I don't know the name of that book but I do remember checking out books from the Multnomah County Library with you around 1997 and one of them was by an author you had an interest in, Padraick Pearse. Does that jog your memory at all?

did you ever check out our sometime sister?? because if its not the book you are looking for, this is the sound of me eating my hat: ahsh ahsh ahsh. it was written in 1998 - female first time novelist. its about the disintegration of a female character and hamlet. there is at least one long letter in the middle of it. it won the minnesota book award and was a discover award finalist...its long-ish - about 450 pages...it has to be i tell you! please believe me!
