When you think about Nazi Germany, do you ever think about book burning? How long is the list of topics before you make that connection? (You don't have to be specific, just a thought)
What do you think happened to Liesel's birth mother?
Do you consider Hans Hubermann to be a coward in any way?
How do you feel about the title "The Shoulder Shrug"?
Do you think Liesel was brave? Would you grab a burning book so casually?

Rachael (daisylibrarian) When you think about Nazi Germany, do you ever think about book burning? - Its never the first thought that comes to my head, but I do know that it happened.

How long is the list of topics before you make that connection? - Not overly, my main interest is the holocaust and what happened their. Then I will think of the smaller details.

What do you think happened to Liesel's birth mother? - Anything could have happened, if she was Jewish, than she was most likely locked up in the concentration camps.

Do you consider Hans Hubermann to be a coward in any way? - I think he is a strong individual for voicing his beliefs so readily, but he did grow fearsome of the consequences.

How do you feel about the title "The Shoulder Shrug"? - I think it fits that part of the book.

Do you think Liesel was brave? - In a way, I think she was, but the definition of "brave" is to do something even if your afraid.

Would you grab a burning book so casually? - Me? Oh yes I would, NO one burns a book when I am near!
