1. I started the Sign Ups for the Choose Me This! Challenge and I'd like to send a message out, anyone else here, who has something that requires a message?

2. Just a question to all of you:
In the Choose me This Challenge for this month, not everyone picked their books. I sent out a reminder about a week ago, but they still didn't choose.
However no one complained about not getting picks, so do you think I should remind them again or just ignore it?

3. I'm sooo busy catching up with all my buddy reads now >.<

So did the mods who are responsible for BOTM, SOTM, and Mod BOTM make threads asking for suggestions for May yet? I'd like to make polls soon. (Mod BOTM mod coordinator, can you please PM me the choices so I can put it to a poll?)

I did BOTM and Scheduled BOTM this month, but I wanted to leave both open until Sunday :)
And MOD BOTM is supposed to be a little bit later this month, since I wanted people to look at the BOTM choices first, so we have a little bit of variety in our BOTM, Scheduled BOTM, SOTM and MOD BOTM (like not everything is from the same genre etc.)

Ok I'll wait until Sunday. And I'm going to start a message system where we only send out two or three messages a month. One will be in the beginning of the month to announce challenge signups, commencements, any R2Rs, BOTMs, SOTMs, Mod BOTM, scheduled BOTM etc. Second message, mid-month will list more challenge signups, commencements, R2Rs, and polls. MAYBE a third message for more R2Rs, reminder polls, and any more challenges. This group is getting bigger and most members don't like frequent messages.

I think that the book series chats, authors and shows need new comments so more members can notice this folders and share their thoughts.

Maybe we could post comments so the members can see activity and join us. What do you think?

Hey all, spring break starts for me tomorrow. I'm going college campus touring all over Northeastern USA so I probably won't be on GR much for the next week. I'll make the polls now and send out a challenge notification and polls link message when I get back.

The idea with MOD BOTM being chosen after BOTM(and the other similar books) suggestions is like this:
If, for example(probably an extreme situation lol), everyone suggests vampire theme books for BOTM, SOTM and Scheduled BOTM, people wouldn't have a big choice with voting, so we'd only have vampire themes books.
So in that case it would make sense, that MOD BOTM shouldn't be vampire themed books to ensure a wide variety of books.

That extreme situation probably will never happen, but it could be like a majority of the suggestions are fantasy/dystopian/romance/etc.

I hope everyone understands the idea now and maybe we can try to do it again next time! :)

I understand it can be a little bit chaotic sometimes, but it was a little bit weird for me to suddenly see BOTM Poll, when no one even bothered to close Suggestions for May and I had just pointed out, I'd leave it open till Sunday lol

How about adding a folder/section for user created Challenges and One Time/Seasonal Challenges(I'm talking about everything that isn't supposed to be monthly)? :) That way the group wouldn't be floated with challenges anymore lol We could even add small challenges like the alphabet challenge and acrostic challenge to this folder.

Regarding the user created challenges: There is a chance more people will participate in the group, if they are allowed to start small challenges themselves and invite others to join. To small challenges I'd count everything, where you don't have to sign up for and can start everytime you like(it wouldn't be a problem to set a date for the challenge though), e.g. yearly challenges, celebrating 100 challenge, challenges where you have to spell a word or read a certain amount of books in a certain color ...

At least I love to set up small challenges for myself and invite others to join, so maybe some other people might enjoy doing that, too :)

I added it to the challenge folder, since we'll only need one topic, but if the challenge folder was for special group challenges only, feel free to move it. (I'd suggest a "Other Challenges" folder, where user created challenges go to as well, if the challenge folder isn't needed for special challenges, we can add the user created challenges there as well.)

Can someone send out a group message?(Who is in charge of that?) Since we didn't want to have so many messages anymore, I'd count is as mid month message including:
Board Game Challenge
Choose Me This! Sign Ups for May
BOTM (and other polls)
Other stuff(anyone here, who wants to add something?)

Just as a side question: Do I have to create the polls for Mod BOTM and Scheduled BOTM? I think I was only supposed to collect the suggestions lol

Yeah we have tons of challenges, but I TOTALLY want a team challenge in here :D I absolutely love the one in YA Book Gang!!! I'll definitely be willing to help with whatever that needs!

I think it would be easier to let the team choose someone as his/her captain, because you won't have to think about who is going to help you and can determine a certain group number like always 4 or 5 people group.

Recently I took part in a challenge, where we had 4 member groups and had to read each week a book for a theme, that was great :) (It was running like 12 weeks or so and the themes always stayed the same)

You might want to try something similar like let the challenge runs 3 months and every two weeks the theme changes. At least if you want to do a team challenge like who can read the most, I think I'd get annoyed reading the whole month books with the same theme lol

@Jasmin, just read your comment from three days ago. Sorry, I'm on spring break vacation and won't be back until Sunday so I put the polls up early. It's my job to do polls and they usually go up mid month. My duties are pretty light right now and it doesn't feel right to pawn off my job to someone else just because I don't have my laptop with me to do it myself. I can't send out group messages right now or create polls as I'm on vaca and my MacPro doesn't come in the mail until I return home. You said to keep the suggestions open until "Sunday" when I asked on a Monday. I put the polls up on that Friday night I think. Two days is not going to make much of a difference. I even threw in a choice or two of my own to add variety. I am also messenger mod. Unfortunately I can't send mass messages through the GR app but Hannah has been lovely and filled in for me for the time being. As soon as I return I will be on top of messages and polls and challenges and stuff. I'll just look through each challenge to determine what needs to be put in the message. I mod many groups, Id like to think I have a tiny clue as to what I'm doing. So please, don't be angry or pissed when you don't know the full story.

I think the team could be able to decide to either have a group effort or like nominate a captain :)
