Deanna Miller | 12 comments Hi. I tried replacing the Kindle edition cover but was not allowed to. I'm wondering if a librarian could please replace the Kindle edition cover at

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

with the Smashwords edition cover here:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

In other words, both the Kindle and the Smashwords editions should have the Smashwords cover, which is slightly different from the paperback cover.

Thanks very much for your help.

Deanna

Z-squared | 8575 comments Hi Deanna, Goodreads policy is to keep all covers, even those that are out-of-print or no longer available. Instead, we create alternate cover editions. I have created one for Sky Bounce (kindle edition) here:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

As the author, you can choose which cover is the default edition by following these instructions:

Deanna Miller | 12 comments Thanks for your quick reply. I'm confused. The paperback edition has one cover, and the two ebook editions have a different cover. The instructions indicate how to set a different primary edition for the work, such as changing the primary edition from the paperback to one of the ebooks. But I want to keep the paperback as the primary edition. I'm just trying to give the Kindle edition its correct cover.

Z-squared | 8575 comments The paperback is currently the default, so if that's what you want, no change needed. Both kindle editions have their correct cover; we keep the old kindle edition covers, even if they are no longer available. I created another kindle edition with the new cover. Now Goodreads has records for both, and users can shelve whichever version they wish.

Deanna Miller | 12 comments OK, thanks. I'd like to leave feedback on the Goodreads policy here. There's only one Kindle edition, and it has the same cover as the Smashwords edition. You can't go by the publication date listed on Amazon because each time you make even a minor formatting change and submit a new file, Amazon changes the publication date. So by that definition the Kindle edition has had many different publication dates as I adjusted the formatting. I think it's confusing to list two covers for the Kindle edition. As the author, I don't want the paperback cover associated with the Kindle edition. That's why I changed the cover for the ebooks. But it doesn't matter much. That's just my feedback on the policy. Thanks.
