Abigail | 290 comments Allegiant was absolutely heartbreaking but I still think it's an amazing book

readeraz (zoethereader) | 405 comments Allegiant was heart-breaking, beautiful, and had an amazing ending, to an AMAZING trilogy. Tris was the most selfless and brave character our there. I will forever remember her as a character.

message 103: by Kat (new)

Kat | 1 comments Tris is kind of like Katniss from The hunger Games because she is a martyr. The only difference is that Katniss didn't actually die. But she showed more signs of a martyr than Tris did.

message 104: by Sabeeka (new)

Sabeeka (fangirlsbynight) I was a total mess but now that it's been a few months I have gotten over because it is what Veronica wanted but Im still super sad

message 105: by Kelly (new)

Kelly It's always a bummer when a book ends bad but I think it's good for us, you know? Were so used to happy endings and in reality they very rarely happen. Don't get me wrong I was so angry and sad but it was good for a change

message 106: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 I loved the comment : Totally Dauntless of Veronica

True that ! Speaking of that i wonder what faction Veronica would want to be part of

I heard her in an interview say that she would be dauntless probably.

message 110: by [deleted user] (new)

I have heard her say Abnegation, but in the one interview she said she would be factionless.

Meg (mrfhappy) | 3 comments Is anyone else super mad @ Veronica that tris died? I almost started bawling in public when I read that part!

I didn't almost, i did start bawling in public :P

message 113: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 I think you guys should just accept the ending as is.. I mean I know you probably wanted the all-known ending then everything is over and tris and four are back together and things start to go back to normal.. But that's a normal one... Tris's death twisted everything so it's pretty acceptable

Leya (leyasofpaint) | 19 comments I always think of this picture in tumblr: 'Maybe it's not about the happy ending but about the story...'

message 115: by Brianna (new)

Brianna Demark | 2 comments I totally hated Tris dying but I agree with Veronica. On one of her talk show she explained that Tris died to show her bravery.

message 116: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 43 comments I didn't like the fact that she dies but it wouldn't be in keeping with the character if she didn't go in there instead of Caleb and ridiculously unrealistic if she had survived.

message 117: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 43 comments Ok so I hate books in the first person because you immediately know that they are either not gonna die or you don't get to find out how their death affects people and that sucks. So thanks Veronica for not being predictable and staying true to your characters no matter what.

message 118: by Minimoule (new)

Minimoule | 43 comments Ok so a long time ago on this someone was talking about the fault in our stars,an d yeah I'm pretty sure that john green was trying to torture me personally by writing that book. And now they're making a film and I was like, didn't you hurt me enough????

message 119: by Kelly (new)

Kelly That was me. And I know what your saying but it wasn't torturous just upsetting. I will definitely be crying when I watch the film

message 120: by Abigail (new)

Abigail | 290 comments I'll be crying during both TFIOS (for obvious reasons) and divergent because I know how Tris ends up. But I feel like if Tris hadn't been killed, then people would've been like "it's too happy of an ending and so clique and that wouldn't of ever" happened. So even though it was terribly sad, it had to happen. Plus tris finally learned the meaning of self sacrifice and she was brave and saved everyone. And did anyone notice that in the first two books she said "am I done yet" and her mom or whoever said no (it was something like that). Then in allegiant, she said both "I'm not done yet" AND "am I done yet?" And her heaven mom or whatever said "yes, honey you've done so well". Oh the feels

message 121: by Tris (new)

Tris | 92 comments Yes I noticed that too! I think Veronica Roth intentionally did that. Infact, I think that Veronica Roth had Tris's death all planned out from the beginning!

message 122: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 @Tris exactly I bet she did... Actually before I read the last book I thought Four was going to die and couldn't help but throw it away really!! Then it was actually tris and it was unexpected xD

message 123: by Lauren (new)

Lauren I had a few suspicions that four or tris was going to die because Veronica Roth put Allegiant in their point of views.

message 124: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 2 comments I am just really sad she dies at the end and I am angry!! Just wanted to vent to someone who understands. She was the main character. I feel betrayed, but it's understandable... but I still am angry.

message 125: by Ashley (new)

Ashley | 16 comments I honestly wanted Caleb to be like hiding behind a table or something because he went through the death serum in that suit, and he'd jump in front of Tris so he'd take the bullet and not her.

That would have made me very happy

Elizabeth Siciliano (bethann4j) | 27 comments My friend said it should of ended ad tris waking up in the testing room and tori says
It was all a simulation

message 128: by [deleted user] (new)

I would have died if that had happened

message 129: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Siciliano (bethann4j) | 27 comments I would have died
Like if four was just part of a simulation

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes exactly!!!

message 131: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 @elizabeth omg that would've been like WOW

message 132: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag @Elizabeth that would have been the biggest plot twist ever! I'm not sure if I would have loved or hated that ending.

message 133: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine (jazzyman) | 21 comments I don't know if you all have read this- but if anyone is still annoyed/sad/angry/confused about the end of allegiant, I suggest reading this blog post from Veronica that explains why she did it. I read it after I finished allegiant and it really helped me understand some things!:)

message 134: by Donita (new)

Donita (xxamethyststarxx) | 12 comments I just finished this book this morning. And I was so upset that she died in the end and that her and Tobias didn't get their happy ending.

message 135: by Saloni (new)

Saloni (salpal77) | 40 comments I literally cried so much at the end, it was almost as bad as when I read TFIOS.

message 136: by Erin (new)

Erin Vastag I just finished reading it for the second time and the ending was worse than the first time. I knew what was going to happen and that just made it worse because I knew it was real. I cried more the second time.

message 137: by Saloni (new)

Saloni (salpal77) | 40 comments Really? Someone had spoiled me about it before I read it, so I knew it was going to happen, although for the longest time I thought it would be Tobias who died.

message 138: by xotic3 (new)

xotic3 @Saloni.. my thoughts.. I thought Tobias was going to die.. oh well you don't always get the happy ending you wanted though it's quite cheesy..

Yeah that's true, I always imagined that they would have kids and be a happy family...I guess not :(

Yeah I think so too, just so neither of them have to be alone.

message 144: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Siciliano (bethann4j) | 27 comments How does everyone else prounce Tobias

Is it toe-bee-as
Or is it toe-buy-us

Me and some other pple at our homeschool group are having a big discussion over it

message 145: by Saloni (new)

Saloni (salpal77) | 40 comments It's toe-buy- us. I thought it was the first one, but the audiobook people said it the second way.

I don't know, I think that they would stay alone just because they are so hung up over Tris/Will respectively, so they'd just become good friends.I know some guys like that. They wait forever for the right person to come along and when she (or he) does come around, and some thing horrid happens between them they never get over it. (It's kinda cute.) But that's just my take on it since I ship Fourtris like it's my job. But yeah, I can see why Christina/Tobias would happen.

Yeah I ship it so hard too. But maybe to avoid being alone, they'd do it out of mutual necessity.

I read that link, and it reminded me a bit of Harry Potter, except the fact that he lived, and she didn't. I get why Veronica Roth did what she did, and the symbolism involved, but I still don't agree completely, although the blog still did give me some closure that Tris lived a short but full life.
But there is a past of me that still wants to eat ice cream and sob my eyes out and throw a hissy fit.

Haha I think that part is in all of us. But I have to admit, as much I hated having her die, I think Veronica did a pretty good job in tying up the storyline in that sense. As much as I hated it, I think it worked and served the purpose it needed to serve.

I really don't think that they think being alone is that bad, but again, I'm not them, so how would I know?
