Once Upon A Time and Lara

He heard the screams. "What was that?"

Sam shook her head, her eyes wide. "I honestly have no idea."

"Should we check it out?"

Sam nodded. "I think we should"

He nodded and teleported them to where the screaming was. "Is she ok?" He asked looking at Calla.

Sam swallowed slowly. "She looks kind of dark..."

"Yeah she does." Danny whispered.

Sam walked over and started giving her her own light energy. "Please get better."

"What's wrong with her?"

Sam put her hand down, biting her lip to keep back the tears. "I was just trying to help..."

"James don't yell at Sam."

Sam was trembling, trying not to cry.

"I don't care you will not yell at her."

Sam bit her lip and left the room, walking out into the hallway. She shook her head and tried to bite back the tears.

"What did you do? Or make her do?"

Sam started to cry.

"What's wrong with James." Sensing an energy shift.

Sam shook her head. "He yelled at me." She turned to Danny. "When a demon gives up their fiery energy for complete darkness... you get that." She motioned to James. "Fire can burn brightly sometimes, but a shadow will always be dark." She whispered.

"This is bad." He whispered.

Sam's eyes widened. "I didn't think it was that bad..."
James started to stir. His wings lost their feathers, and changed to black, leathery wings. They looked like large bat wings, or... dragon wings.

"Well I will." He tied him up with magic rope.
"No you can't tie him he didnt do anything wrong."

"He did it to save calla." Sam said softly.
Josh's eyes widened. "I take it back, he's not stupid. He's suicidal. Calla, he must seriously love you to do that." He shook his head.
James woke up and sat up slowly. His black eyes scanning the room. Instead of their normal black, they now looked like dark pits.

Danny was worried about this.

Sam watched him carefully, wondering how he would act.
James watched Calla emotionless when she talked to him. He shifted his leathery wings a bit and glanced at Sam and Danny. Immediately he growled, long and low.
Sam backed up. "I don't think he likes the fact that we are starlighters..."

"Yeah um maybe we should leave. Josh can stay here to make sure Calla doesn't do anything stupid."

Sam nodded and left with Danny. "Think we'll get him back?" She asked.
James's growling stopped when they left.

"I don't know." He whispered.

Sam nodded, "I'm worried about him."
Josh nodded. "Be careful around him. I can't say he wont bite." He said softly.

"Me too. I'm more worried on how Calla will react to things."

Sam nodded. "I know what you mean." She sighed.
Josh stayed and watched, just as a precaution.

"I wish we could help but he doesn't like us that much."

Josh's eyes widened. "That kid is stronger than I thought! No one I know could do that." He shook his head and breathed out reverently. "I think you could tame him. And the real James would come back once you did." he realized, smiling.
Sam nodded. "The darkness has always hated the light..." She sighed.

"Then why doesn't he growl at Calla?" He asked.

James was scanning the room with mild interest.
Sam shrugged. "Probably because her magic isn't pure like ours is. She has some dark witch in her as well. Along with siren..."

"True." He said.

James had tipped his head at her voice again, watching her intently.
Josh smiled a little. "You do know that he can't understand you yet, right? He's not near to being that tame. He's still practically a wild animal."
Sam nodded. "So, you want to do something now?"

"Yes I would like to do something sleep." He looked at her. "Sorry just been super sleepy past couple days. But that's fine we can do something first."

James saw Calla leave and he made a small noise, hallway between a whine and a growl.
Josh laughed. "You're hilarious." He shook his head. "Just go to sleep."
Sam nodded. "We can sleep. I'm tired too."

"I promise we will do something tomorrow." He whispered.

Josh watched him the whole night long to make sure he wouldn't try anything.
Sam nodded, smiling. "Ok."

He picked her up and took her to the bedroom. "Goodnight Princess." He smiled.

Sam smiled. "Goodnight Charming." She pulled herself closer to him and shifted to get comfortable, falling asleep.
James woke up to early morning sunlight and his eyes snapped open. He was starving, but he didn't know how to communicate that, so he just growled. It was not a threatening growl, more like one to say that he wasn't happy.

He woke up refreshed. "Good morning." He whispered.

Sam smiled and blinked her eyes open. "Morning. How did you sleep?" She asked, yawning and stretching.

"I slept perfect should we check on them or go get breakfast?"

Sam nodded. "We might as well do both." She stood and yawned again. "Ready to go?"

He heard crying as they got closer. "What wrong Calla?" He asked.
She looked up. "Had nightmare again about out two good friends." She whispered. She smiled against James.

James looked up, and when he spotted Sam and Danny, He immediately started to growl, long and low.
Sam nodded. "Ok. So once someone is caught, the cop switches to being the robber and has as long as it takes for the other person to escape, to get away?" She asked, waiting for his approval.
