How to get there?
Ride the MRT/LRT to Cubao, get out at Gateway Mall and walk towards Ali Mall. (If you go out at Krispy Kreme/CBTL side of Gateway, it's to your right)
Walk straight, past Shopwise, and past the buses and cross the street. Cubao Expo is across Ali Mall, near SaveMore, where there are many, many jeeps that come from Libis. :)
In case you need a map, here! :)
The Appraisery is just inside Cubao X, near Bellini's. If you know where Libreria and Mogwai used to be, it's near there. If you don't know that, it's where Mogwai is on the map. :D You won't miss, it, promise.
I've reserved the 2nd floor of The Appraisery. :) We have a 5000 consumable for the time we're there, so have your snacks there. :)
F2F Activity # 1: Best and Worst 2013
We didn't do this during the Christmas party because we wanted to have more time for Harry Potter. So after our short discussion on Neil Gaiman's book, we shall have our first F2F activity, a show and tell of our favorite and least favorite reads of 2013.
So in preparation for this activity, please prepare the following:
1. Your best/most favorite read of 2013
2. Your worst/least favorite read of 2013
If you have more than one favorite in 2013, you can mention up to three. If you don't have a worst read, you can bring the book you liked the least -- you didn't really have to dislike it, but it's just something you didn't really like as much as the other books you read.
If you can bring copies of these books on Saturday, please do, in preparation for our other F2F activity, I Dare You to Read. More details on that before Saturday! :D
Tina: we bring books that are best and worst, or worst lang?Sayang, nabigay ko na ung Speak copy ko last December book pile. lol
F2F Activity # 2: I Dare You to Read
A little late, but here we go!
The I Dare You to Read activity is a little game for all of us to try reading something that our book club friend liked and disliked, and perhaps read something that is completely out of our normal reading comfort zones.
Everyone will get a dare sheet to keep on Saturday, to take note of the books that will be dared to them. There are three parts to this F2F game, which will be revealed on Saturday. (view spoiler)
And this is why we're asking you to bring your best and worst books...and I hope you're okay with lending them to fellow readers? :D (Just this once, if you're not the lending type :P) Because we will ask you to lend the book to whoever gets dared to read those books. (So it's not really adding to the other person's TBR...except that we really are.)
But what if it's an ebook copy? We can figure this out later. :D
But what if I just borrowed my copy of that best book? Well...the dared one can try to look for a copy of the book on their own, or you, who really liked the book, can point the dared one to a direction of the copy.
You can opt to gift them the book, if you'd be kind enough to do so. :D
Can I not read the worst book? Well, you can decide not to read it, but like what Ranee said: someone's trash can be a treasure for someone! So keep an open mind. :)
Do I really need to read all dared books? Not really. But it's fun. And we'll be making this sort of a year-long activity, for those who just want to put a little more excitement in their reading life. So you really have a year to read all of them.(And there may be a prize for the people who complete the dare by the end of this year. :D)
So... how many books would one person bring on Saturday? Just two: best and worst? And those are also the books that we will dare others to read? Tama ba pagkaintindi ko? :D
sweet! although i'm not sure i ought to bring Allegiant, at baka matuluyan nang maitapon ko yun. Chos.

What I did was print the cover of the books (3x4), then upload the ebook/audio copies in the BOX. Links may be shared to those who'll be dared later. :)
Cary wrote: "Tina, may question ako. Is the dare limited to fiction books lang or pwede din non-fiction?"Oh gosh, Cary, please don't! lol
On e-books: Or I'm also thinking that I could print the cover of the book to represent it, and send the file when the daree (or person who was dared, lol) wants to read it na. Hehehe. :D

Natawa naman ako sa reaction mo ng bongga!! Don't worry maria, I won't dare you to read non-fic. hahaha!
Tina, napaisip kasi ako, karamihan pala ng mga nabasa at nagustuhan kong books last year ay non-fic. hays.
For the peeps who don't have e-readers, perhaps we could be exempted if the dared book is an e-book? Hihihi.
Ganito na lang, if anybody ever dared me to read a a nonfic, I would dare him/her back to read erotica. (view spoiler)

hahahahahaha!!!
hmm, napaisip tuloy ako *wink*
Hi! Question: what if the least liked book is part 2 of a series? At medyo nagustuhan ko naman yung book 1? Pwede pa rin ba yun isama sa "I Dare You to Read"? :)
Tina: Are you going to post the "game rules" here today? Or you're going to announce tomorrow? My best and worst are both e-books. :(
Cris: Hm that's tricky. Pero I'd say yes, pwede. :)Meliza: actually simple lang naman yung rules, pero di ko lang siya mai-word ng maayos pag isusulat ko tonight kasi may pinapatapos sakin sa office. Hehe. But don't worry if your books are ebooks. You can do what Louize did, or just explain tomorrow kahit wala kang ipapakita. :)
Angus: Can I simply trust in fate that the people who don't read ebooks won't get dared to read ebooks? Haha :D Pero don't worry, we'll have a back-up for this. :D
See you guys tomorrow! I'll be in Cubao around 2:30, so text/call me in case you get lost (view spoiler). We're at the second floor of The Appraisery. :)
