Coordinating reading books in groups
I am interested, but this month may also be tough for me. I'd be willing to say maybe November for Leviathan???
Valerie wrote: "I am interested, but this month may also be tough for me. I'd be willing to say maybe November for Leviathan???"I am definitely in for this one as well, and would love to read along as a group read. I can do so whenever it is most convenient for everyone else.
November would be tough....If you want to wait until November, can we switch it out with The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress...I dont want to get too backlogged!
I want to read Wool Omnibus
Oryx and Crake
Perdido Street Station
The Color of Magic
and maybe The Left Hand of Darkness.
Ones that aren't listed:
The Last Wish
The Name of the Wind
The Long Earth
The Black Prism
The Diamond Age
Blackout
I should probably stop there or my list will become epic. So are your dates for next years reads? I only recently joined the group, but I did 26 books for my challenge, which means I have to read 18 more this year!!! I'm reading Foundation next month for another group. I would also be willing to read Zoo City again because it was an interesting book.

If you look at Michaels post 200..those are the dates for the 2014 reads. SO we still have three we were planning on, but can change things up if interest dictates!
I don't really want to read Leviathan Wakes, and I've read Doomsday Book (which was very good), but maybe I'll be able to do one of the others.
Would anybody be interested in Zoo City for December? It's a fairly short read so it would be a good month for it.
Actually don't know what I was thinking. October works for me, as well. However, I am good with the suggestion to swap The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and Leviathan Wakes.
Ah! I can't read The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress until November, but if a group of you are reading it sooner, I can just come to the party late and do some follow-up posts...
I am trying to coordinate my reading plans for this month and next and am checking in regarding our group read plans for Leviathan Wakes. Anyone else still in on this, and if so when?Oh, and after completing Mistborn: The Final Empire, I couldn't stop. I and am now into the third book, The Hero of Ages in the Mistborn Trilogy Boxed Set. Great stuff.
Valerie wrote: "I will be reading Leviathan Wakes, just not sure how quickly I will get to it."Great. Let me know when you start.
What's the status on Doomsday Book and The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress? Some time just freed up in my schedule, so I could read one of those this month. But if people are still doing Leviathan, that's fine, too.I hadn't heard Doomsday discussed since January choices were made so I was curious if anyone was planning it. It's about 600 pages!

Maggie, is Across the Nightingale Floor a past group read? If so, I'll join you for that and Zoo City. I've read Zoo City before, but I'd love to re-read.
what time frame are you thinking?I am one of those people who usually has four books going at once, so I am versatile...lol
MMichael-I want to read Doomsday Book still as well.
I'm pretty open. Do you want to do one in Oct and one in Nov? Depending on when you do the Doomsday Book, because that's a lengthy read.
let's do Nightingale now (ina week or two) and Zoo City in December? I want to read Moon and Doomsday with the group, so that would work perfect
I haven't put Doomsday back in my re-read pile, but was planning on it (I love Willis). I'd be interested in moving it to the front of my stack.
I'm in for DOOMSDAY BOOK in Oct, MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS in Nov, and ZOO CITY for Dec. Is that the way it's going?
Kgwhitehurst wrote: "I'm in for DOOMSDAY BOOK in Oct, MOON IS A HARSH MISTRESS in Nov, and ZOO CITY for Dec. Is that the way it's going?"Works for me! I'll pencil in the two new ones to the schedule at the top of this page.
I put a hold on Nightingale and should get it in a week or so. I'm not sure if I'll be participating in Doomsday but I'll try. I do want to read the sequels so it would be good to join. I'm in for Moon and Zoo City. That's three or four towards the 16 I need to read to meet my challenge!
I'll be picking up Across the Nightingale Floor from the library on Tuesday. I can read it any time after that.
Maggie wrote: "anyone else reading Leviathan?"Me. I think Valerie wants to as well, but unclear when. I will probably start this week after I finish The Martian, but can hold off if needed.
We reuse previous discussion threads so it's all in one place and in case folks from the original discussion want to chime in:Across the Nightingale Floor:

Thanks Michael. You should consider reading the remaining two books in the Mistborn series in your, um, spare time. They really expand and flesh out the first book nicely.

I am currently reading Zoo City, so I am totally up for discussion for anyone else reading it.Next week, I hope to start Leviathan Wakes. Not sure how my reading list go so out of whack.

Finished Across the Nightingale Floor, and almost done with Leviathan Wakes. Next up will be Doomsday Book and Alif the unseen for me.Then Stranger and Moon in November and Zoo City in December
I also finished Nightingale. I'm not joining Doomsday, but I'll join Zoo City and Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
I'll join for Leviathan Wakes! I'll get started on it when I finish Authority which should hopefully be tonight.
Maggie wrote: "Next up will be Doomsday Book and Alif the unseen for me."I'm reading both of those and can do either order, but I won't be starting until this weekend. David, Kgwhitehurst, you both expressed interest in Doomsday Book - do you have an order preference?

I see there's been some activity in multiple reading threads! If you are still reading some of the books, or finished and want to post your thoughts, here are the links again:Across the Nightingale Floor:

In particular, Zoo City was originally scheduled for December, so if you are coming in late, please post!
I just got my copy of Doomsday Book from the library, and noticed again how long it is. I just finished the 433 page Alif the Unseen, but this similarly sized 456 page Doomsday Book hardcover has text that looks almost twice as dense, so it's going to take me a minute to read this one...!
David posted that he already started his Doomsday Book reread, and I'll be starting probably Monday, October 13. Here are the threads for anyone who wants to start posting before then:
Doomsday Book Initial Impressions (No Spoilers)
"Doomsday Book" Finished Reading (Spoilers)
Since this one is so long, and seems like something of a magnet for progress spoilers, I'll see if I can add some threads for different sections of the book once I get the lay of the land...

Oh, and is anyone else planning on reading Leviathan Wakes for September? I won't have time this month but it sounds like Maggie is interested. Anyone else?
