Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 39 comments I know of at least three authors named Richard Wright (one I know personally). I knew about one additional author because some of his works are considered classics, but discovered the other one when looking at the booklist attributed to the man I know personally. What I can't figure out is how to separate them. I have verified with him that there are no additional books written by him other than the ones I am already familiar with, so it's not simply a matter of him having additional interests I wasn't aware of.

Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 39 comments ROFL! Looks like I've got my work cut out for me. I'll stick with just separating everything I know was written by the man I know personally then. :)

Just be sure to use a profile with a number of spaces different than any of the existing ones (unless he already IS one of the existing ones with multiple spaces).

Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 39 comments Yes, I believe he is - more than one of the existing profiles at first glance, but I'll verify that before I fix anything.

Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 39 comments OK, I'm certain there's more work to be done for this group of similarly-named authors, but I've at least separated the one I know for certain. I'll see what I can find out about the others to maybe finish sorting them out. In the meantime, I'll also see what I can do about putting up an author bio and photo for the one whose work I'm most familiar with to help others distinguish between them when adding new books.

You can leave a note that there is more authors with that name and the number of spaces. This will be helpful when another librarian stumbles on books that are in the wrong author's page and they will know which authors have been separated.

Aprilleigh (aprilleighlauer) | 39 comments I can do that, I'm just not certain precisely where to leave that note.

I tend to put a note on the one-space author page 'cos that is where everthing ends up. Also add a note to the individual pages that you fix so that other people know that this author is a specific author and not a jumble of random people.
