"Journey" , "Mr. Tiger Goes Wild" and "Flora and the Flamingo."Question...Is Oliver Jeffers an American citizen?
I wondered if he qualifies for any American awards.
By far the favorite picture book in my library has been, "The Day the Crayons Quit."
If so, I would think it could win a Geisel award.
Medal - "Mr. Tiger Goes Wild"Honors - "Journey", "The Matchbox Diary", "Locomotive"
Longshots - "Building our House", "Parrots over Puerto Rico", "The Tree Lady", "Frog Song"
I'd like to see Xander's Panda Party win and honors going to Mr. Tiger Goes Wild, The Dark & The Day the Crayons Quit.
I adore Mr. Wuffles for the gold. Journey will probably get it but the kids in my bookstore have shown zero interest in it. Honors for Mr. Tiger Goes Wild (I do love this one too-very hard to choose between this title and Mr. Wuffles for the gold medal). Everyone seems to be overlooking What the Heart Knows:Charms, Chants and Blessings by Joyce Sidman. It is absolutely glorious. How to Train a Train is extemely cute and may have a good chance as an honor book.

Oliver Jeffers is an American citizen. I believe he lives in Brooklyn.
I think Mr. Tiger Goes Wild will get the gold, with Journey, Locomotive, Lucky Ducklings and The Tortoise and the Hare as Honor books. I loved Flora and the Flamingo, but if you look it has gutter issues. In one spread Flamingo's leg doesn't match across the gutter. Problems such as this knock great books off the list of contenders.
