#4 Readathon: Q&A

#1. How do you try to fit in so many pages during readathons?
- For me I just read whenever I possibly can. I try to get the things I have to do that day out of the way so the rest of the day I can read. I will read from the time I finish my homework after school until bed unless I have something to do.
#2. What are some tips you maybe use that would be helpful for other participants?
- Don't stress. There is no such thing as failing in readathons! As long as you are reading, you are succeeding!
- If you aren't feeling motivated go to our Let's Chat thread! I will be checking on the threads often so even if you don't get a response relatively quickly I will eventually be there to cheer you on!
- Personally, I try to stay away from big chunky books during readathons. I like 300-350 page books for readathons.
- Give yourself a big pile of books to choose from. If you give yourself a small list you may not feel like reading them once the readathon arrives.
- Move around while reading! Don't sit in one place all day or your back can start hurting and it won't be fun to read anymore!
- HAVE FUN!
#3. How many books/pages do you hope to read?
- I want to read an average of 250 pages per day so by the end of the week I would like to have 1,750 pages under my belt but I would absolutely love it if I could read more! :D

1. How do you try to fit in so many pages during readathons?
I've only done the 24 hour read-a-thons and not a full week so my advice might be different after this one. But, after completing two 24 hour ones,
I would say:
- varying my type of books (paper, audio, ebook)
- varying my genres
- keeping my books on the shorter side. Most of my books in the last read-a-thon were around 300 pages or less.
They kept my attention, the varying story lines kept me reading and the genre changes were great. I read way more the 2nd time than I did the first.
- I also pre-chose my books. I had the stack next to me & the ebooks loaded so I didn't spend any time at my bookshelf going "hmmmm...what should I read now." That's huge, so you don't waste time picking.
- Close Goodreads. No seriously, close goodreads. Only go to Goodreads when you are inbetween books or need a break. If you keep it open, you'll keep getting distracted.
2. What are some tips you maybe use that would be helpful for other participants?
- Just have fun. As soon as it's not fun and it becomes "work", you'll want to stop reading.
- Dig through your TBR pile. This is the time to grab that book that you keep meaning to read and keep putting off. Or, grab all those new books you got for Christmas - make sure you are excited about your books.
These are tips that someone else told me that I've always done as well:
- If you snack while reading, keep them healthy. Grapes, apples, oranges, carrots - light and easy. It will help you not get sleepy or feel blah.
- Drink lots of water. It's easy to lose track of time and not realize you've been sitting in one spot for hours reading. Drinking lots of water will help you stay awake and feeling better.
3. How many books/pages do you hope to read?
Since this is my first week long one, I'm not 100% sure. I'm just going to see how I do
Before Readathon Starts Questions:
How do you try to fit in so many pages during readathons?
1. I just try to read when I get the chance. I ALWAYS have a book and my nook on me so when I have the chance to read I have options to pick from.
2. When getting close to finishing a book I have my next book already picked out and read to read. This way I don't stand and wonder "what to read next?"
3. for the read-a-thons it has helped to have a stack of books ready and near.
4. Stay off social sites (Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads) this way I don't get distracted. Only come on a few times and limit the time.
What are some tips you maybe use that would be helpful for other participants?
1. Have fun. That's the most important thing to remember. Reading should be fun.
2. Have a stack of books to pick from. And if you can't pick from the stack during the last one I put all the book titles in a hat and picked from that. The title picked would be my next book to read.
3. Change positions. Don't stay in one place the whole time. Go outside.
4. Change formats. Read physical books, nook books, and even listen to audio-books. Allow your eyes some change.
5. When it comes to food/water bring just a few items with you. These way when you run out it will force you to get up and walk around.
6. If needed have background music on. Some soft music is always great. I usually have soundtracks on which really help me read.
How many books/pages do you hope to read?
I want to read at least 200 pages each day but more would be great. I will have to see how the week goes!!!

3.How many books/pages do you hope to read?
Since this is my first read-a-thon, I hope to read at least 50 pages a day. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but I'm at school for majority of the day and have homework and things to do. I am also traveling this weekend so I won't have much time to read other then in the car. I hope to read overall, 350 pages. I hope to finish the book I am currently reading and start another one and get at least halfway in :)
Once the week is over then you can do the last three questions which has to do how your week went and things like that!
