Goodreads cannot be responsible for Google Alerts.

but Thomas F. Stone is the illustrator inside. His name should stay.

Because that is the only book on which he is listed as an author (albeit a secondary author). Unless he writes or illustrates another book which is added to Goodreads, that probably won't change. Although again, Goodreads cannot take any responsibility for what Google does.

Is it possible that you contact Google support? It seem like they can do with a bit of improvement, since this "alert" is not accurate.

Probably not. I don't know what the alert was set up to search for. I've tried a few variations on both of the authors names and the book title and I haven't managed to get a result that even hinted that the illustrator was the main or only author of the book. Always Dianna or else nothing, never Thomas.
Any author would have to be concerned if it looked like their book was being attributed to someone else but I wonder what the illustrator will say when he sees that the 'other' author wanted him completely off the book profile.
EDIT: Or Patty Thurlby, the other illustrator (cover).

Very true.
I just...can't see a typical shopper setting up a google alert vs...checking out Amazon or B&N.

It was ages since I had previously tried a Google alert and I was surprised how little it found. It still finds very little and I won't be bothering with it.

Agreed. I find that Fictfact is the best place to get alerts for new series books and the rest go on a wish/shopping list. As you said, Google Alerts does little.

I have no way of telling what that particular google alert was reporting to the author or if somehow she's seeing something different on her author dashboard.
Personally, I think "illustrations" is an odd role to assign anyone as it's more usual on goodreads and most sites to list the role as "Illustrator" (or less often as "illustrated by"). I used to be a goodreads librarian and calling the role of illustrator "illustrations" sounds odd, as odd as if an anthology's editor role became an "edits" role.
Dianna wrote: "would it be horrible to ask that Patty Thurlby be added back as the cover artist."
It wouldn't be horrible, but it would be contrary to Goodreads policy. Cover artists are not listed as authors (secondary or otherwise) on Goodreads.
