message 351: by Christian (new)

Christian Kachel Greetings. I recently published a new historical novel Spoils of Olympus By the Sword by Christian Kachel Spoils of Olympus By the Sword by Christian Kachel. I am interested in all things Alexander the Great but not until I took a class on him back in college did I learn about the unbelievable events that occurred after his untimely death without naming an heir. World wars from Afghanistan to Italy, fascinating personalities, intrigue, and general chaos- all culminating in the eventual Roman domination of his Mediterranean Empire through the final act of Caeser marrying Ptolemy's great-granddaughter 12 times down the line- Cleopatra. I've always felt that, despite great novels being written about the life and times of Alexander, few fictional works are written during this important time period in western history (Mary Renault and Christian Cameron notwithstanding).

Spoils of Olympus takes place soon after Alexander's death and follows the life of a young man who gets caught up in the epic wars of succession. During this time he becomes a warrior, falls for a courtesan, and gets embroiled in a secret society bent on saving Alexander's legacy and heirs from those that would usurp it.

I am a 3-time Army combat vet and have been deployed to some of the very places Alexander marched with his army. Being able to experience the smells, view the sights (not much has changed in some of these places unfortunately), touch the ground, interact with the natives- all inspired me to write this novel which is the first in what will be a series.

Spoils of Olympus is available in both Kindle and paperback

William Prystauk (williamdprystauk) | 1 comments Hello, Everyone:

I'm Bill and I'm a writer as well as an English teacher. I also have a hard-boiled crime novel, "Bloodletting." I seek honest reviews if one enjoys the genre. Although I love to read books, due to the demands of the semester, I don't really get to them until the summer.

Whether author, reader, or both, I wish you well!

Lincoln Knight | 6 comments Hi,

I'm putting the finishing touches to my first novel and I'd be very happy if someone could review the extensive preview available at http://www.second-event.com

Tom Cosgrove is thrust in to a world where the rules no longer apply after an unprecedented solar flare impacts with the Earth’s atmosphere. Does he have what it takes to survive and keep his family safe whilst most of the country burns to the ground?

Any feedback would be fantastic, thanks

G.K. Sihat (gksihat) | 1 comments Hello!

I'm a new author that's just joined the author's page on Goodreads. I've recently published my first book, Conformity and Non-Conformity in the Tim Burton Fairytale which you can see on my page and is currently being sold on Amazon. 100% of the proceeds from it is going towards buying books for the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I’m the kind of person that likes to keep busy and jump around from one thing to another so there are a few projects going on at once. I’m currently waiting for the illustrations for my children’s book to be completed while working on a collection of other children’s books with an author whose work I absolutely adore. I’m also still working on a young adult fantasy novel. So far the first 10 chapters have been getting some absolutely amazing feedback from those I’ve been lucky enough to share them with so that should soon enter the big wide world hopefully.

I also do screenplays so I’m currently working on an adaptation of Sarah Rayne’s The Silence, a magnificent book that you have to read if you haven’t already, and pitching short film ideas to a production company which I can hopefully tell you about soon. And then finally, I’m ghostwriting short romance stories for a client and working on my film and literature website, Interlude: Unscripted.

Right, that's me! I look forward to getting to know some of you better!

Gurpreet

J.M. Beal (jmbeal) | 2 comments Hi!

My name is Jules and I am a consummate lurker.

I'm also a writer, a reader, a reviewer (usually in trade, though if I like a book I always wind up posting about it and convincing everyone else I know to read it), and a publisher.

I write a little bit of everything and I read a little bit of everything, and I hope to find some wonderful reviewers here and also some wonderful books to read.

Debora Dyess | 9 comments Hi y'all!
I'm a writer and editor/coordinator for 'Tween Girls and God digital magazine. The themed magazine is up on Amazon a couple of times each month and we give it away for free for 5 days of its first week of publication. It's pretty time-consuming, as I coordinate writers from around the globe. Our readership is world-wide, too, and it's an exciting project to be a part of.
But ... it has put my own writing goals on hold for a year or so. I've left a profitable ghostwriting career to do this volunteer ministry, so now it's time to reformat the magazine production and start to publish my own work.
Currently, I have a picture book on Amazon. I have one 4 star and one 5 star review for the eBook and am getting ready to publish it to print. Anyone interested in reviewing children's books (or upcoming Christian romance and thriller novels) let me know. I can hook you up! :) I hope to publish a couple of books per month this year. No, I'm not that prolific, but I have that many books waiting in the wings.
It's good to join the group and I look forward to reading some great children/Christian/romance!

Amanda Anderson (reneaanderson) | 10 comments I'm Amanda, but call me Renea. I'm 18 and live with my fiance, my cat, and soon to add a puppy to the mix. I'm a somewhat new reviewer, but a very experienced reader. I don't bite so you can message me if you would like. If you want to message me, but not sure what to say try asking me about my cat, my puppy, my goals, my fiance, or PTSD service dogs. I love to talk almost as much as I love to read.

I'm Graham from the UK. I started writing in 1996, the year my TV was repossessed. Three years later I was evicted from my home for nonpayment of rent and forced to live in a tent. With no means of charging my laptop I swopped it for a mangy dog. Now the two of us travel the highways and byways reading discarded bus tickets and fast food wrappers. I would really appreciate a review if possible. Touching Ed does include some sex scenes, but not erotic. Please contact me if you need more details. Thank you

Sandy Hogarth (goodreadscomsandyhogarth) | 5 comments The Glass Girl by Sandy Hogarth
Free giveaway finishes March1.Giveaway of The Glass Girl finishes on March 1st.
Reviewed as a 'page turner'.
Sandy says “I love exploring character under stress, relationships, and, perversely, lonely places”.
"This is certainly evidenced in ‘The Glass Girl’, which is a beautifully written book. It is an intricate story of betrayed trust, love, loss and hope written with a lightness of touch and at a fast moving pace. The central characters are totally believable and drawn with such depth that you really care what happens to them – sharing their joys and joining in with their tears. At its heart is the story of Ruth – her difficult family relationships and her struggle to overcome seemingly insuperable problems. To find out more you will have to read it yourself, and I guarantee you will not want to put it down!

Marjorie I'm so glad I found this group! I truly am addicted to reading and mostly find my books at the library because I couldn't possibly afford all the books that I read. I've been a member of Goodreads for quite awhile but it's only been the past few months that I've been active here and am finding so many books that I want to read. I've been enjoying the new authors I've found here and have learned that a book doesn't have to be a best seller to be great. I'll gladly read and review books as time permits. I enjoy literary fiction, memoirs, mystery, suspense and women's fiction. Not much interested in romance or anything too light and fluffy. The deeper, the better!

Bower Lewis (bowerlewis) | 2 comments Hey there! I'm new to the group (and to Goodreads, still finding my way around!). My debut novel, Patience, My Dear will be released March 24 by a brand new imprint of Simon & Schuster/Atria. I'd love some honest reviews from passionate readers. It’s currently available on NetGalley, and I have a small number of advance readers copies, as well. Here's the publisher's keynote:

In this quirky, romantic novel, in the irreverent spirit of Christopher Moore’s national bestseller Lamb, a young woman is getting texts from an iPhone-obsessed God, and she’s not okay with that. Her handsome new neighbor tries to intervene in the dispute, but is he on her side, or the Almighty’s?

Full description can be viewed on Amazon or the S&S website.

Please message me with requests or questions!
