do you live in Seattle Donna? I visited a friend there a couple of years ago. I'd never been before. the friendliest city I have ever visited. and beautiful. I really enjoyed my stay.

I am not a big reader of mysteries and only picked this as Nadel has spent a lot of time in Turkey and sets her books there. I needed something a little lighter to read in between the density of the historical podcasts and non-fiction books I am currently reading about Turkey.

35. Black Moon
cause what is life with out a little sci fi / post apocalyptic / dystopian fiction!

i don't reread a lot of books but this is one of my favourite sci fi novels and has some really interesting ideas that i wanted to revisit.

2nd of the sci fi trilogy i am rereading.

44. How to be Alone by Jonathan Franzen
I loved his novel The Corrections and had pretty high expectations of this collection of essays. i found it really spotty and ultimately i was kind of disappointed.

i continue my reread of this sci fi trilogy that is really 4 books. i loved the first one alot and upon second reading of this series, i'm still going to say, it is the best of the lot. but i persevere. i will finish rereading the series.

suppose to be another sci fi but it is more mystery, suspense / conspiracy thriller than true sci fi. it was enjoyable ... like popcorn is enjoyable.

AND holy moly! had no idea how many books were named Singularity until I looked to include it here. I could spend the next year reading nothing but books on the singularity!
48 ... and now for something more serious ...
A Marker to Measure Drift.
great title ... AND .... it is the perfect title for this story.

and it's no surprise that typing in that name gets me only one option.

I'm a little late to this party - it was such a popular book a few years ago. It's okay -cute and touching in all the right ways. It's popularity is completely understandable

50. The Hours
another one from years ago that I am just getting around to reading

I had never read this classic. Comparable to Jane Eyre but Jane is a far better heroine ...

whoo hoo!

kind of a hard sci fi .... much more challenging than my usual sci fi reading material with a lot of ideas about the melding of human and technological evolution.

a really good story set in a post apocalyptic world - but I would not call it a survivalist story ... not what you typically think of when you think post-apocalyptic. a really really good story.

damn. for a while i thought maybe i had another 5 star book on my hands but about 2/3 of the way through it kind of fell apart a bit. still, a very good read. very enjoyable. just a little short of stellar.

61. last one of the year is The Ploughmen by Kim Zupan ... another really good novel ... especially as this is Zupan's first. i expect very good things from him.
