The Power of the Pen - open until 1/31/14

The Power of the Pen is a prompt-based contest. In other words, we give you a prompt, and you write something from it. Don't let yourself get too bogged down - let's keep this fun and lively! (That's not to say that serious/dramatic stories aren't allowed - they most certainly are. Just make sure you're having fun writing them!)

Submissions can be in any genre, and can be up to 5,000 words. Entries will be accepted through January 31, 2014, and the winner will be announced by February 10, 2014.

And here's the prompt:
You're walking down a crowded street. A stranger shoves a book into your hands as he/she passes by. You turn, but can't locate the person in the crowd. Looking back at the book, you slowly open it...
