Ok so the film for divergent is coming out soon and I always read the books first (well at least I try)
After the hunger games came out this whole type of genre popped up so I didn't read them. Now that some time has passed. Are the books good? Are they worth a read?

Absolutelly. Even tho I've cried oceans after reading Allegiant, it was so traumatic...
You cannot go through life without reading Divergent, Insurgent and Allegient! I cannot wait for the movie and I get goose bumps every time some one (mostly my friends and I) mentions anything to do with it!
It has been compared to The Hunger Games and for good reason, I was in love with the books and even though my friends often complained I no longer had a social life (thanks to the ability to re-read books) I cannot imagine not reading them. These are those books that you just wish you could re-read for the first time.
I am slightly annoyed at Veronica Roth for doing that in Allegient though but I now cannot work out who is my favourite author out of Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth.

Good. Yes I cried and might have cussed a blue streak at the author but let's be honest, probably everyone wanted to see Tobias and tris end up happily ever after.
These books need to be read for one simple fact: it makes you think what if? What if our society goes into a world like tris is born into? Would we be happy? Would it work for us? Could the government actually do something like this? It makes you question so much, especially with our world being on the brink of war every day it seems like.

Not bad, but not great. I think its a really good storyline, but the way it was written was disappointing. The characters weren't thought out very well which was a shame because it could have been an amazing trilogy. I think the last book is by far the best, but the first two put you off (the writing, NOT the storyline, that i will recommended).
