Rachel B. | 1 comments Hi everybody! :) My name is Rachel, I'm a new member here. This looks like a fun group and I am looking forward to getting to know some people who love the same kind of books that I do. :) My all-time favorite author is Lynn Kurland... Her books are so funny and sweet! Can anybody recommend any other authors who write similar stories? One can never have too many books stockpiled on their To-Read shelf, I always say. The more, the merrier! ;) I'm reading Ms. Kurland's books in order of publication, and I just finished Much Ado In The Moonlight -- it was wonderfully funny! :)

Linda Carroll-Bradd (linda_carroll-bradd) | 14 comments I'm Linda Carroll-Bradd, and I'm an author of 20 sweet romance titles (mostly short stories and novella length). I publish through The Wild Rose Press, Prism Book Group, and coming in October with Prairie Rose Publications and Roane Publishing. I also have a small-town TX series I'm indie publishing titled Sugar & Spice Bakery.

C. | 6 comments Hi I'm C.Hall,and I love sweet/clean romances,preferably without a lot of ANGST.

I love historicals,contemporary,even some chick-lit.

I have a special weakness for cowboys[OOO-LA-LA!]

Also love humor/banter in my romance,as long as the leads can also be serious, don't like men who are never serious and try to make a joke out of every comment, they become tiresome, and don't have a sincere bone in their body.

Inspirationals are fine, but prefer to avoid books full of religious proselytizing. Do love Amish-themed romance, however.

These are examples of what I like....

His Little Cowgirl (The Cowboy Series #1) by Brenda Minton

Snowbound in Dry Creek by Janet Tronstad

Texas Cooking by Lisa Wingate

Not His Type (Opposites Attract, #1) by Lisa Crane

Pride's Prejudice by Misty Dawn Pulsipher

The Highwayman of Tanglewood by Marcia Lynn McClure

The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley

A Gift of Grace (Kauffman Amish Bakery, #1) by Amy Clipston

Love Finds You in Charm, Ohio by Annalisa Daughety

Brighton Road by Susan Carroll

As you can see,I love most genres,[not only in romance]. :]

Barbara Hello! I just joined the group - I'm a writer and a reader of sweet romances. While I tend to lean toward Harlequin Romance, I also love a good Inspy, Heartwarming or Indie. I'm currently reading an old Trish Wylie book - the Millionare's Proposal - and am looking forward to chatting. BTW, I promise that I will post very VERY little promo. Pinky swear.

message 6: by Carol (new)

Carol Voss | 1 comments So glad to find this group! I joined Goodreads a couple years ago, but techie I am not, so I'm finally attempting to learn to navigate the GR site.
I read across genres, especially love to read and write inspirational romance. Am currently reading Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin.

H.Y. Hanna (hyhanna) Hi everybody! So pleased to find this group - I didn't realise there was such a community of readers who enjoyed sweet romance - it's great to know I'm not alone! :-) I'm an author and I've just launched a new sweet romance series set in a seaside town in Australia, featuring hunky vets and cute animal guest stars (Summer Beach Vets ~ Escape Down Under). With colourful slang, native wildlife and beautiful beach scenery, it's a glimpse into the Aussie way of life - a chance to travel to Australia right from your sofa! :-)

I really thought I would have to write steamy romances in order to find readers so I'm delighted to find there are still many who enjoy a love story without too many graphic details! ;-)

I'm also still learning my way with the "language" that's expected in sweet romances - I keep worrying that a word I want to use (especially in dialogue) might be offensive so I'm looking forward to getting your advice & thoughts on that! (I might post a separate thread on this, actually)

Looking forward to getting to know everybody -

best wishes,
Hsin-Yi
(H.Y. Hanna)

Reading and writing are my most favourite hobbies, and a feeling of intense happiness and a sense of great comfort, invade my entire being, whenever I can escape into the wonderful world of fiction :-)

Another thing that gives me much joy is to become friends with those who share my love for reading and to discuss books with them, so please feel free to connect with me :-)

I read many genres but the ones that I enjoy most are:
--Golden-Age Mystery
--Cozy Mystery
--Historical Romance
--Contemporary Romance
--Romantic Comedy

Since this group is about "Romance" so I would like to share few of my favourite authors in this genre.

HISTORICAL ROMANCE: Georgette Heyer, Judith McNaught, Julia Quinn, Sarah MacLean, Lisa Kleypas etc

CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE: Judith McNaught, Julie James, Kristan Higgins, Robin Bielman, Debbie Macomber etc

S.R. Booth | 1 comments Hi! I really enjoy sweet romances and find myself often favoring YA books! (Although, not all of those are very sweet!) I'm looking forward to going through all the posts here!

Edit 2/11/16 I just started a list for Sweet (clean) Science Fiction Romance. If anyone has a book they would like to add, here's the link: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...

I'm really excited to start connecting with readers and other authors. I joined the FB group too :)

Lilly Grant | 1 comments Hi all! I'm Lilly Grant, and I love reading and writing romances. I didn't realize there was a genre name for 'always skips the sex scenes' until now!

I just published my first sweet romance novella, and I'm really looking forward to getting some good reading recommendations and maybe even some market discussion here. :)

message 15: by Tamara (new)

Tamara Ruth (tamararuth) | 1 comments I'm so thrilled to meet a group of readers and writers of sweet romance. I got my first taste of sweet with the Twilight series and loved it. Now I'm writing my own stories.

Looking forward to being here with all of you.

message 16: by Mary (new)

Mary Alford (maryalford) | 25 comments Hi everyone. I'm new to the group and just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Mary Alford and I love to read and write both sweet and Christian romances. This year, I want to read more, (my writing schedule last year was crazy thanks to me), so I'm excited about reading again. I'm starting out with this one, Tender Love, A Christian Romance by Juliette Duncan. I'm so looking forward to reading it.

message 17: by Liwen (new)

Liwen | 5 comments Hi everyone! I'm new here, too, and am so excited to find other writers and readers of sweet romance. I also love writing and reading about characters' emotional "warm fuzzies" and enjoy romantic comedy as well. I look forward to chatting with you all. :)

Melanie Snitker (melaniedsnitker) | 2 comments Hello! I'm new to the Sweet Romance Reads Goodreads group and I thought I'd come by and introduce myself. I'm Melanie and I love to write and read sweet romance. I don't make nearly as much time to read as I want to and I'm hoping to change that in 2017.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you and chatting!

message 23: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Andem | 2 comments Of course, sweet romance doesn't mean a story without drama.

message 24: by Mary (new)

Mary Alford (maryalford) | 25 comments Of course, Olivia. Drama adds more spice to the story.

message 25: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Andem | 2 comments I say that because some folks roll their eyes when I say sweet romance as if it is drivel.

message 26: by Mary (new)

Mary Alford (maryalford) | 25 comments Olivia, I know what you mean. I think until they read a sweet romance, they don't fully understand it.

message 28: by Mary (new)

Mary Alford (maryalford) | 25 comments So, what are your favorite types of sweet romances? Me, I'm all about the drama. I love stories where the hero and heroine are damaged and trying to overcome their troubled past.

message 29: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Holt (kristinholt) | 6 comments Hello, everyone! My name is Kristin Holt, and I'm a new Author-Member of Sweet Romance Reads, though I've been a lurking member of this Goodreads group for years. =) It's high time I introduce myself and stop in more often to contribute to the conversation.

All of my titles are Sweet Romance (G- and PG-rated), and (to date--though this may change) all are set in the Victorian Era (1837-1901) American West. I write cowboys, mail-order brides, lawmen, lady doctors, lady attorneys, strong women and determined heroes in small town romance, romantic suspense, holiday novellas, and all are stand-alone titles (loosely connected in a series by family or location).

I LOVE history, and blog frequently about everything Old West and of interest to readers of Western Historical Romance. See: http://www.kristinholt.com/archives/c.... Several recent articles have been about books by other Sweet Romance Reads authors. =) I'm a USA Today Bestselling Author and voracious reader. And I LOVE connecting with readers! Looking forward to becoming well-acquainted with you!

Warmly,
Kristin Holt

message 30: by Mary (new)

Mary Alford (maryalford) | 25 comments Congrats on joining the author group, Kristin and thanks for letting us get to know you.
You write a variety of genres. I've always wanted to write historical stories but I can image they would require a lot of research.
I writer sweet romances, Christian romance and Christian Romantic Suspense.

Welcome Kristin Holt. I loved your 12 part non-fiction blog series on 19th century mail order brides. Truth indeed is stranger and more frightening than fiction. Thanks for writing clean romances!

message 32: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Holt (kristinholt) | 6 comments Thank you, Kim. I'm glad you stopped by to read my non-fiction blog series about Nineteenth Century Mail-Order Brides. Wild, isn't it? I've had fun incorporating some of that true-to-life craziness in my recent books. No mail-order bride romance should be that easy and perfect, should it?

Thanks, Kim, for being a Sweet Romance reader! It's a pleasure to meet you.

Best,
Kristin

message 33: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Holt (kristinholt) | 6 comments Hi Mary--

You're right. Historical romance can take a lot of research. I love that part...to the point it becomes a bit too time-consuming. And then turns into blog posts (more time)...and impacts my writing of fiction. But it's the BEST part (sometimes). I think we're all fascinated by something. =)

Thank you for contributing to niches within Sweet Romance. I've read many contemporary sweet romances (including Christian) and enjoy them.

Thanks for the visit!
Kristin

I usually read a book a day, sometimes 2. I do have down times when I'm too busy doing something else like last week's church Valentine banquet. But I read every night in bed, and really every moment I can sneak it in. My kids love to read also. When they were home, sometimes the greatest punishment we could give them was to take the book away!

message 37: by Kristin (new)

Kristin Holt (kristinholt) | 6 comments Wow! Your reading rate inspires me. And no doubt inspired your children, as evidenced by their love of reading. Congrats!
It's a pleasure knowing you--

Hi, I'm Mary and it's nice to be part of a group that focuses on sweet romance! I'm a fan of Jane Austin and Georgette Heyer, and recently have come to appreciate Amish romances as well. I'm a professional ghostwriter and came to the Amish subgenre when a client asked me to write an Amish series for her. I became so intrigued by the Amish lifestyle and ethic that I've recently released an Amish romance under my own pen name, Mary Lingerfelt. It's nice to meet you all. :)

Megan Elder Evans (meganelderevans) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Megan Elder Evans. I love to read anything that is clean, but especially romance. One of my favorite books is "Edenbrooke" by Julianne Donaldson. Of the romances, I prefer period pieces, especially 1800s and back. If they take place in anywhere in the British empire, I'm even happier.
I am currently working on my first series of sweet romances: Defiant Daughters. They are a mix of proper manners and adventure.
