I memorized a passage, a few short verses actually, of Romans which exalts God and explains my options. Romans11:33-12:3. That was in 1973, and amazingly in my moments of despair I have found this floating up into my awareness and saying it has helped reorient my focus in the midst of my troubles. The trouble did not go away, but in this I've asked for help from God and been encouraged to seek help from people. I also have found it helpful to go walking in the evening after dusk.
I found your techniques here to match my experience, thank you for posting them. I look forward to reading what other folks say about it.

David Corbin (goodreadscomdavid_corbin) | 5 comments Stanley, as a believer in Jesus Christ, we are called to live a bold, confident and overcoming life. We do not have to live under the weight and pressure of fear or anxiety. Because of Jesus, fear, worry and uncertainty are beneath us. When we rise up in faith, knowing that God is with us and for us, all doubt and fear has to leave our lives.

It is frustrating to see these threads/posts in all the Christian groups!

Negative thoughts will come at times, but we have a choice; we do not have to entertain them, and we definitely do not need a book to explain how negative thoughts and emotions can be accommodated! The reason so many Christians are defeated is that they have a negative confession. They talk of their weaknesses and failures and invariably this negative talk forms part of their confession. In Mark 11:23 Jesus said “…he will have whatever he says”. Our words enforce God’s spiritual law that we are what we say. The choices we make, the things we say, the actions we take, and what we believe about what is happening around us determines whether God or Satan dominates in our lives.

There is much truth we can learn from information, and information is good. We need to process things, and contemplate the things of God. Many or most of our beliefs are based upon the information we have and choose to trust. But information is not knowledge, and belief and trust are not Biblical faith.

Biblical faith is submission to God, to be God and Creator, Sustainer and Author of our faith in God the Father through the Son Jesus, by Jesus' work on our behalf by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this, despite what trials and temptations I have I am assured God does not fail, He is not defeated, His will shall be done. What occurs in this life are not lessons for me to learn from, what God teaches me in this life are lessons to learn and a mirror to see His conformity of me into the image of The Son. I shall look like Him, not like successful people in the fallen world.

I'll be signing off and out now. I wish the peace of God upon those who truly have faith in Him, and not their own ability to "be all they can be" by claiming promises God did not make to them. One day we shall overcome, only because He is greater, His has overcome the world. It is His life in us that is eternal, knowing God is eternal life. Merely knowing about God, well that is called having information.

Thanks be to God. Amen. It is my intention not to offend anyone, however not everyone is convinced they are supposed to be slow to anger. I'm grateful I have had this time to read the messages and pray we all lean not upon our own understanding while we still seek to learn information and have that become true knowledge.

David Corbin (goodreadscomdavid_corbin) | 5 comments You are not going to be complete in Christ someday, you are already complete in Christ! All that remains for you to do is to walk daily in that completeness by believing that it is true and confess that what you need right now, Jesus is that need to you. God's promises to Abraham (Gen. 12:1-3) are yours to inherit through the righteousness of faith in Jesus and His finished work at the cross (Rom. 4:13). This righteousness is given to you as a gift from God, so you do not have to earn it through good works.

For God to bring about His promise, He has to prosper you. You cannot be the heir of the world and be poor or in debt! Not only that, He must keep you healthy because you cannot inherit the world when you are sick and bedbound. Ignore people who tell you that you will only get to enjoy these blessings when you get to heaven one day. Why would you need riches in heaven? In heaven there is so many riches that even the streets are made of pure gold (Rev. 21:21); and why would you need healing in heaven? There is no sickness there. Therefore, you need the health and wealth in the here and now!

God wants you to be the heir of the world today. Lay hold of your rich inheritance today by placing faith in Christ. In the Bible, Jesus said, “Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’… For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things” (Matt. 6:31–32). Once, He said, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matt. 7:11).

Jesus wants you to always have this image of God in your mind — that He is your Abba Father. Why? Because He wants you to know that there is nothing more important or too insignificant for the Father when it comes to His children.

Finally, trials/tests/lessons are a design of Satan, not God; and Satan is not out to perfect your faith. For if the trying of your faith perfected it, all Christians would be in a better place as I do not know of anyone who has not experienced, and probably is still experiencing, trials/tests/lessons.... Reading Matt. 6:9-10 it says “...Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...”. Stop there and ask yourself whether it is God’s will that we be tested and tried in heaven? Jesus asserted that it is the Father’s will for things to be done on earth, as they are done in heaven. In heaven there are neither tests, trials, sickness, poverty, nor lack. Therefore, it is not God’s will for you to be tested and tried, have sickness, poverty, and or lack in this life!

Thank you so much Gregory for posting this and also your post on Romans 11:33-36 and Romans 12:1-3. Awesome testimony you gave. Thank you!

Steve Stroble | 7 comments Stanley: good, practical advice. Too much that is offered in Christendom is so spiritual that it is no earthly good.
