post here.
I am completely open to suggestions! :)

Does anyone have any ideas for new folders, or discussions?
I'm trying to think of them all, but I'm worried I'm forgetting some important ones...

Kristina | 778 comments Does anybody like to cook? We could have a random recipe folder. I know it's not totally book related, but hey, we could get recipes from COOKBOOKS! Just a thought. I love reading. I love cooking. I love reading while cooking. And it's always fun to get new ideas from other people.

I just made one for you! :) I made it all about cooking, recipes, cooking tips, and cookbooks. :)

LOL
I only own three cookbooks. I'd suggest the BEST one to you, but it is only available at my grandma's church. All the women get together and submit their best recipes, and then the church makes a huge cookbook with tips and everything. They sell it to raise money for the church! :)

Kristina | 778 comments Mmm, pot roast sounds so good right now. I'm saving that recipe now!

message 8: by Kristina (new)

Kristina | 778 comments I'll share my favorite burger recipe. And I don't measure for this one so the ingredients are to taste.

1 lb ground beef
salt
pepper
minced garlic
fresh basil
Worchestershire sauce
And if you're feeling a little frisky... gorgonzola

Mix all together and grill those babies up! Goes great with sauteed mushrooms on them!

LOL I just realized I should probably put my recipes in the cookbook thread. LOL I moved them there. I was being scatterbrained. Sorry peeps.
I made the cookbook thread in the chatterbox folder. :) Hopefully, you'll get some awesome recipes! :)

message 10: by new_user (new)

new_user Joy, maybe they should sell their recipes online. :D It's pretty easy. They wouldn't even have to set up a shopping cart. They could just set up a paypal acct.

I'll suggest that to my grandmother. Seriously, the recipe book is the best I have ever seen. Some of the recipes have been passed down for generations!

message 12: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (thehopelessbibliophile) My only suggestion would be to end the group read polls early enough to give everyone a chance to go out and get the book, maybe a week or so before the first of the month.

message 13: by Lynda (new)

Lynda I "catch up on series" folder for people who want to commit and update their commitment to catch up on series. I have quite a few series books in my tbr pile and would like to catch up on some of the series. I am sure others do too.

I'll make a folder right now. :)

message 16: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) In the polls section is there a way for you to lock the poll for the group nomination for the month? I know you can sort through the polls using the sorting feature available but it doesn't guarantee that the nomination poll will be on top. It's just kind of a hassle when I want to quickly vote for the group read and I have sift through the different polls.

message 17: by new_user (new)

new_user Hm, I think when the poll author clicks "featured" when creating or editing the poll, it sticks at the top, but I'm not sure.

message 18: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Stroube | 2393 comments Mod
I'll try it out as soon as I make the new group read poll.
Sorry it's taken me a while. I haven't been on much, because I've been so busy over the past week.

I'm reworking the "Group Reads Nomination" folders.

I made one folder dedicated towards nominating themes, and a different folder for nominating books for the separate themes. :) I'm in the process of transferring all the information into out new thread. :) Much less clutter. :)

I haven't heard any suggestions on how members would like for me to improve the group... Any suggestions?
As a single person, I realize that there are many great ideas I will not come up with. I am very open to suggestions. :)Are there any folders you would like for me to create? Let me know! :)
Thanks everyone!

message 24: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Hi Joy. Is it possible to open a folder for member promotional stuff? I have a blog that I created that I would love to promote on here. I have a giveaway coming in September and a Smutty-Fest (for romance readers in the group) and I would love it if members from this group could participate. I'm sure there are other members with blogs or giveaways here too. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jackie,
There is a folder titled "Promotional Discussions" if you go to that folder you are welcome to promote your blog there.
Good Luck! :)

I just added a ton of tags for this group. This way when people search for a new group ours is more likely to pop up. I'm hoping this will get us some new members! :)

stormhawk | 1184 comments Joy, I love the ereader sections!

message 28: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Yeah, I like the ereader section too...even though I don't have one, but at least I will be informed when I choose to purchase one. :)

Question- The Crown Conspiracy is a group read, but I don't see the thread for it under group reads...are we just using the one Robin created- I think it's under the fantasy folder? Thanks!

I apologize to all members. It was just brought to my attention that a person recently joined BH and was littering the threads with comments about needing to click on his dragon egg. Sorry if it interfered with your chats. I removed all of his comments and deleted him from the group.

Rosanne Cedroni | 23 comments Hello!
I'm still rather new to this site and I'm hoping to follow all the rules :-)
There are a few people interested in reading Vanity Fair and I'm at a loss over how to set this up. I would love to do it chapter by chapter (by links so that once you click on the link you would be brought to the posts) However, I'm not sure if that could be done or if it would clutter up the space too much. I noticed that there are things called "folders" What is that all about?
Naturally, I'd like to keep things as simple as possible!
Thanks so much!
rosanne

I recently received an email from a group member who said that for some reason my group is no longer letting them post comments on my group, even though they are a member. If anyone one else is having this issue, please email me! I'm not deleting members, the few times I did... I always notified the member. I only delete members when they are not following the group rules. Please, let me know if this is happening to you!

Hello Everyone!

I have a question for all of you. This group has been up for a little over 2 years. In that time, I have never changed the group photo! The one that is up right now, if a picture I took on my honeymoon. :)

So, here are my questions...

1.) Should we change the photo?
2.) If we do change it, what type of photo should it be?

message 42: by Nada (new)

Nada Al-Karmi (nadooush) i like the picture. i don't think you should change it. it looks cozy.

lol It was taken in Wisconsin. I had to lean over the deck, suspended over the water to get this shot. My hubby yelled at me, b/c it was the end of October. lol He thought I was going to fall in, but I was determined.

Talking about group photos, I'm on a web scrapbook-type site called weheartit and there are some beautiful photos of old libraries I'd love to share with the group. Not necessarily to be used for the profile pics but just in case there's anyone out there who loves photos of books in rooms and buildings like me! I noticed there's only 3 photos there so far. If this is ok, I'll start adding a few of my favourites. Thanks :)

stormhawk | 1184 comments I know a lot of time has passed since the question was posed, but I love the group photo! It looks very wistful, and appears to be a haven.

Now, I do have a question ... do you have control over the order of the topic areas? I was thinking that the challenge topic should be higher up than it is. What does everybody else think?

Are you talking about the "Create Challenge" topic on the right side, below "group settings"... Or the Folder "Challenges", mixed in with the other folders?

-Thanks, I took the photo on my honeymoon. :)

message 50: by stormhawk (last edited Feb 15, 2012 07:10PM) (new)

stormhawk | 1184 comments the folder "challenges." the one where we report our progress on reading 50 or 100 books ...

I saw your explanation about the picture, thought it was sweet that you're using a honeymoon photo!!
