Need Series Help! What is the real series??

I was looking at the Perdido Street Station series information - which is super confusing.

There are (what looks like) three different names all added to this same series.

So, which one is correct?

I see this series named:

New Crobuzon

But when I go to the "New Crobuzon" series link I see the book has another series in the title: "(Bas-Lag, #1)."

I also see Perdido Street Station broken down into parts 1 & 2 with the series named "Perdido Street Station" but that is in a different language.

So confused. What is the name of this series?

The series name is any of New Crobuzon, Bas-Lag, Svět Bas-Lagu, Noul Crobuzon. The series creator chose one of those and references the others in the series notes. I checked several sources and each of those calls the series something different. His website does not list the books or the series. All of the series names appear to be correct; they are just not uniform between the series name in the title field and the series name used to create the series.

The French version of Perdido Street Station was broken into 2 volumes hence the series Perdido Street Station so they can stay connected.

Seriously confusing.

Also, the separate series listing for the halved books is necessary when the halves are not renumbering the series: each edition indicates that it is part 1 or 2 of book 1 in the larger series, not that it is book 1 or book 2 in a series. Since the halves are also tied together by being part of the larger series, I've removed the separate series.

My OCD is flaring up.

I can't imagine that the series really has so many names. How does anyone know who's talking about what??
But, as you said, I cannot locate any information that is uniform. Everyone calls it something different - including GR.

But at least two of the titles are in English. And they are drastically different.

That's not at all uncommon for books published in the UK, United States, Canada, and Australia. You'll also see different titles on books/series published in Spain and Argentina, for another common example.
