completely like Sheldon

I have never read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, but I have heard a lot of good things about it. Is it just as easy to read? Initially I think I felt that Rosie was a little immature, but then I think I realised that really she is similar to most people, but her immaturity is a little more on display, probably for the purposes of the book!

I agree that there are points when he does seem rude. But I think its important to realise that he doesn't understand his rudeness.

I think we may have to agree to disagree on that point Ian. He seems very self aware to me, but I am giving this character the benefit of the doubt and continuing the book. He does seem to have his moments like with the neighbour and celebrating birthdays though

I don't find him rude nor mean, because his intentions are always pure. He doesn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, and he cannot empathize with those whose feelings he hurts because he would not be offended by the same type of comments if they were directed at him.

I haven't laughed much (I find Don a little more heartbreaking than funny), but the book has certainly been an enjoyable read.

Just remembered, I could post the book cover:
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

I can tell I am really going to love this book :)

Glad you have got hooked early on! I loved how analytical the book was. Probably because I am quite analytical myself

If you loved that, you're going to be rolling on the floor in later chapters! I've been trying to explain this book to my husband, and describing some of the comments that get dropped in an off-handed way, as though everyone would say such things, and he's just not getting it.

I agree that you can't really explain this book. The best thing to do is to recommend it I guess :)

Doesn't it make you wonder at all the anomalies in the English language and nuances in social interaction that we take for granted?
Marvellously, funny character, that I warmed to from the start.

Are you enjoying it so far Martha?

Lol, you know you don't have to start bang on March 1st. Take your time and savour it. I was sad when I finished RP...still am:).

After all, one book a month is achievable, even for me, ha!
Encourage me darling, kick me up the proverbial.........

Felt the ending was a little 'garbled'. As if it needed to be wrapped up quickly. A lot happened in the final chapters.
But a joy to read, all the same.

Omg, and I had a whole motivating speech prepared!! Well done for finishing on time...What's your next read?

I have to finish The Ocean at the End of the Lane tonight and have 30% to go...
Now who needs the encouraging :)
Glad you are enjoying it! I hope you continue to like it. I agree that Don becomes more distinct from Sheldon as you read on. I think just the fact that he is searching for a partner makes him seem completely different once you get past the first few chapters
