What books are you reading right now--and what are your thoughts about them?

Melinda Curtis (goodreadscommelinda_curtis) | 42 comments I have had Janet Evanovich's latest near my bedside since it came out. Haven't had much time to read lately. :( I love her humor.

Helen Taylor (helenscotttaylor) I've just picked up the first Agatha Raisin cozy mystery, The Quiche of Death by M.C. Beaton. After romance, cozys are my favorite read. I do like a bit of romance with my mystery, though.

The American Heiress by Daisy Goodwin - picked it up at a second-hand book store. It isn't really a traditional romance and I'm finding that the fact I can't be sure there's going to be a happy ending is taking away a lot of my reading pleasure. (I won't skip to the end to check, though - that's cheating!)

I guess that's why I love romance and cozy mysteries - they follow the rules and deliver satisfactory endings. Real life is uncertain enough as it is!

Beth Barany (bethbarany) | 2 comments My husband is reading aloud to us THE GODS OF GUILT by Michael Connelly. I'm reading 2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson on my own. No romance right now. I'm working on my own, so can't read any right now.

I love Stephanie Plum stories. I have a few on my shelf I haven't read yet. Must get around to them.

I like medical romances. This one sounds fun. I'll have to check it out.

Finished The American Heiress. On to Belgrave Square - I am so excited to have found an Anne Perry book that I hadn't already read in the local bookstore! I love her characters, Thomas and Charlotte Pitt, their relationship and all the wonderful little period details that she weaves into these books.

Meanwhile, so far I'm not doing well with my Goodreads resolution for 2014, which was to read a lot fewer books than last year, so I can have time for other things I want to do, like write one!

That sounds either very intense or like a zombie story...

message 11: by Shaleen (new)

Shaleen (samican) | 18 comments Not a zombie story. About a girl whose family owns an alligator theme park in the Keys going under.

That sounds really cool! Except the part about you might not finish

Shaleen (samican) | 18 comments Isn't it funny how some of the most romantic books would never be called romance because they are too tragic? I'm thinking Romeo and Juliet, but I just finished Fault in Our Stars. It was beautiful but tragic. I cried all the way through.

I read Fault in Our Stars and I cried all the way through too. Very, very sad but a good book just the same.

Sierra Donovan (sierra_donovan) | 1 comments I had to squeeze in at least one more Christmas book! I'm reading "The Best Gift" by Wendy Markham. It's a time travel romance where this time, the heroine keeps jumping forward at unexpected moments. Really good!

message 17: by Donna (new)

Donna Fasano | 5 comments I'm currently reading Circle in the Sand. I would call this more women's fiction as it's about 4 friends who grew up together. I'm enjoying the book.

message 18: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Daley (margaretdaley) | 3 comments I'm reading the novellas from the First Kisses collection which will be out in March. The authors participating in it are: Debra Clopton, Margaret Daley, Camy Tang, Lacy Williams, Linda Goodnight and Janet Tronstad. Great stories.

Sandra Nachlinger | 14 comments CAPE MAYBE by Carol Fragale Brill
I recently finished reading CAPE MAYBE by Carol Fragale Brill. It's an excellent book (not a romance). If you'd like to read an excerpt, I featured the book on my blog yesterday. http://sandranachlinger.blogspot.com

I just downloaded Donna Fasano's compilation (with other authors) Lost Love Letters: An Indie Chicks Anthology (It's a Valentine's free special on Amazon!) A collection of love letters by different authors. I can't wait to read it, but I'm going to have to stock up on tissues first ... I start crying any time things get emotional in a book (even, or perhaps especially, in a happy way), so I'm looking forward to going through a good box or two of Kleenex enjoying this one! Donna Fasano's Reclaim My Heart is on my list for my next shopping spree. Anyone read it yet? The sample chapter on Donna's website is so gripping, I was mad to reach the end of the sample!

Patricia Forsythe (patriciaforsythebookscom) | 2 comments Just finished reading my way through Jana Deleon's Miss Fortune mysteries. Very funny with lots of great, crazy characters in Sinful, Louisiana. Reminds me of some of my relatives in the south. If they're not crazy, they're not ours. I'm also reading books about the Civil War since I'm researching a book with a historical setting.

Ronda Reader | 1 comments ust finished this one and it is free! I really enjoyed it - a twist at the end. Two more in the series are up next...

Melinda Curtis (goodreadscommelinda_curtis) | 42 comments I'm reading Eloisa James' latest (3 Weeks with Lady X). Although I write contemporary, I do love historicals.

message 26: by Alysia (new)

Alysia S. Knight | 1 comments Blind Witness Blind Witness by Alysia S. Knight Wanted to let everyone know the e-book of Blind Witness will be free on Amazon June 5-7th. It's a clean romantic suspense. I hope you enjoy.

message 27: by Tina (new)

Tina Newcomb (tinanewcomb) | 2 comments I just finished This Heart of Mine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She has a way of describing setting that make you feel as if you're there and her characters become very real. It's always hard for me to finish one of her books because I left wanting more. The are some sex scenes but they aren't very graphic--IMO.

Jennifer (jmckeit) | 11 comments I just read Julia Barrett's The Third Sister, a sequel to Sense and Sensibility. I really like how the author kept to Jane Austen's style!
