I think this book is a classic - can never remember the name. The 16 year old daughter gets taken by the supervisor and becomes pregnant by one of the black supervisors. The family can't escape, they are stuck.

Courtney, was the book written in the 30s? Or, was it written at a later time?

I think it must have been written after but not too long after. I always want to think "Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry", but it's not that. The family is white. However, I think the title might be sort of like that.
