Luvtinayothers | 6 comments About twenty years ago I bought a used paperback from a garage sale for a quarter. I remember very little about it. I know that it was a bunch of science fiction stories all of them involving the same character, a man that I think was a scientist. One of the stories involved some sort of virtual reality device that allowed him to fully experience the pleasures of harems! I could have sworn that the
title of the collection was "The Best Laid Plans" but I can't find a collection of short stories with that title so maybe my recollection of the title is completely wrong. Help!

Luvtinayothers | 6 comments I wanted to add this - for some reason "mousetrap" just popped into my head. Maybe the word moustrap
is in the title of the collection of stories, or maybe...there might be a story in the book about a mousetrap or perhaps titled "A Better Mousetrap"...I don't know. I remember so lttle of this book and I'm grasping at straws.

Regina | 3 comments There's a story called 'Best-laid Scheme,' by science fiction writer L. Sprague deCamp, who also wrote a story called 'The Better Mousetrap.' His 'The Better Mousetrap' is from the collection, 'Tales from Gavagan's Bar,' but 'Best-laid Scheme' is not.

Maybe you had a best-of collection?

Luvtinayothers | 6 comments It's definately not "Tales From Gavagan's Bar", I
have that book and it's one of my favorites. I'll check out 'Best-laid Scheme', but I believe
that the collection I'm thinking had stories that
all involved the same main character.

Regina | 3 comments The only other name I could come up with is Rick Conley, who wrote a story called 'Best Laid Plans.' That story is in a collection Asimov edited, titled 'Microcosmic Tales,' but it's definetly not a collection of stories about one character, or even by one author. . . that's all I've got. Good luck with your mystery.

Thanks for letting us know! I'll change the folder and put it on our bookshelf.
