Kat (thatcrazykatlady) | 25 comments Hi, everyone.

My reading habits are pretty well-entrenched: I prefer non-fiction to fiction when it comes to leisure reading, I pick up re-reads far more than books I haven't yet read (which makes my tbr list cry), and I unintentionally neglect authors of colour unless I make a conscious effort not to. My goals for 2009 are to do the opposite of what I usually do, to shake up the old routine a bit. :) Also, I'd like to knock off 50 books this year. Crossing my fingers, but I'm a pretty slow reader!

Here's what I have of the year so far, not counting several Sweet Valley High nostalgia trips...

1. Meet Felicity by Valerie Tripp
2. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

3. Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson
4. The Mother Tongue: English and How It Got That Way by Bill Bryson
5. The End of Mr. Y by Scarlett Thomas
6. A Fine and Private Place by Peter S. Beagle

7. Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell
8. An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore

9. Does My Head Look Big in This? by Randa Abdel-Fattah
10. The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy
11. Code Talker: A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two by Joseph Bruchac
12. Song of the Trees by Mildred D. Taylor

13. Never Learn Anything from History by Kate Beaton
14. The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

15. Under the Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer
16. The Inimitable Jeeves by P. G. Wodehouse
17. Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock
18. Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
19. The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury

(Bad Kat! No biscuit!)

(I read the first two books in the SVU series many times when I was younger. So that breaks my streak!)

Kat (thatcrazykatlady) | 25 comments I'm going ahead to add onto the list now, because I don't think I'm going to be reading any new books in the next three days. I'm pretty proud, because I BARELY made it to 50 books, which was one of my ultimate goals for the year.

45. The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl by Belle de Jour
46. Dracula is a Pain in the Neck by Elizabeth Levy
47. Frankenstein Moved in on the Fourth Floor by Elizabeth Levy
48. The Suspect by L. R. Wright
49. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
50. And the Sea Will Tell by Vincent Bugliosi and Bruce Henderson

FICTION 32/50 (A good 3/5 of the books I read this year were fiction, which is really good for me. It's usually closer to half, or less than. I'm going to keep trying with this. There's still a very significant number of fiction titles on my shelves I have yet to read.)
AUTHORS OF COLOUR 10/50 (This is just sad, and something I'm going to work harder on next year.)

Happy holidays!
