Some of my favorite series:William R. Forstchen's Lost Regiment
Harry Turtledove's Videssos
Alan Burt Akers' (aka Kenneth Bulmer) Dray Prescot
Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom
Edgar Rice Burroughs' Pellucidar
"Jeffrey Lord's" Richard Blade
Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and Gray Mouser
Robert E. Vardeman's Cenotaph Road
You gave me some great material there, particularly the first two. But i suppose what I'm looking for may be even more specific than i thought.Exploration of a new continent in an established fantasy world and a continuation of an ongoing series. That i guess is specific enough.
Example: hero of the former book sets out on an exploratory expedition to a forbidden/unknown continent. -ish
The third book of the Ketty Jay series The Iron Jackal has the exploration of an ancient city from an extinct civilization on a recently discovered continent. Is something like that what you mean?
It also has other creepy, mysterious elements in a race of ghouls that no one knows where they come from and has them swooping in on their mysterious aircraft unexpected and leaving ghost towns in their wake. It's a fun series filled with air pirates, daring capers, swashbuckly action goodness and awesome dogfights.

That would be more like what I'm looking for, thanks.

I can honestly say I've never actually found a fantasy book about this, but i got a sudden craving so after a lot of searching and failing i thought i might as well ask my peers.
Ringworld and Discworld is excluded since i already know about them.
