It was a historical romance. The parts I remember: The heroine was more the wallflower type because she was relatively poor and not the obvious beauty. She marries the hero for reputation's sake, but nothing really happened between them. (I think he is a duke or so and has some nickname like the Saint or Paragon because he is very concerned that his name not be connected to any scandal - which is also why they marry) One point I'm absolutely certain about is that she's a designer, and that's how she managed to 'survive', by selling her designs to a French dressmaker. Though even when she's married, she doesn't tell her husband and continues to design in a separate room that she keeps locked. I also remember her only going to balls and such to see how her own designs look (before she marries). It could be part of a series but I'm not so sure about it. Appreciate any tips!

The description:
Takes place in the west earlier probably 1900ish (I might be wrong). The girl lives by herself shut out from the rest of the world because her family was killed and she is afraid to leave her house. This cowboy/cowboy like stumbles off her place and got in or he was delivering something for her and they have a very combative relationship that grows into love. They eventually get together and she finds out who was the person who shot her family.
Thanks...
