know. I want it to be the right time." He got up and went to the pool. He sat there thinking. Why did it have to be so hard? He wanted to propose to her. It wasn't the right time yet. He couldn't just let her voice or soul go away either. He had a three days. He had to find a perfect time in three days.

Sam woke up late that morning. She jumped out of bed and got dressed, heading for the kitchen. James was already there, making waffles.
She got out plates and utensils, setting them down on the table. "Thanks." James told her.
Sam nodded.
James looked back at the waffles awkwardly, well aware that she could not hold up a conversation.

Danny came along soon after. He didn't get much sleep last night. He was trying to figure out what to do. He had to find a right moment. He had to before it was too late.

Sam noticed that Danny didn't look too good. She was worried about him. She didn't want him to get sick because of her. She squeezed his hand encouragingly. Oh how she wished she had never found that stone, never wanted him to do this so badly. Then everything would be ok.

He notice Sam squeezing his hand. He looked up at her briefly and gave a weak smile. Correction on the little bit of sleep. He got no sleep. He is worried about what to do. It has to be at the right time. How about if he is too late. These thoughts enter his head. His face was pale. He had bags under his eyes.

Sam got out a piece of paper and a pen and wrote Go get some sleep. You aren't going to accomplish anything when you are this tired. Don't worry. Everything will be ok. She slid the sheet of paper over to him.

He smiled faintly. He shook his head no."I'm fine." He looked back down of at the table. He started eating his breakfast slowly.

James felt sad as watched Sam leave. This was not going well at all. He felt really bad for them. "I'm so glad I have you Calla." He said, whispering. And he was telling the truth. He didn't know what he would do if he had been in Danny's place.

Danny felt his heart had been pounded with nail. There was nothing he can do. He could propose to her. It wasn't the right time. Even if he did that could be wrong. His hours and minuets are going by. He might not ever get to see Sam again or hear her laugh. He felt like if he done something better. Or could do something over. It was his fault.

Danny,
I do not want you to propose. So please stop stressing about it. I would rather spend my last three days with you, then to have you worry over it, and then just propose because you have to. So please, please don't propose to me. I know the time is not right. I just want to spend my last days with you.
Love,
Sam
She walked back into the kitchen and slid the note to Danny before leaving the room again, and going outside to sped some time with Arae.
James smiled down at her. He finished his breakfast and then whispered to her, "Shall we go finish our wedding plans?" He felt almost guilty discussing that, but their wedding was coming up in a week, and they needed to plan it.

He went somewhere private to read the letter. He went to the training room. He opened and read it. His life was ruin. This is why he didn't fall in love. He always ended up getting hurt. He stared at each word. Each word tear him apart. He was broken. Tears were coming down his eyes. He would never be able to hear her laugh or her voice again.

Sam stroked Arae's nose. Listen. I'm not going to be here for long... Tears started to role down her face, So you have to take care of them for me when I am gone. Ok?
Arae nudged her sympathetically. I shall try.
Sam hugged Arae's neck. Thank you.

"Yeah. Hmmmmm let's say three weeks after my birthday or something like that?" She asked with a smile.

She ran over to him and shook him gently. Danny? She mind-spoke to him. You have to live! This is why I wrote that letter to you. Dying would only be bearable if I could spend my last days with you. You can't let go, not yet. There is still reason to live! She desperately hoped he would listen.
She would not be able to wait for her death without him. And what was waiting for her at the end of those three days would not be as merciful as death. No, her soul would be doomed to wander mindlessly between life and death forever, thinking about how Danny had died because of her. She wouldn't be able to bear that.
"Sounds good!" He said excitedly. "It's planned." He had to refrain from growing to excited. "It is finally official!" He grinned, "Ok, well not finally official, just the date is finally official." He smiled.

"Something's wrong. I can feel it. I don't know what. I see magic everywhere." She gave James a concerned look.

James gulped. Not good. "Ok, we should probably go check on Danny and Sam then." He said. He was worried that they had gotten themselves into some sort of other trouble.

She took James and blinked them to where they were. She froze. She ran up to Sam."What happened? Don't worry Danny is fine." Looking at Danny.
"I think I'm ok now." She told him honestly, even though she rather liked being carried around.
